In the center of the nave, beneath the vault of the transept, stands the Choir, the musical and spiritual heart of the Cathedral. Its Renaissance screen, the work of Domingo de Céspedes (1541–1548), protects a space where art, liturgy, and history have intertwined for more than five centuries. The lower choir stalls, carved in walnut wood by Rodrigo Alemán between 1489 and 1495, are among the most astonishing works of Spanish Gothic art. In its fifty-four stalls, the sculptor narrated with meticulous realism the episodes of the conquest of Granada, depicting battles, kings, and bishops with unprecedented vividness.

Currently, around 1,400 volumes are preserved, but at its peak, there may have been around 4,000.
