Kirk Tiberius James grew up in a typical family household, although his parental circumstances were much different than most. He was adopted by a gay couple as an infant, thus granting him no information about his biological parents whatsoever. During his childhood, he had questions about his real parents, though as he grew older, he became increasingly more indifferent towards them. He could care less about them only because they couldn’t care less about him when they left him at an orphanage’s doorstep. In spite of some of his peers tormenting him for having two gay fathers in high school, Kirk stayed strong and loved his adoptive parents unconditionally. He was prepared for these situations and was taught not to let them affect him; ultimately, he was taught to be the bigger person. So much so that he often stood up for others who were bullied by the top of the food chain at his high school. Kirk found himself one of the few lucky people in between the social classes. He was well-liked and admired for his courage, though he was not popular enough to be known schoolwide – and quite frankly, he liked it like that. Nevertheless, he had a couple of girls go after him, though he was never too interested in having a girlfriend back in high school. He only had three girlfriends and they didn’t stay for too long. Like his roommates, Kirk has lived in Indiana all of his life and has no plan on moving away anytime soon. He attends Notre Dame University under an art major and he hopes to pursue a career in creating comic books once he finishes college. His passion for comic books comes from his generally boyish attitude and interests, though he has always loved the idea of creating stories that were not like the others. He found that making comic books and drawing was the one thing that he was good at and therefore stuck to hopefully making it a career even though there were people who discouraged him. Kirk also has an aspiration to become a hero of his own, much like the Star Trek captain he was named after (James Tiberius Kirk-- sound familiar?). At first glance, most people almost always fall in love with Kirk’s zany and gawky ways. He’s often seen with food, or with a desire for food – he’s a fanatic for anything that fits in his mouth. Most would write it off as an obsession, though he would claim it as an admiration. He carries himself quite well in spite of his social awkwardness and has a charm to him that stays with most people after meeting him. People always find him to be a positive influence. The boy is shy, but when the time is right, he knows when to be adventurous. Boredom is not an option with him and he’ll always find something to keep him occupied. Otherwise, his ADHD would get the best of him.
Kirk and his two other roommates run a late night, weekend college radio show at Notre Dame. When he’s off duty, you can find him at the local coffee shop, probably delivering coffees on his skateboard even though his boss has often told him not to.
Bonus: Kirk does a lot of street murals/graffiti using spray paint, but here’s the thing-- it’s kind of illegal to do that in the state of Indiana without a permit/license. Good thing he hasn’t gotten caught.
