And then on the other hand, Lovecraft worked hard to break out of that mindset later in life. He really tried to change his way of thinking and even married a Jewish woman. Really, recognizing racism and trying to be less racist in the days before the Civil Rights movement is kind of saying a lot for a historical figure.

The real problem is that tumblr is seriously anti-growth and anti-healing. Got a mental illness? Suffer forever, bettering yourself is ableist and offensive. Been through some trauma? You are officially permitted to do whatever the fuck you want to anybody who resembles somebody who hurt you, assuming they’re on the official list of acceptable targets. Made a tasteless joke nine years ago? You are the scum of the earth forever and should be fired from every job and maybe set on fire.
