« WE HAVE BEEN WATCHING YOU. Measuring you, dissecting you in the quiet autopsy of ambition, in the sacred calculus of hunger and ruin. And yet, you persist. Exquisite thing, self-fashioned from sinew and silver-tongued lies, you understand, don’t you?—That this world does not belong to those who ask politely. It belongs to those who take, to those who carve their names into history with a steady hand and an unflinching gaze.
The Trial of Hearts calls for you.
Lucky thirteen names. Lucky you.
And now, you must decide. Do you step forward? Or do you wait, breathless, as the noose tightens around the throat of hesitation?
The board is set, eager to welcome you.
Be beautiful. Be brilliant. Be courageous.
Most ardently, we await you. »

At a Swiss prestigious BLUE IVY UNIVERSITY, where ambition calcifies into power, thirteen alumni are handpicked by a Secret Society each year to partake in the Trial of Hearts — a grande spectacle of a game of persuasion, betrayal, and an unforgettable high. The greatest honor, the sweetest absolution and fulfillment of desire, and the cruelest sentence. Lose and you're exposed, exiled, ruined beyond repair. It is told the thirteen receive six months to sharpen their knives until the game begins. This year's batch, however, bears different teeth. The alumnus whom everyone thought would win —the golden prodigy, the untouchable destiny— is found dead on a Sunday on chapel stone, throat opened like a second mouth, body arranged in perfect repose. A renaissance painting rendered in flesh and finale. No note. Only elegant violence, a statement written in absence, a rupture in the grand design. Now twelve remain, and the music has already changed its tune, for no one here is innocent.
THE MESSAGE IS CLEAR: SOMEONE HAS ALREADY PLAYED THEIR HAND.
THE TRIAL OF HEARTS is an original 21+ game-theory skeleton-based rp, featuring twelve of the university’s most brilliant and ambitious that are taking part in a Secret Society game. Inspired by The Secret History , The Atlas Six and Gossip Girl, the game’s limited run will unravel the obsessions, betrayals, and secrets of its players, and beg the question: Who will win this year's game?

THE TRIAL OF HEARTS unfurls its velvet claws within the confines of a manor where the Society was once founded, or so the story is told by the DARK-HAIRED WOMAN. She is, and was, your Gamemaster all along. The hand behind every curtain. The breath behind every flame. The sole living testament that the Society and its Trials ever existed at all.
Your FINAL GAME is the matching game, and you are each anointed with new titles, bright and damning as brands pressed into skin, announcing the crimes that belong to you and you only. Only by matching sin to sinner will you unearth THE TRAGEDY's killer. Only confession and surrender will earn you some penance.
And yet, after the game has played its last card, a fire is born by the hand of THE VICTOR, and it devours the TRIAL whole. The manor becomes a labyrinth of smoke and ruin, and one by one you claw your way through its maze with nothing but instinct and the animal will to survive. Not everyone emerges.
And still, mercilessly, the world finds you. In the days and weeks that follow, you are ALL exposed and dragged into the spotlight of the press, dead and living alike, for your SECRETS. You are ALL stripped of your glory. You are ALL rendered undeserving. Unmade.
do you think you would ever do another trial of hearts?
Dear anon, IC, THE SOCIETY will certainly continue its tradition. As it does each year, the TRIAL will begin anew. A new Jack of Hearts, a new theme, a new circle of candidates.
OOC, as much as I deeply enjoyed watching the plot unfold and being an unreliable narrator, I don't think I'll be returning with a new RPG anytime soon.
The international business world watched in abject disbelief, silent witnesses to the slow collapse of mega-conglomerate Sinclair & Co. Once a bastion of culture, wealth, and legacy - a name synonymous with high society and quiet luxury - Sinclair & Co.’s spiraling downfall shocked hundreds of thousands, from its sudden declaration of bankruptcy to the heavily publicized investigations and court hearings on fraud and embezzlement charges. The crumbling of an empire, a veritable institution - and it seemed the betrayal came from within.
Investigators have named Caspar Miller-Duncan, the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of Sinclair & Co., and more notably the ward of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Laurent Sinclair and his late wife, Odessa Arlay-Sinclair, as the main suspect in the case.
Caspar Miller-Duncan was taken in by the Arlay-Sinclair family at fifteen years old, following the untimely passing of his mother, Delia Miller-Duncan, in a tragic car accident. Shortly after her death, his father, Alistair Duncan - the former CSO of Sinclair & Co. (curiously, the same position his son would eventually hold) - mysteriously disappeared. Circulating rumors of foul play surrounding Delia Miller-Duncan’s tragic accident remain unsubstantiated to this day.
A source close to the family shared that Laurent Sinclair had been adamant in his pursuit of guardianship over Miller-Duncan. Records show that it was nearly a year-long custody battle in family court. At the time, this was attributed to the close and enduring friendship between the two families, which began during their formative years as classmates at the prestigious Blue Ivy University.
Following the shocking revelations of Miller-Duncan’s betrayal, our source said they were initially in a state of disbelief, claiming that “Caspar was treated as one of the family.”
Similar accounts have been given by others close to the family, stating that Miller-Duncan was raised alongside the three Arlay-Sinclair children not as a mere ward, but as a brother. A particularly deep kinship existed between Miller-Duncan and the youngest - and only son - of the Arlay-Sinclair family, Nicolai.
Nicolai Arlay-Sinclair, heir to the Arlay-Sinclair fortune, featured heavily in the trial against Miller-Duncan. Though he was notably distraught on the witness stand, it was his account of events that provided the incriminating evidence against Miller-Duncan. When reached for comment following the trial, Nicolai Arlay-Sinclair declined to speak to this reporter.
does the apple fall far from the tree? or does it soak in the poison at its root, a seedling corrupted by foul waters.

