not feeling great. if someone can come over and keep me company thatd be cool. triplets are here so im trying not to. yknow. break down or anything. i dont wanna upset the babies
The light coming in through their windows brightens and there is a knock on the door.
*Utur heads over to the door, gently pulling it open as the triplets chirp curiously at the light.*
oh, hey daisy, nice to see you. sorry, i might not be. great company right now.
"Yeah, I know. Sorry you're going through a lot right now, she seemed a decent kid. Anyway, your prayers have been answered!" she chuckles, "I'm here to help with the kids, or just hang if you want. Figured I may as well, I've not got a lot else to do."
thanks, i appreciate it. come on in.
*They give Daisy a weary smile, and gesture for her to come in, holding the door open for her*
i uh. i have tea
"Tea sounds lovely," she smiles back, and the sunlight shines bright enough that even the interior is as bright as day. Then she hunches down to fit through the doorway - it was taller than average, but still a little small for her.
"This is a cozy place you've got here," she comments.
thanks. its uh, its comfy. i like it here.
*The toddlers pile onto each other to look at Daisy as she enters. Seems they're quite curious about her*
you got any preferences? for uh, the tea?
"No, I'm fine with seeing what kind of tea you enjoy this time," she says, "I doubt you keep ambrosia on hand, after all."
Then she sits on the floor next to the toddlers, still towering over them. "Hello little ones, how are you?" she smiles.
right, i'll grab some food and tea and stuff.
*Utur heads off, as the toddlers basically swarm Utur*
STARRY: yous big! SUNNY: hows you so big? MOONIE: glowy! pretty!
Daisy grins at them. "I'm big because I'm a grown-up! I bet if you eat well you can get this big too, eventually!"
She ruffles the hair of Sunny, already secretly picking favorites.
"And thank you, dearhearts, flattery will get you everywhere. You're all very pretty as well."
*The triplets make a soft chirping noise, Sunny leaning into the affection. Moonie and Starry bump their heads against her hand as best they can, also wanting affection*
MOONIE: me too? me too? STARRY: mememe!! me!
*Sunny seems content to stay where they are right now*
"Oh, alright, since you asked!" she grins, and gives headpats to the other two, one in each gigantic hand.
"You're all such lovely children, what are your names?"
*The three toddlers chirp off their names ("Moonie!" "Starry!" "Sunny!") in turn, Starry and Moonie leaning into her hands happily*
MOONIE: Wes chose thems ourselves!
"Oh that's wonderful!" she picks all three of them up. "Sunny, eh? Why, that's just like me! My name might be Daisy, but I'm a sun goddess, you know? And Starry and Moonie are lovely too, of course."
*The three of them chirp happily. Starry cuddles up close to Daisy's chest, while Moonie reaches up slightly to her hair, and Starry gently pats her face*
SUNNY: Oooh! Sun! Sun! I wan'ed the sunny name cause im good at at, uh, at doin stuff when is bright! an moonie is good a stuff when is dark, and starrys good in the betweeny bits!
*Sunny seems very proud of remembering when each of them are best able to do things*
MOONIE: th' sun is what the bright in the sky is called. an thas yous if yous sun!
"Ah, I'm not quite like your parent, dearhearts," she says, "It's not that I Am the sun. It's that the sun is Mine, there is a difference. But that's very close." she tilts her head slightly so that Moonie can reach her hair better.
"And that's all very interesting, about when you're good at doing things!! You're all very smart."
*The three toddlers nod excitedly, and babble a little - it's less that they're not speaking inteligably, and more that they're talking over each other too much to understand. Moonie runs their fingers through her hair, entranced, as Sunny just... baps her nose very gently. Starry is comfortable where they are"
Daisy giggles, and glows a little brighter. "My, you're all positively adorable! And so well-behaved... Or is that just for me, and you're normally hellions?"
they're usually pretty decent, until they get overexcited
*Utur walks out, bringing with them a tray with two cups of tea, as well as a jug of milk and bowl of sugar. The triplets look up as they hear Utur and reach for them with a chirp of "Ama!" Utur smiles, softly, and sets the tea tray down on the coffee table, moving next to Daisy to take Moonie and Sunny from her. Starry is comfortable where they are, and chirp at Utur, softly*
didnt know how you like your tea, so i brought out some milk and sugar.
