Anastasia (1997) has a pretty weird narrative structure in that, while Zombie Rasputin is critical to the film's prologue and climax, he's almost entirely immaterial to its actual plot. The audience knows about him, but none of the major characters do, including Anastasia herself, and all of his attempts to assassinate her either fizzle before she becomes aware of them or fail in ways that can be attributed to mundane agents. From the perspective of literally everyone with a speaking role other than the bat, he pops out of nowhere in the last five minutes of the film and starts trying to kill everyone with wizard bullshit, then promptly explodes.

I've been mulling this over. I'm of two minds.

She was very racist, and would absolutely have been sympathetic to the Nazis. But she was also a sharp PR mind, and she would likely jump ship as soon as they became unpopular.

I think knowing how it all ended, she would be pretty horrified at how it all turned out. She wouldn't become a savitri devi style esoteric hitlerist, that's not blavatsky.

Or would she have been an arch zionist because she subscribed to the American (Protestant) "We have to have all the Jews of the World move to Palestine Israel and establish a Jewish ethnostate/apartheid state, otherwise one of the key requirements for our interpretation of the Christian End Times and Jesus's Second Coming can't happen¹" model of non-Jewish Zionism?

I'm of a mind that she'd be more into the European model of post-war non-Jewish Zionism, with a hefty dose of "If we concentrate all the world's Jews in Palestine, we can thus keep them trapped there indefinitely." Much like how Israel laid siege to Gaza after the Second Intifada (minus the keeping them trapped there indefinitely part re Israel and Gaza)

But then I'm not that familiar with how Blavatsky felt about the more, let's be kind and say "adventurously creative" aspects of American Protestantism, for all I know she'd have been just peachy with it too