Only a handful had accidents worth erasing for the greater cause. LACHLAN was VINCENT's greatest reason for designing the TRIAL OF HEARTS. It was the only way to make LACHLAN win fairly.
The candlelight was unkind to LACHLAN. It deepened the hollows beneath his eyes. Sorrow, it seemed, was the most faithful of his tenants. "I haven't slept in weeks." His voice fractured as he spoke. Time, that great promised mercy, had kept none of its promises at all. His brother's, COLIN's, face remained where it had always been: Precisely behind his eyes, permanent and irreplaceable. "It's my fault," he sighed at last. "All of it."
"You never told me." VINCENT stood mere steps away. He had always been cursed with too much curiosity. The particular, restless kind that transformed him into something of a bloodhound the moment he caught the scent of something buried. "You called, and said nothing. You knew I would find out eventually. Still, you said nothing."
"Is that why you abandoned me?" LACHLAN rasped, his love and resentment for VINCENT tightly intertwined. Betrayal laced every word, a beast that grew with abandonment. "You think I murdered my own brother?"
VINCENT narrowed his gaze. "You would not be here," he countered quietly, his words like two hands closing around the throat, "if you had nothing to hide."
LACHLAN's lungs seized. His vision blurred, and in the space where VINCENT had stood, his brother materialized. Pale, accusing, lips moving without sound: You killed me. You were too much of a coward to even warn me. He did not hear whatever VINCENT said next. He had stopped being in the room.
"Stop—" LACHLAN choked out, sudden tears cutting bright tracks down his face. "Please—"
Without a word, VINCENT drew a dagger. A leather bracelet coiled around the hilt, stamped with their initials, a memory of some former life in which they had both still believed in the word forever. He watched his closest friend unravel like worn rope. Slowly at first, and then all at once.
"Would you kill me too?" He held the dagger out, grip first. "If it came to it, if it helped you prove whatever it is you're so desperately trying to prove, would you?"
"No." LACHLAN's whole body trembled with the word. "I can't—I would never—this isn't—" You killed me. His brother returned, one finger raised and pointing. How can you live with yourself?
How could he? Even VINCENT had already decided who he was. Perhaps death was truly the last debt left. In one fluid motion, LACHLAN seized the dagger and reversed his grip. The blade pressed against his own throat, and the steel was foreign and terrible, and for one long and devastating breath—
"No!" VINCENT lunged, seized by the sudden, visceral terror of going too far. The dagger, slick with sweat and tears and the salt of grief, twisted between their grasps in a struggle both as brief as it was violent. The blade arced wild, a motion neither of them controlled, and opened VINCENT's throat in one clean slash. Crimson bloomed across his collar, spilling down the front of his uniform.
LACHLAN staggered backward, the blood-slick dagger slipping from his grasp. In absolute horror, he watched the only person he had left stare back with eyes wide with shock before final, helpless, tragic collapse.
Rising Theatre Star Found Dead at 26 in Shocking Circumstances
At just 26, Yasiel Noriega had already done what most performers spend a lifetime chasing: they made audiences feel seen. Critics described their stage presence as "disarmingly human," a rare quality that couldn't be taught or manufactured. Their physical precision, their instinct for silence, the way they could shift an entire room's emotional gravity with a single look, it was the kind of talent that only comes along once in a generation. What nobody knew until now was that in their final weeks, Yasiel Noriega completed a full manuscript for an original theatrical work, described by those who have read it as "devastating and visionary". In a twist that has left the industry speechless, acclaimed indie filmmaker Jasper Mustermann has quietly acquired the rights, announcing plans to adapt it into a feature film.