"Very kind of you," Daisy nods, and reaches around Starry to spoon a little sugar in her tea before drinking it. "And that's good, that they're mostly well-behaved. Easier on you, I'm sure - triplets are hard enough as is."
yeah... they were on their own for a bit before my partner found them, so im glad they're as energetic as they are, really. i was concerned they might be struggling because of it, but they seem to be exactly where they should be, developmentally
*Sunny and Moonie nuzzle Utur, chirping happily*
"That's good as well," she nods, "I'm afraid I'm not terribly familiar with the developmental stages of your sort of being, so I wouldn't have been able to tell either way."
She drinks her tea with one hand, and with the other she gives more headpats to Starry.
fair, yeah. i used to be human, so im not super familiar, but i sort of raised kish back when i was human, and i have another kid around the same age who's been growing up alongside these three. my partner - mike - looks after the other little one. their name is spatula, they're the only one of my kids who's biologically related to me. i think? its a long story
*Sunny rests their head on Utur's shoulder, and Moonie baps at their locks, happily*
"It always is... Me and my wife just have two, and they're much older than these, but we only took them in recently." She frowns a little. "I think... I can kind of remember seeing you and a young Kishar out and about sometimes, back then. I wasn't paying much attention, and I was Shamash - or perhaps you'd know the name Utu? at the time, so it's pretty blurry... Ah well, that's old history."
She shrugs.
"I mean, I'm a woman now and I was a man then, a lot has changed. Anyway, it's nice that your partner is taking at least some of the work, and it's good for these littles to have playmates their age."
huh, didnt know you had memories from then. yeah, i basically raised kishar. i had no idea what i was doing at the time, but. i think i did okay. its kinda weird to me that when it comes to eldritch biology kishar and i are considered twins now. ill always feel older than them, i think.
*They hum, as Starry shuffles a little, getting comfortable*
things certainly have changed since then
"They really have," she agrees, "And, for clarification - the further back my memories go, the worse they are. Especially as I, uh... change forms. That muddies the waters quite a bit. But they're still there, and you talking about that brought a few out."
She cradles Starry a little tighter to her chest, just to make sure they wouldn't fall.
"But. Yeah, biology is very strange."
understandable. you're fine, i didn't expect you to have memories of then at all. i guess you could find those memories useful if you need something from back then? otherwise, i figure you might find memories from old forms jarring.
*They shrug, idly, as Moonie does their best to climb on Utur's shoulder*
though i guess the differences could be interesting to compare
"Eh, I'm used to it," she shrugs, "It's a bit like... Oh, what's it called that the kids are reading these days? Isekai? It's a bit like that. Some things are different, some stay the same for a while, and most memories are useful in some way."
true, yeah. i guess it's just an interesting thing to think about, since i dont experience anything similar to that.
*They hum briefly, as Starry bumps their face against Daisy's jaw, chirping*
then again, i guess most of the stuff you experience is different to me. im no deity, after all
"Very true," she says, nuzzling Starry a little, "And I'm not eldritch at all, it's interesting to note the differences... Have these children got a clear idea of their concept yet? They mentioned being good at doing things at different times of day."
not yet, but im starting to suspect they may have something to do with like, times of the day. the actual concepts that is. the times of day may be more the cause than the side effect, and all that.
*They give Moonie and Sunny a little nuzzle, causing both to mrrp, affectionately*
then again, i might be biased. my concept is time after all
"That may well be so..." she dims her wings so that she can lean back against the couch safely. "Well, if it is that then you're lucky you found them before I did... Would have fit so well for me and Luna." She grins, chuckling a little. "I jest, of course. But still, I think they're going to be some of my favorites of the kids around here."
heh, fair. i figure if i wasnt looking after them, you and luna would probably be a good idea. guess it depends on how the little ones would have felt, though.
*Starry chirrups, and Sunny and Moonie chirrup back. They do this a few times for no apparent reason*
"Yes, of course," she nods, "Their feelings are the most important."
She takes another sip of the tea.
"What kind of tea is this, anyway? It's quite good."
uh, earl grey. its my favourite, so its the one i default to. im glad you like it
*They smile, softly*
"I'll be sure to remember it then," she smiles back, "Though, it is my understanding that how good tea is also depends on the skill of the brewer."
thank you... that's kind of you to say.
*They nuzzle Sunny and Moonie, gently, as the babies chrp for attention*
im glad you like it. i was hoping it would be, yknow, satisfactory at least.
