Evie let out a soft laugh at his 'passenger princess duties' comment, shaking her head as she lifted her menu a little higher—just enough to partially hide her face while she peeked over the top at him. ❝ Oh, I’m sorry, Trev, ❞ she hummed lightly, eyes bright with amusement. The menu tilted as if she was considering her options seriously, but really she was just using it as cover while she smiled to herself. ❝ Next time I’ll roll out a red carpet too, since chivalry is apparently a full-service package. ❞

he fiddled with the menu while they waited to get their order taken as he glanced over at evie. hearing her comment, he let out a dramatic sigh, "oh my gosh thank you so much, i'm so glad you're apologizing for not opening the door for me." he placed his hand on his heart giving a relieved yet playful smile on his expression. "i guess you're forgiven." there's a pause as he jaw drops dramatically, "a red carpet? for me? oh my gosh, you shouldn't have wow.. now i'll be expecting you to pick me up, and have that red carpet waiting for me outside leading to your car."

Evie slid into the booth, letting herself sink back into the vinyl seat. She smirked across at him, elbows coming to rest on the table as she leaned in just slightly. ❝ Next time? Trev, you’re lucky I let you open the door at all. I’m not sure I’m ready to start sharing my professional passenger princess duties. ❞ Her tone was light, teasing, but there was a warmth to it that softened the bite. She would for sure be opening his door for him just to tease.

as he settled himself in the booth, he held the menu while he looked over at her when she made a comment about holding the door for him next time, "wow, talk about disrespectful, guess chivalry is dead, well at least for you. it's called sharing the passenger princess duties." he makes a face at her jokingly before smirking. he honestly didn't expect anything from her door wise or passenger princess wise, he honestly didn't mind driving his friends around.

Evie laughed the second he admitted defeat, folding her arms with exaggerated satisfaction. Her grin lingered as she shook her head. At the image of him sitting in her driveway pouting, she snorted softly, already able to picture it way too clearly. ❝ Oh my god, you wouldn't! ❞ Though she could see it all too well. When he parked, Evie unbuckled her seatbelt, still smiling to herself before glancing over just in time to catch him jogging around to open her door. The sight earned an immediate softening in her expression, fondness slipping through all the teasing so naturally she didn’t even try to hide it.

trevor enjoyed any time he got to spend with his friends. whether it was together or just one on one with one another. tonight just so happened to be just him and evie which he didn't mind at all. their playful teasing and banter was one of his favorite things to do with evie, it was never a dull moment when it came to hanging out with her. "oh i think you and i both know that i would." he looks at her with a serious face but his tone was joking. now that they were at the diner, he locked his car door once she stepped out and they both headed inside.

Evie let out an offended little gasp at that, turning in her seat just enough to point at him dramatically. ❝ First of all, if you’re ever not around to hook my bait, I simply won’t fish. Problem solved. ❞ She settled back with a grin, the teasing easy now, warmer than before. ❝ And please, you would’ve survived if I said no. Barely, maybe. You probably would’ve sat in your driveway staring moodily into the distance for a few minutes, but you’d recover. Eventually. ❞ She joked with a soft laugh.

at her comment, trevor thought about it for a second before opening his mouth to say something but a chuckle came out first, "okay that's a fair point because why would you be off fishing on your own without me to help hook your bait, okay that's a fair comment." he adds and accepts defeat there, "guess we better go fishing together then just so you're prepared in case you end up in a fishing situation." he shrugs his shoulders nonchalantly. "incorrect, i would've sat in your driveway pouting and being upset until you finally feel bad for saying no then coming to hang out with me eventually." this time he smirks at her with a playful wink.

Evie stared out the windshield for a second like she was considering his entire speech just to find a flaw in it. Of course she couldn’t. That was annoying. She huffed a small laugh anyway, shaking her head as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. ❝ Call it a nice kidnapping. You know, best of friends hanging out, guy outside my house honking. I look like a dick if I say no. ❞ Her mouth twitched, but the teasing softened at the edges as she glanced over at him. ❝ And I’m not hooking my own bait. That’s where I draw the line in our friendship, Trevor. If you love or care about me you will do it for me. ❞

their playful banter was one of trevor's favorite thing to do with all of his friends. they could be play arguing about whatever and still find humor in it in the end. "a nice kidnapping, she says." he stifles a laugh then nodded his head, "yeah you know what, it was a nice kidnapping, without the hostility of an actual kidnapping." he laughed softly, "would have broke my heart if you said no to hanging out with one of your favorite people in the whole world." he teased with a playful wink to her. "oh come on, you gotta learn one day, what if one day i'm not here to help you and you're stuck having to hook your own bait, then what?" a playful tone followed as he commented.

