in the wild...
After the wettest winter in Oregon history (no exaggeration), we finally got out for some truffle hunting. The Oregon white season is wrapping up soon, but the Oregon black truffles were bountiful. The site we explored had both in close proximity in a grove of Doug firs that had been planted on old farmland.
We spent a surprisingly warm Presidents' Day foraging – with stellar results. We brought home over 10 oz of Oregon blacks and a few small whites.
Truffle hunting is exhausting! After a quick paw bath at home, I've been enjoying some downtime and cuddles. Life is good.

I'm completing my truffle training this weekend with some field work in Corvallis, OR. Once I'm field-tested, it's game on! Stay tuned for some truffle updates soon.