"Oh I'm pretty easygoing, for a goddess," she says, "I don't insist on only having the fanciest things. All the good stuff is more common anyway."
She starts running her fingers through Starry's hair.
"Besides, it's the Intent that matters most to me, I can feel that quite acutely."
huh, that's interesting. i didnt know that was possible. neat
*Starry leans into Daisy's touch, happily*
sounds useful, being able to feel intent. figure it'd make it hard to lie to you
"Oh yes, quite so. And I think it's possible for me since I live off of prayer and worship and belief, which are all related things..."
interesting... should i uh, be believing in you super hard to offer you a snack? im... not entirely sure how i would go about doing that, but i can try. i dont wanna be a bad host or anything
"Don't worry about it," she says, reaching over to ruffle their hair as well. "I've got that part taken care of, and it's not a hunger or eating thing. The thought is appreciated, though."
*Utur hums, slightly, but it's clear they don't mind the hair-ruffling*
as long as you're happy. i really appreciate you coming here to help, so. yknow. id like to make sure youre enjoying your
"That's very kind of you," she says. "Anyway," she puts the teacup back down. "I think it might be time to play some games with these kids."
She looks down at them. "What do you say, would you like to run around outside for a bit?"
*The triplets chirp and nod excitedly, speaking over each other as they announce their desire to run around outside. Utur chuckles, and carefully stands, still carrying Sunny and Moonie*
sounds like a yes to me. let's head outside then
"Excellent," Daisy smiles and gets up herself. Once the group is outside she puts Starry down, and stretches. "Alright kids, what's your favorite game?"
*Utur puts Sunny and Moonie down as well, next to their sibling*
SUNNY: umumum tag!! MOONIE: tag is good! STARRY: wanna run!!!
"Tag is great!" She reaches down and taps Sunny on the nose. "So you're it! Better run, everybody!"
*Sunny squeaks and immediately turns and baps Moonie. Moonie makes a noise of surprise, and turns, but Starry's already running. Sunny runs as well, as Moonie books it after Starry. Utur grins, ready to 'run' if the kids try to catch them next*
Daisy does the same, watching the children with a smile on her face.
"I think I can handle keeping an eye on them, if there's anything you want to get done without their help," she says to Utur.
i do have some cleaning to do...
*As the triplets begin running over the adults, Moonie still chasing Starry, Utur calls out*
i'm going inside to do some cleaning, you be good for daisy, okay?
*The triplets parrot back identical okays, amd Moonie takes the momentary distraction to tag Starry. Starry squawks indignantly, and attempts to bat Sunny, before heading towards Daisy as Utur heads back inside*
Daisy laughs heartily, and plays at running from Starry - though she is careful not to go top speed, she had too much of an advantage on the kids.
*Starry follows Daisy for a bit, before managing to put on an unexpected burst of speed and just barely tap her leg. Well, the triplets seem to have expected it, because they take it in stride, running and giggling excitedly*
"Oho..." Daisy cackles, and starts chasing Moonie and Sunny. "I'll get you yet!"
After following them in a few circles, she increases her pace just enough to tap Moonie on the head. Then she does a backflip away.
*Moonie squeaks, before running to try and tag Sunny. They manage it, just, and immediately run in the opposite direction. Sunny spins in place for a moment, trying to spot Starry and Daisy... and ends up making themself dizzy.*
"Woah there kid," Daisy says, stopping in place for a moment, "You okay there?"
*Sunny manages to stop themself, wobbing in place for a minute, before managing to steady themself.*
SUNNY: im better now! ev'ryfins stopped being spinny!
*Without another moment's hesitation, they make a b-line for Daisy. Seems they have the quick recovery time of many small kids*
"Great!" she calls back, dashing to the side. "See if you can catch me then!"
*Sunny yells an adorable battle cry, and chases after Daisy, trying with all their little might to catch up with her*
Daisy leads them on a merry chase, quite easily with the height advantage in speed, but eventually lets them catch her without trying to make it too obvious.
Then it was her turn to be the chaser again, and so it went for quite some time.
*The triplets have a wonderful time running around; it's clear they'd be happy to do so all day, if they were allowed to. After a while though, it's clear they're beginning to get tired. They're just toddlers, they can only play for so long*
"oookay, dearhearts," she says, starting to scoop them up, "I think it might be time for a nap. Come on, let's get you back inside."
*The triplets grumble in discontent, but snuggle comfortably in her arms anyway, making little mrr-ing noises as they do so*
