Beatrice Harper, 25, Queens â Brooklyn. some girls are built for speed some girls they like to fight go go roller girl look at that girl roll, roller derby saved my soul
âThis is New York, most things are put above a human body. But thanks for not mentioning it.â They say sarcastically, but thereâs no malice in their tone. Rue seldom took things personally and there wasnât any harm except for maybe the rats would burrow into the plastic cups. âNot going to lie, none of the hot coffee got on you which means less trouble for me. It couldâve been worse.â They look at the blonde. âRight. No young adult has twenty dollars on them anymore.â Replying with jest, Rue found themselves more entertained than irritated. âIf you got hit by a Porsche and lived think of how you could sue the Hell out of them. Then you like to roll into strangers in the middle of the sidewalk for fun? Itâs not my first choice for a hobby but you do you.â
âI hate that youâre not wrong.â Trix laughed, both loving New York and hating it. Though, only locals were allowed to hate New York, everyone else was an idiot. âThat wouldâve been ugly.â Trix grimaced dramatically, mouthing the word yikes. âWell when you put it that way...might fuck around and toss myself into the street on a prayer.â she joked, âYou must be some sort of genius.â she added with a smile, being friendly. âI only run into strangers on the sidewalk on purpose sometimes, if theyâre cute or if theyâre an asshole. Skating is my hobby, running into people and crashing into the ground is just a side effect. But all our virtues have vices.â Trix tilted her head, hoping sheâd used those words correctly because honestly? She wasnât fucking sure. âYou look familiar, like Iâve definitely seen you around once or twice. That weird? Whatever.â

Rey had spent all afternoon and at that point all night at work, her partner had had some sort of emergency and as Rey was the one in charge and would never think of neglecting her job, sheâd taken on twice the responsibility. There was a funeral happening early the next day and everything had to be perfect and ready. She understood when you were dealing with grief the last thing you wanted to do was have to deal with a million other details, that was what Reyâs exact job was. It was about eleven when she finally managed to change her clothes and get out of the building, she headed to the only spot she knew would be open, Rose Diner.Â
Due to the late nights and the fact that she wasnât too keen on bars, she often found herself there. Ordering the same exact thing that she always did which first began with a rather large glass of orange juice. As she sat at her table, Rey looked around to realize for once the place wasnât completely packed. âYou should try getting the burger with mac and cheese in it. Theyâll do that if you ask, itâs the best thing here.â She recommended to the person sitting nearest to her. It was uncharacteristic of her to speak to someone she didnât know but she also desperately wanted to get her mind off of the past nine hours.Â
Trix had picked up the late shift when another waitress called out only an hour beforehand, for the third time. Though she groaned about it, she took the double and knew it would give her leverage the next time she herself was late for a shift (which was bound to happen). Having worked at Rose Diner since she was a teenager, she often felt like she could get away with anything, but she knew she had to prove her worth once in a while to make that possible. Bored with her head balanced on her wrist considering how empty the place was, she noticed someone that came into the diner quite often and made her way over to start conversation. âYou know, I started that burger.â Trix bragged just above a whisper, before leaning against the inner side of the diner counter. âWhat can I say, I might just be a savior to us all.â she joked.Â
Harley was minding his own business, waiting for the cross walk signal to change, when suddenly something was colliding with him. He lost his balance, and stumbled back a couple steps before looking to see what had just happened. A blonde with roller skates was on the ground, laughing. As she commented on his build, he laughed and offered her a hand up. âSorry. Iâll try to work out less, just in case you run into me again. Are you okay?â
âMe? Okay? Never been better, totally downright thriving. My ass and the ground? Americaâs favorite couple.â Trix joked in ramble fashion as she grabbed the strangerâs hand and pulled herself up, sliding a little before finding her balance. She smacked her hands together to rub the dirt from the sidewalk off of them before looking back up at the man, âYou okay?â she asked out of obligation since heâd been so polite, âI mean, ya barely flinched but I feel like I gotta ask so you donât sue me or something.â she laughed.
