After I’d left Warner Bros I had a bit more of a wander around since I was in Burbank and there are plenty of other studios in the area
So we have the home of Days of our Lives
And where The Mouse Lives

And I had lunch at Central Perk
The final stop was the Central Perk cafe and museum. Part movie/tv show memorabilia part explaining how things are made from script writing all the way to editing and post production

Obviously not everything is filmed on their town sets. There are also quite a lot of sound stages. We were lucky enough to be able to go onto one because there was no work being done in there
We went into Stage 25 which is known as the Big Bang Theory stage because that’s the one where the show was filmed. The Friends stage was right across the way
On each of the buildings is a plaque like this where they mention some of the notable films and tv shows that were filmed in there. There are some very impressive films mentioned
There are no photos from inside the soundstage, it was one of the few places we weren’t allowed to take photos. I think they said it was set up for George & Mandy’s first Marriage which is a spinoff of Young Sheldon
So this building was used a lot for ER and the interior was where Luke and Lorelai had their first date
Most of these streets look very New York and that was on purpose. When the studios moved to LA in the 30s it was a nothing town so the majority of films were still set on the east coast. But that doesn’t mean that it’s also very easy for it to double as Gotham City and the like
This is The Jungle, it was built for a film in the 70s (I can’t remember which now and the big dip is known as the lagoon, it can be filled with water or dirt for whatever needs to be done, George Clooney rescued someone in ER here, this is where Luke pushed Jess into the water in Gilmore Girls, it was in the Last Samurai and probably most famously, Kermit the Frog has sat on a log in the middle and sang a song about Rainbows

I’ll get back to semi-random streetscapes in a minute. I need to get to the most important part of the tour
When our tour started, our guide asked what shows we were interested in. I immediately and loudly said Dukes of Hazzard and later Gilmore Girls. I mentioned it earlier that I knew the town square in those shows was the same one

We have the Hazzard County police department (which is also Stars Hollow High School from a different angle)
The town square is undergoing renovations so the gazebo isn’t in place. But can’t you just picture The General driving around here on two wheels? (And Lorelai proposing to Luke)

And lol, I have just realised now that I was wearing cutoffs (not Daisy Duke short but cutoffs all the same)

As I mentioned there is a prop department catalogue.
Now we did get to go in there. It looks like the biggest, most cluttered vintage store you have ever seen. We saw 1/3 of one floor and there are 4 floors

Look at that catalogue. For productions they can search that and put in orders or just wander around and put tags on things they want to order

I’ll just say it.
The most disappointing part of the WB tour is when we went past the costume department and our guide told us that they keep all the costumes they’ve had since the 30s.
And then he told us that there is a catalogue but you have to be industry to see it.
There are apparently 50k pairs of shoes and more outfits housed in their warehouse
I want to be able to see that catalogue. I got to briefly see the props catalogue - even if I wasn’t allowed to play with it myself and it looks awesome
The Plus tour took us around the street sets on the lot. While some things get updated for shows, they mostly get reverted back to original once that show/film is done. So the streets look very similar even back to the 30s
On my way to the airport and I finally saw 2 folks getting handcuffed on the side of the road.
Good heavens America I see it all the time on the tv you’ve been letting me down
At the Warner Brothers Studio the fun starts before you even get to the tour. These are some of the things on display in the lobby/gift shop