Evie snorted, immediately reaching for the lock button the second he said nope, only to narrow her eyes at him when the doors stayed locked. ❝ Trevor Campbell, this is actually kidnapping. ❞ She pointed accusingly at him before dissolving into a laugh anyway, shaking her head as he pulled onto the road. ❝ And absolutely not. If I ever touch a worm willingly, just assume I’ve been possessed and do something about it. I have no issue with the fishing part it's ugh... the worms. ❞

She settled back into the seat after that, watching the streetlights pass outside the window while his teasing kept tugging little laughs out of her whether she wanted them to or not. By the time he asked what she wanted to eat, her shoulders had loosened some, the tension she’d been carrying all day easing without her really noticing. ❝ Mm. Burgers? Fries? Something aggressively unhealthy. ❞ She glanced over at him with a small grin. ❝ Feels like that kind of night. ❞ A few minutes later, Evie leaned over slightly toward him, bumping her shoulder lightly against his arm this time instead of shoving him.

keeping his eyes on the road, he would look over at evie every so often to make sure he was driving safe. he made a face when she tried to leave the car. "kidnapping? me? kidnapping you? no no no, miss fields, you are incorrect." he paused and shook his head and held his hand up to stop her from continuing. "let's not forget, you willingly got into my car, i did not make you get into my car, you just got in on your own free will." he retaliated with a smirk this time. "so no, you are very much incorrect because this is not a kidnapping." the smile stayed on his expression as he continued driving. "one day, i tell you. you will go fishing with me and i you will hook your own bait."

there was a bit of silence between them, comfortable silence of course. he kept his eyes on the road now and smiled as he drove. he wanted to hang out with evie since he feels as if they have barely hung out in a hot minute so hanging out now was something he was looking forward to. "burgers and fries is absolutely aggressively unhealthy and that actually sounds good right now, we can do that if you want." he looked over at her with a soft smile and expression. "who doesn't love a good relaxing night out with one of your best friends?"

Evie laughed under her breath as she slid into the passenger seat, the warmth from outside still clinging to her skin while she pulled the door shut behind her. She shot him a look the second he said fishing, her nose wrinkling dramatically before she leaned back against the seat with a groan. ❝ Trevor, I swear to god, if you dragged me out here to sit beside a lake and touch worms, I would've actually turned around and gone back inside. ❞ Even while she said it, she was grinning, unable to help herself around him. Between the honking and his stupid finger guns earlier, he’d already managed to pull her out of the mood she’d been stuck in all day, which annoyed her a little considering how effective it was.

trevor was playful with all his friends, he'd joke with them, mess with them but in the end outside of all the jokes, he'd always be there for them. he leaned back against the seat while he waited for evie to get changed as he tapped on the steering wheel before unlocking the door so she could get in. as she settled into the seat, he looked over at her and laughed softly, "oh okay okay so what i'm hearing is, is you actually want to go fishing, and hey it's okay i got you, and let's be real, we both know you would make me hook the worm for you." he teased then locked the doors, "nope, you're not going anywhere." before she could try to unlock the door, he drove away, "and don't even think about tucking and rolling because that is prohibited in my car." he told her with a sweet smile.

Evie had been having a day and hearing the horn, it was obnoxious which made her open up her door to see that it was Trevor outside causing her to laugh and roll her eyes. ❝ That's how you whoa me to come and hang out!? ❞ She shook her head but had a smile on her lips, wishing she had something she could throw in his direction, despite the distance. ❝ Oh god.. they're going to be swapping sip for the next month now! Give me a second. ❞ She held a finger up for him to hold.

he wasn't sure what they were going to do, but figured they'd find something while they were hanging out right? he sat in the car with the windows rolled down as he smiled when she finally realized who it was waiting outside for her, "yes, and it's working." he smirks and gives her the finger guns acting smooth but probably failed. "oh absolutely, i'm sure you and i both know this was bound to happen eventually." he honked his horn once more when she told him to give her a second, "c'mon, c'mon." he rubbed his hands together and waited.
