How about Amelie meeting Kagami and Longg?
"What did you tell her?" Amelie asks Félix, nervous, suddenly, very nervous.
Félix adores this girl, this girl who is like him. She wants to make a good impression. But she has no idea how to do so. What if she fumbles the greeting.
"That you are kind." Her sweet son takes her hand. "Intelligent. Resourceful. Respectful. That you know about what we are and it does not matter to you. That you chose me, even though you did not have to."
"You are too kind to me, Félix." She failed by every measure to protect him from the monster that she was forced to marry. "But I love you." She tells him softly. "I hope she likes me."
"She will." Félix assures her with confidence. "Duusu?"
"They're in the elevator! I can't wait to see Longg!" Duusu dances around them, giggling. "Ohhhh. We never get to just be with our holders. This is so fun!"
Duusu is an adjustment. She isn't sure if another Kwami will match his energy. But she forces her body to relax even if her mind is racing.
Félix brings her in, all smiles, and the smiles at her tentatively.
"It's so nice to meet you, Kagami. Félix has told me so much." She smiles, and it only feels a bit like she's putting on a show. "Lunch is ready. And your Kwami is welcome to join us for it!"
"Thank you, Ms. Graham. Longg will enjoy getting to spend time with Duusu."
"Please, call me Amelie. No titles." She leads the way to the dining room, as her little dragon Kwami plays in the air with Duusu.
"What does your Kwami like to eat?" She asks.
"Longg prefers cooked meats. She is really not particularly choosy."
"Duusu likes almonds in all shapes, especially cookies." Amelie smiles. "Do they all have such varied tastes?"
"Some are very particular." Kagami smiles faintly at Félix, their hands are clasped and his attention dances between them like a beam of light. "Thankfully, Duusu and Longg are adaptive. We mostly don't have to hide. But I wonder how some of the others manage."
"They don't tell their parents?" Amelie can't imagine Félix keeping such a big secret. It would be like only being part of half his life. She would notice if he started hiding so much.
"Most do not. Secrecy is part of the agreement." Kagami says softly.
Perhaps they others have terrible parents. Then. Ones who don't notice the presence of a kwami in the house or a change in their child? She serves tea, properly, and Kagami settles into a chair next to Félix.
"I don't mean to pepper you with questions, dear." She says quietly. "Please let me know if I bother you."
"No, M- Amelie. I do not mind. I know you ask out of care." The girl smiles at her, a little less forced, and Amelie smiles back, feeling the warmth.
She likes the girl for Félix quite a lot.