Estrella should have known that something to this effect would happen when sheâd seen that the girl was paying absolutely no attention to what she was doing. That was why she had tried to step out of her way but that only resulted in their two bodies colliding and an audible gasp escaping from her lips when she realized the other had fallen down. âOh, goodness. Iâm sorry.â The words left her mouth before she could take in what she was saying. âIâd hope so, I work out enough for it.â Estrella laughed, offering her hand to help her up.Â
âSorry? Trix looked up as her face softened, honestly surprised considering most people she ran into on accident always had some choice words (and sorry was scarcely one of them). âOh...thanks.â Trix grinned, nodding and grabbing the hand stretched toward her before hopping to balance on her skates while squatting, and slowly rising up. âSorry about that, I get a little distracted.â she said honestly, âYou took it like a champ though!â Trix added as if it made the situation better. Trix laughed at Estrellaâs comment, âYeah you definitely look like you work out.âÂ
âYeah! If youâre into DIY punk, you should totally come with me sometime!â Dottie was pretty forward when it came to making new friends, a fault that her mother always warned her would come back to bite her. It hadnât yet, so she chose to embrace her sociable nature. âIâm twenty-one, and if youâre old you definitely donât look it.â Dot gave a reassuring nod as she tucked the rest of her stack into her tote, carefully avoiding pinning Whiskers beneath it (she refused to leave the house without the rodent, probably a result of some unresolved abandonment issues). âOh, Iâm looking to start a band. Know anyone?â
âFor real? Thatâs cool of you considering we donât know each other. Iâm Trix!â she said enthusiastically, holding her hand out for a handshake. âDamn, you look younger! I feel like thatâs a compliment though, no one wants to look old. Oh, you think so?â Trix tilted her head bashfully, though giving Dottie a theatrical wink. âWhat can I say, Iâve got the skin of a babyâs ass, or whatever the saying is.â Trixâs eyebrows perked up, genuinely intrigued by Dottieâs search, âA band? Are you a musician? Thatâs pretty fucking rad. God, I wish. I canât play anything, though I feel like Iâd be good at the drums? You know, if someone taught me, I feel like Iâd shred it.â Trix nodded to convince mostly herself.

Chandler heard the âfuckâ before he felt himself crashing to the ground. âThe fuck?â He asked himself, before sitting up and realizing some dumbass had run into him on her skates. And she was complaining about her ass? He looked down at his skinned forearm and sighed. âAre you fucking blind? Watch where youâre going next time!â
Trixâs voice was originally playful, and she hadnât expected such a malicious reply from the stranger, so when Chandler cursed back at her she was taken aback. Her eyebrows narrowed and her gaze fixed on his forearm. âOh, donât be such a fucking wuss.â she spit back at him, balancing on her arms stretched behind her as she sat on the ground with one knee bent upward. âMaybe you should watch where youâre standing, you big fat baby.â she squinted her eyes at him, blowing her tongue out like a child before sighing, âItâs just a little scrape, too bad a band-aid wonât fix your crap attitude.âÂ
âToo soon to tell. I might be sure after the first date,â Zoe teased. It was harmless flirting! That wasnât criminal! At least, thatâs what Zoe was feeding herself to ward off the awareness that she shouldnât be flirting with strangers. Or anyone who wasnât her boyfriend, really. âUgh, fine. Keep me guessing. If youâre not careful, Iâll write a song about you, mystery girl in red skates.â Being a musician was great, because it meant that Zoe could spin this encounter into something profitable later if sheâd gotten nothing else out of it. Very intentionally sweeping her hair over to one shoulder, she continued to preen from the girlâs praise. âYouâre so pretty. I could say the same about you,â she responded with equal earnest. âRock and roll? Thatâs a tier under âpunk rockâ but, by Courtney Love, Iâll take it.â Her eyes, which havenât left the other, held her question before she verbally asked it. âWho are you? Iâm Zoe Levin, babe, and youâll wanna remember me.â Oh, fuck. That didnât sound good. âYikes. How hard didâja hit your head? Will you even remember your name?â She wanted to ask, will you even remember me, but it didnât feel like the time to ask about herself when the other girl potentially had amnesia.
