I read the article, “Converse Chuck Taylors: A Personal Artifact”, and I have to say, I was honestly completely taken away with the brilliant story. It first caught my attention from the other article choices because I’m a big Chuck Taylor fan, and I have worn them on many, many occasions. This story was about a girl who absolutely loved converse chuck taylors. She took her experience with them, and her several pairs of shoes, and made them into a short story that seemed to define who she was. It was a story that had comedy and hardships. I felt more into this article/story more than I have any other assigned reading because she captivated so many emotions during and really made me want to meet her. It made me think about who she is, what she looks like, what she’s interested in, and in whole, she made me want to get to know more about her. At first it just starts off as an awesome Christmas gift, some would even describe it as a Christmas miracle even, and then it turned into what her life has been through and what personal collection has been with her every step of the way (literally). She turned these generic pair of shoes into something much more than what they really are; she turned them into who she is: her confidence, her humor, her personality as a whole. A simple pair of shoes did so much for her and really became like her imaginary friend that we all used to have as kids. They introduced her to her only best friend in High school and they were on her feet when she had to pay her respects and say her goodbye to that same best friend. It was a very dramatic story that even left me in a sad mood through some parts just because of how captivated I was by her great writing. It was almost like a short autobiography, just describing her main years and what has been on her feet every day of those years. I enjoyed the writing very much.
