Day 7. Last Full Day.
We drove down to the Ngorongoro Crater (which is actually a caldera) floor. There are a lot of animals in a pretty condensed area here. Saw giraffe, zebra (with a lot of babies), wildebeest, an incredible herd of elephants crossing the road, lions, a black rhino, and a hippo emerge from the water and take a leisurely stroll.
Enjoyed our last dinner outside again near a fire pit, at Ngorongoro Farm House, and had the fire lit in our room as we packed (so sad) for our journey home tomorrow night.

Day 6.
So, I’m sitting on our little deck after another great day. We were up at 5:30am for an early morning game drive and boy, was it worth it! We saw a male and two female lions having breakfast. They had killed a wildebeest and we just saw them eating, in the early morning light. Hyenas and vultures were waiting nearby for their turn. It was pretty fabulous. We also saw an amazing sunrise as we set out this morning. We then came back to the lodge for breakfast before heading back out for our afternoon game drive. We saw many animals including a beautiful owl sitting in a tree, a very colorful blue and green lizard also on a tree, several baby bat-eared foxes (can’t get over how cute they are!), 2 more gorgeous cheetah, several more resting lions and a lake filled with white and pink flamingo (Greater and Lesser Flamingo), more hyena, jackal, giraffes, and another hippo pool.

Day 5.
So, some of the animals we saw today: Approximately 12 hyena (so cool!) at all different times, except for 5 of them which we saw together; bat-eared foxes (SO cute!); leopard turtles; storks; a few ‘piles’ of sleeping lions, several big herds of elephants and a few solo elephants; thousands of wildebeest running across the road in front of us, kicking up dirt in their path (that was so amazing!); dwarf mongoose; zebra play fighting; elephants trying to get frisky; a couple of hippo pools; giraffe and even a fabulous giraffe dance between two love birds! It was such an amazing site!
Had a lovely dinner in our new lodge, Ndutu Safari Lodge. They even have a family of Genet Cats living here! Wow, that was amazing to watch during our meal!

Day 4.
Oh, this place is just so awesome. Just took a swim in the gorgeous infinity pool and enjoyed happy hour with wine and snacks by the pool before going back to my personal balcony for sunset. Dinner tonight was on their deck, under an amazing star-filled sky.
So, today, we explored the Serengeti and the many animals within. We saw a beautiful cheetah, a leopard walking, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, several lion including a couple of prides, and one lioness in a tree with others sleeping below, troops of baboons and a lone baboon sitting in a tree. We also saw the most adorable dwarf mongooses!
It was another great day!

Day 3.
We left the lovely Maramboi Tented Camp this morning for the equally lovely Kubu Kubu in Serengeti National Park.
Stopped for some local souvenir shopping and a picnic lunch on our way to the Serengeti. Once inside the park we saw some great wildlife. We saw more giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, elephants, hippos, male ostriches and sleeping lionesses on tree stumps.
After checking in to our fabulous room, I just had to take a shower in the also fabulous stone outdoor shower. It was glorious. I must admit, I took another shower after dinner because I just can’t resist an outdoor shower – hot water under a star-filled sky – so wonderful.
So, before dinner, we enjoyed tea and the yummy cookies left for us in a jar in our room, while watching the sunset on our balcony and listening to the sounds of lions in the distance. Dinner was in the lovely dining room and we enjoyed wine again on the balcony after dinner. I ever saw a Genet Cat run past our balcony. Genet Cats are actually not cats even though they closely resemble them!

Day 2.
Such a great day today! Enjoyed an early morning cup of tea on my balcony watching zebra and wildebeest (after falling asleep to the sounds of wildebeest last night!) and then had breakfast watching zebra as well. I can’t imagine ever getting tired of this!
We had a full-day game drive in Tarangire National Park today. It was wonderful! The highlight was watching a leopard in a tree and then seeing a pride of lions with a few (teenage) cubs. We also saw Vervet monkeys, waterbucks, dozens of giraffes (called Towers), so many herds of elephants, tiny deer called Dik Diks and more mongoose. Wonderful!
After the safari we took a walk to Lake Manyara with a local Masai warrior. He was very sweet and informative. On our walk back to the lodge, we saw a couple of jackals. Very cool.
We then took a refreshing swim in the infinity pool with a view of zebra and wildebeest and then enjoyed sunset happy hour again and enjoyed another great dinner under the stars.

Day 1.
I just have to start by saying, I can not believe there is a baby zebra sleeping in front of my balcony, surrounded by dozens of other zebra and dozens and dozens of wildebeest. This is incredible and it’s only my first day!
When we first arrived, we took a short walk as the sun was setting and saw mongoose! Their behavior is a lot like meerkats so I looked it up and learned that meerkats are in the mongoose family so I can say, I kinda, sorta, saw meerkats! 😊 They are super cute, standing on their hind legs as lookouts!
So, after our sunset stroll, we went over to the lovely infinity pool overlooking Lake Manyara (in the distance) and finished watching the sun go down with a glass of wine and some snacks. We then enjoyed dinner under the stars on the huge restaurant patio lit up with colorful lighting.