âHa!â Trix laughed, surprised and caught off guard by how forward the other girl was, but Trix was into it. âGuess weâll have to set it up and find out.â she shrugged, but figuratively rolled the ball slowly back in the other girlâs court. âOkay, I would literally die if you wrote a song about me. Thatâs got the be like, the most dramatic, clichĂŠ, and yet sexiest thing ever? Is that basic of me?â she laughed. âLet me know whatever I have to do to get a song out of you, Iâll do it.â Trix said softly, tilting her chin up at the end, almost like they were sharing the very secrets she had just promised to hide, dare in her voice. She pursed her lips into a smile and rolled her eyes when Zoe called her pretty, "I go by Trix, I prefer it. And Iâm not worried about forgetting you.â Trix gave Zoe a quick once over before she started giggling, âOh god, no, Iâm totally fine. Iâm just a fool and forgot where exactly I was headed. But honestly, guess itâs just not important now. Oops.â she shrugged while laughing, slowly swinging the earbuds in her hand as the cord wrapped around her finger. âWhere were you headed, Zoe?â
Holding true to his promise, he pursed his lips but didnât speak on the topic. âThatâs a good philosophy to live by. I can definitely say some of the best experiences came from free things.â His eyes drifted to the corner. Of course he meant right now but he hadnât thought that far in advance. Still new and not knowing the area well heâd resorted to getting a daily coffee from the bodega directly beneath his apartment. Throw in a bagel and it was a good deal for $3. âSure,â Finn had to admire the bit of spontaneity, despite the coffee still in his hand, which he had finally loosen his grip from. âIs it a local thing or some chain?âÂ
âThis?â He held up the piece. A bit of a splurge buy a few years ago. There were plenty of other mirrorless cameras on the market, but who can resist the vintage style. âA Fujifulm X-A7. You know, if I wasnât the one you ran into, I probably would have been taking photos of it. Do you skate often? â
âOh, true, like sex. Oh, and swimming!â Trix shrugged enthusiastically, her attention already shifting to getting to the coffee shop. She skated backwards slowly, leading the way for the pair while also facing him. âI know what youâre thinking.â she teased, âThis probably isnât the best idea given I just rammed into someone a few minutes ago but-â she said, turning in a full circle and tucking her legs one behind the other to move backwards in a rhythm, âI trust youâll tell me if someone is behind me.â she laughed. âBetween you and me, I kind of like the stress of anything-can-happen.âÂ
âLocal, duh.â Trix said as if it would be obvious, cocking an eyebrow at the man whose name she hadnât yet bothered to ask for, âYou not from here, huh?â Trixâs eyes lit up and she dropped her mouth into an âOâ from excitement, âWow, thatâs pretty wicked. So, are you like a camera-camera guy or just one of those hipsters that carries one around to look cool and artsy?â There was a bit of sass in her voice as she teased him, but she stopped abruptly when she almost passed the storefront. âOoof!â she let out, feeling her body hit the air around her. Bowing dramatically she reached her arm out for him, âAfter you, good sir.â she grinned. Stepping forward with her skates afterward, hand pressed on the door, her mind came back to her, âI skate any chance I get. Can ya tell?âÂ
A short chuckle escaped as he shook his head. âIâll plead the fifth on that one.â He wasnât rich by any means but he was far from struggling. He managed his finances well and lived relatively meagerly to save up cash for projects. A lot of camping. His apartment in Crown Heights was an exception. âI can afford to buy you a pack of ice and a coffee to make up for the fall though.âÂ
âThatâs what a rich person would say.â Trix grinned, but took his hand anyway for the ease of rising off the ground with some balance support. She shrugged, âSounds good to me. I donât pass up free things.â And that was the truth, spending most of her adulthood working to contribute to her familyâs livelihood, and blowing the rest of her cash on stupid irresponsible purchases, she wasnât one to turn down any idea. She placed one earbud back into her ear comfortably as she balanced on her skates, âYou meant now, right? Bean Brew is around the corner and if I never see you again Iâll never get that free coffee. I'll pass on the ice pack though, I've taken worse falls.â she said while pointing her thumb behind her, an air of humor always at home in her voice. âWhatâs that?â she added, nodding in the direction of the camera he carried.Â
Dot giggled at the comment, she was sure some would argue that sheâd in fact, explode into pink confetti if burst. Dorothy scrambled to her feet, dusting off her knees before holding a hand out to the stranger. âOh, Iâm okay. I mosh every weekend, this was nothing. Promise.â She shrugged off the soreness of her knees, and instead focused on getting her on her feet quickly so she could recover the few want ads that didnât fly into the curbside sludge. âIâm Dottie, by the way. Youâre pretty good at that skating thing.â
âRight on!â Trix yelled out when Dottie reached out a hand to her, grabbing it and shooting herself up. âMosh? Like at a show? God, I havenât gone to a show in forever. Itâs been like two whole weeks.â Trix laughed, âYouâre a bit young? Or...am I a bit old? Oh...oh no.â Trix pondered, hand resting to her chin as she spaced out at the concept. âLetâs not discuss.â she joked, nodding at Dottie. âYou think so? Pretty good at falling on my ass.â she smacked her own bottom carelessly. âYou should see me in the rink.â Trix said as she moved around in a slow circle, playing with her foot work to show off to Dottie. âWhatâre these?â she asked, attention span short, reaching down to grab some of the papers Dottie had dropped.Â

