It was a beautiful night under the June New Moon. Something I hadn't considered affecting a long exposure was the number of fireflies flitting about making it more magical to the naked eye but crafting bright yellow streaks throughout my long exposure. The mosquitos were relentless for periodic short bursts of time but finally dissipated. Sitting, listening to the frogs and the nighttime sounds of the Wisconsin Northwoods waiting for the fireflies to settle made me realize what makes nighttime photography so rewarding. Final Fetch: Over the last 13 years I've witnessed amazing dock dives by this beautiful German Shepard. As I was looking through my photos from this weekend, I was reflecting on how much I enjoyed my time between 2:00 AM and 5:00 AM in the middle of 10,000 acres of State Forest, but I was a tiny bit disappointed that I missed the Northern Lights activity and only had the opportunity for a small glimpse of the Milky Way's Core. This was the final shot of the sequence. It made me happy. It could be the lighting, or it could be the Northern Lights and the Milky way at the same dang time.