THE MIMIC — EXPOSED / THE SECRET
THE MIMIC didn't mean for them to die. But in that moment of panic, THE MIMIC made a choice and they didn't just dispose of the body. They became the missing person, adopting their identity, their connections, their entire life. THE MIMIC became a better version of them, and the original soul was swallowed whole, vanishing without a trace.
What began as desperate survival evolved into compulsion. Since then, THE MIMIC has "absorbed" multiple identities, each time their performance grew stale, each time the applause began to fade. They leave only mysterious disappearances in their wake. Every new identity brings fresh acclaim, fresh connections, fueling an addictive cycle of reinvention through elimination. Jealousy, perhaps, at the root of it all.
Somewhere in their home, a trail to their victims lies hidden: A ticking time bomb of evidence that could unravel everything. But the deepest terror isn't discovery. It's the quiet, creeping realization that after years of becoming other people, THE MIMIC sometimes can't remember who they were to begin with.
It was for this very reason that THE MIMIC confided in THE TRAGEDY, looking up to him the way a believer looks up to a God. He could see right through them, as he did with all the others. He could see the faces they wore, hear the voices they borrowed, read the mimicry threaded through their every movement. Unlike most, he appreciated their gift for camouflage and their hunger for gossip. And so he extended his hand, drawing them into THE TRIAL OF HEARTS, inviting them to his side in weaving the plot together.

Authorities confirmed today that Zahira Ashraf and brother Odion Ashraf have been arrested on charges related to an alleged conspiracy with the late heir Mazen Ashraf-Verhoeven to forge the will of deceased Verhoeven Industries CEO Thibault Verhoeven Sr.
According to investigators, the arrests follow a major breakthrough in the ongoing probe sparked by Mazen Ashraf-Verhoeven’s recent death. Officials say the investigation uncovered evidence of deliberate tampering with Thibault Sr.’s will, along with disturbing proof of a contracted hit targeting Mazen’s brother, Thibault Verhoeven.
Law enforcement sources describe the case as a complex web of financial fraud and violent criminal intent, with additional charges reportedly under consideration as forensic and financial analyses continue. Prosecutors have not yet announced a trial date.
What feels like a lifetime ago...
“It’s done?”
Zahira tried not to wrinkle her nose at the stench of cigarette smoke and gunpowder, the cloud of it so thick it managed to seep past the shroud of black that covered her face, the veil of mourning she still insisted to wear despite the lack of an audience that mattered. Was it a genuine act of love lost? Was it a facade that helped piece together the backdrop for the ultimate con? She herself couldn’t tell anymore. At this point, she was well past the frivolities of intention.
“It’s done.” The man with nicotine stained teeth handed over a thick envelope tied together by twine. The weight of her new life bound in manila paper, greasy fingerprints left behind in a sloppy show of nonchalance. She winced. “Is this…?”
“Don’t insult me, Neheb.” The man scoffed. Serpent. He wasn’t wrong.
“The real papers have already been sent out. They should be in that jackal’s lawyer’s lap by morning.” Of course. They were professionals after all. Another scoff came from the man before her, indicating to her that she had perhaps muttered that last bit out loud.
“Professionals, yes. Though don’t sell yourself short, Neheb, it runs in the family.” Her chest tightened as he eyed her meaningfully, only for his eyes to slide next to her, to the boy… no man, seated quietly beside her, eyes downcast and knuckles white on his knees. Family. It unnerved her how different they were, yet bound together by blood.
“Don’t look at him.” She hissed.
“I can do whatever the fuck I want, whore.” He growled back in rapid arabic. “You think forging the last will and testament of Thibault Verhoeven was light work? This is a favor to your brother if anything else.” He spat out a glob of spit to the side to ward off the bad energy brought about by the name of the dead. “You and your son? You owe me your fucking lives. You may be dripping in rubies now, Zahira, but never forget where you came from. A serpent will always be on its belly.” He flashed his own ruby, large and ostentatious on his finger, a reminder. A threat.
Zahira was quiet for a moment more before Mazen looked up, the only time he allowed himself to speak.
"And... Thib?" The words felt like glass in his throat. The man's smile was cruel as he dropped a photo of Thibault on his desk. "We'll make that decision when we need to. Just... play nice for now, little snake. You'll know when it's time." Maz swallowed tightly before averting his gaze once more.
“Now get out of my sight. We’ll set up a wire for your payment. Every month, I will expect it.” He waved his hand in dismissal, one that Zahira did not hesitate to obey. Without another word, she reached out and grabbed her son’s hand, pulling him out of his chair as she dragged him out of that filthy room. It should have felt different… she was leaving with the keys to a kingdom… yet she still felt dirty.
“We do not speak of this, Mazen.” She whispered as they were stopped by large men with guns the size of her thigh. She took in a deep breath, spine like iron as they blindfolded them and herded them into an unmarked car.
“We take this to our grave.” She hissed. Sure, a serpent will always lie on its belly, but all the more reason for them to use their fangs.
“Yes?” She insisted as her nails bit into his skin.
“... Yes, Mother.” Was all he could say as he felt the car move beneath him.