She wasnât and she shouldnât. But. "Iâm not saying Iâm not, butâŚâ Zoe trailed off coyly, pulling the other girl to her feet â or, well, to her skates. The bewilderment at the girlâs forwardness passed after a fraction of a second. âIs busting your ass how you pick up girls? I mean, if thatâs what theyâre into, rights. I wonât kink-shame.â At the attention drawn to her hair, she gives her hair a flip, a ripple flowing through the curtain of red. âI know, right? All natural ginger, baby!â It was a scientific fact that her red hair was her best feature. âIt says âI was born to be seen.â Except by skaters, obviously, but Iâm not mad. Where are you dashing off to?â
âSad.â Trix shrugged, not super butt hurt if the red head wasnât hitting on her, but she wouldnât have minded. Trix nodded at Zoe, âDepends, is it working?â a soft smirk pursed onto the blondâs lips. She waved her hand, âBesides, if I tell you all my pick up secrets, whatâs the point?â Trix would be a liar if she said sheâd never used her skates to sneak a date. Though that wasnât what had happened moments prior, she wouldnât of been upset if it ended in her favor. âItâs really so pretty! Like I could spot you in a crowd, hands down. Itâs really rock & roll, too.â she complimented the girl, genuinely and not out of flirting. âUh,â Trix put her hands to her hips and let out a raspberry, âI seem to have forgotten. That...canât be good.â she laughed.Â
Rue lets out an âoofâ as their bodies collide but recovers quickly as they watch the other fall to the ground. The real victim of this accident was the tray of coffees that they had been carrying as they were on their way to work and was feeling generous enough to give Rob and the rest of them something to help them get through the day. They watch as the liquid runs along the sidewalk. âDammit.â They mutter under their breath. âTell that to my mocha latte. You can live with a little bruise on your tailbone.â Rue leans down, outstretching their hand to help the other up. âIt serves you right for skating on the sidewalk. You ever think thereâs a bike lane for a reason?â
âOooh......fuck.â Trixâs eyes trailed to the side at the awkwardness of the coffee dripping down the sidewalk. She was surprised the stranger reached a hand out to her, and she grabbed it quickly before the offer expired, rising to balance herself on her skates. âThanks. I wonât say anything about you putting coffee above a human body,â she said, doing just that, âbut uh, wow, that really sucks. Yikes.â Trix grimaced, swaying forward and back on their skates. âI would offer to pay for it but like, I wonât. I mean, I canât. You know, money is tight.â she shrugged and then laughed, âOh, you think I trust New York drivers not to end my life? Rather a person than a Porsche.âÂ
âWoah, woah, woah. Are you alright?â He hadnât even seen her crash into him, just felt the thump and subconsciously gripped his coffee tighter barely managing to save it. âFuckâSorry.â Realizing heâd only made the effort to save his drink rather than the person whoâd fallen to the ground, he reached out a hand. âAnything broken?âÂ
Trix looked up at the man sheâd crashed into, his hand gripping his coffee for dear life. She looked at the hand he reached out to her and cocked an eyebrow before she considered taking it, âDepends, are you rich?â
Dot was in her usual state of being, a stack of âmusicians wantedâ ads in her arms and her hearing obscured by bulky headphones blasting Mozartââ as mentioned by her professor, sheâd be learning the arrangement in the fall and it was best to get a good head start. She was halfway done fastening her ad onto a lamp post when a stranger (on wheels??) collided with her small frame, sending them both to the ground. âHolyââ!â she gasped, her hands instantly clasping over her mouth as she watched the sky rain fluorescent pink construction paper. âAre you okay? You arenât hurt, are you?âÂ
Trix barely saw the girl on the floor near her, looking up to bright pink paper in the sky like magic, she grinned. âItâs like I popped you and confetti came out!â Trix leaned forward to tighten the laces on her skates, choosing to stay on the ground where she was in talking level with the other blonde. âDonât worry about me, I eat cement as a hobby. You donât put on skates without expecting to dive at some point.â she said in reference to falling, a scrape always making a home on her knee. She looked at her hands to see reddening scratches on her palms from trying to catch herself. âAre you good? Took it like a fighter.â she finally looked over and smiled, reaching her leg out to nudge Dottieâs leg.Â

Zoe was an adult. She should not have thought it was peak comedy when someone ate shit. And yetâŚ. âIâve seen worse asses,â she giggled as she extended a hand. âMe? Brick? Youâre no fairy yourself.â
Trix was relieved the stranger laughed too instead of yelling at her (which she expected from good olâ New York). When the other girl commented, she tilted her head to the side and scoffed, âAre you...hitting on me? Thatâs cheesy.â she shrugged with a grin, âI mean cool if you are, and too bad if you aren't, this would be a top tier Rom-Com Meet Cute.â she reached out to grab the girlâs extended hand, sliding as she balanced herself on her skates to rise. âOh, see now thatâs a compliment. God, your hair is so red. Is it naturally that color? Itâs so fucking bright. Damn, I love it.âÂ

hi itâs your girl toon, ready to give you love!!!
SOME BASICS ABOUT TRIX
Birthplace: Ridgewood, Queens
Sexuality: Bisexual
Birthday: May 27th, 1995 (Gemini)Â
Personality: Trix is full of fire and energy. She craves fun and colorful personalities, she loves to say long live rock & roll like a super fan while barely knowing all the classics. Her favorite day of the week is Lazy Sundays which is just an excuse to stay in her three day old pajamas all day while eating popcorn and binge watching television, she absolutely hates being 25 (one day sheâll blink and be 30, and then sheâll have to kill herself), shitty action films make up her entire DVD collection (yes, she still has DVDs), and due to being heavily invested in the NYC Roller Derby community (and just downright careless) she is queen of the mystery bruises. She doesnât have the best sense of personal space and social cues, often saying the first thing that comes to mind, but sheâs really just out here trying to be herself.
Music: Trix is not musically inclined. She loves music but sheâs never played an instrument in her life and is more of an audience/the type of person to sit at a drum set and go berserk, raising her arms at the end and screaming I LOVE YOU NEW YORK!Â
A BRIEF HISTORY (ALWAYS....POTENTIAL TO BE EDITED)
Trix was born Beatrice Harper, but Trix was something her father used to call her as a kid. She has since reclaimed it, integrating it into her roller derby life. She was born and raised in Queens, only recently moving to Crown Heights five years ago with her entire family (her biological grandmother, her two biological younger half-siblings, her step mother, and her older non biological brother.)
Her father, Jonas Harper, married fellow New York native Sandra Rubio, when Trix was seven and Sandraâs son was 11. Her father was the primary breadwinner of the family, moving in his mother, and having a full house as Sandra had two more kids. Trix always had a super close bond with her siblings.Â
When her father died her junior year of high school, she felt her family cripple under the financial burden, and instead of pursuing her own dreams she opted for working when she could to help contribute. (Itâs not like she had an inch of an idea what she wanted to do with her life anyway.)Â
Sheâs been working at on-and-off at Rose Dinner ever since, and they let her wear her skates at work because the guests tip her better when she does. Sheâs left a few times to pursue other jobs but her restlessness and inability to commit keeps her coming back. She still lives at home because it makes the bills easier if they all contribute, but also because moving out means like...being an adult? They moved to Crown Heights a few years ago.Â
Half of the time her grandmother is telling her sheâs lazy and not working enough, and the other half of the time her older brother is telling her sheâs selling herself short. Truth is, sheâs been holding onto the guise of responsibility and family as an excuse not to change what sheâs used to.
What brings her the most joy is Roller Derby. Her father was the first person to put her on roller blades as a kid, and she grew up skating, but only got into roller derby after graduating high school. She plays for Honey Punch, and her best friends on her team who sheâll often refer to as their skate names are Dollface, Lady MacDeath, Jenny Jawbreaker, and Banshee. She started going by Trix again when she started roller derby, which made her feel like she had a connection to her dad, and her skate name is The Terminatrix (yes, she did that).Â
Her goal is to eventually try out for the Gotham Girls Roller Derby in October, but itâs complicated.
Overall sheâs a little kid in a big kidâs body, and she uses humor to cover up the fact that sheâs actually pretty lost.Â
WANTED CONNECTIONS
Skate Friends:Â People/skateboarders/etc who go to the skate park or skate meet ups, where they can hang out or take videos of each other.
Best Friends: Trix is from New York, so others who have also been here since their childhood/teenage years that could be long term good friends with her would be awesome! Any other friends too! Sheâs pretty clingy and while she tries her best to be loyal, she is the type to switch up plans with minimal warning. I see her friends often thinking âTypical Trixâ and may even get frustrated with her sometimes. She thinks the people in her life will always be there, and honey that just ainât true.Â
Coworkers: Trix has been working at Rose Diner for years now and the staff there feels like a little community. Growing up in Queens sheâs also big on doing stuff for the community/locals, like delivering groceries to her elderly neighbor when she can. If your character has a family that might know her, or theyâre someone to post flyers around the neighborhood about community based events or meet ups, letâs collab!Â
Exes/Flings: I normally donât pre-plot romances and Iâm not attached to this because I love the organic route but Trix has just lived here her whole life and she is very forward but kind of a spaz so I imagine they have to exist LOL.
