One thing about Obsession (2026) that I enjoyed was that it almost asks you to feel empathy for the entity possessing Nikki as well as the real one. Like, obviously the things she's doing are horrific and fucked up, but I think the scene where Bear is asking her to "just be Nikki!" and she eventually just desperatly screams "I can't be Nikki!" does a really good job of showcasing the entity's inner feelings. She's been created with the sole purpose of loving this guy more than anyone else but no matter how perfect it is or how much he claims to love her, its not her that he loves, its Nikki. And any time she stops pretending to be Nikki, he reacts (albeit rightfully) with disgust and horror. She can't be Nikki because Nikki would never love Bear, and so Bear will never love her.

I used to use Google docs, but the white mode only was really annoying me (tires my eyes), so I swapped to Ellipsus (which I genuinely love and recommend), but it was bothering me a bit that I need wifi in order to use it, so now I switched to LibreOffice Writer, which I do like.
It very much has a Microsoft Word feel, but is open source and you need no accounts to use it. It's local on your device, so no AI can scan it, and no wifi is needed.
I still wish it had the Google Docs cards, because, bitch, that thing is so good for easy organizing.
Been writing my LADS fic to try and keep some piece while the Fandom is on fire and got thinking about the boys and pet names. Partially me tryjng to justify my own choices, lmao. Also not including like Miss Hunter in this because all the guys use it to mostly get around saying the players name. Tried to make this inclusive for non-femme/women MC's but I know I tend to default to a female MC given my own, but I hope I was able to keep from veering off too much on defaulting to it. I debated on posting this to my writing blog, but its mostly just rambly bullshit lmao

Xavier
Not much of a petname/nickname guy. Doesn't hate using them but unless its a kind of established nickname MC might have, like a shortening of their name, it just doesn't come naturally to him- especially early on. Once hes more in a relationship with MC, it happens more.
Partner- because hunting partner, probably the most natural and first one he uses
Rookie/Probie- early on, just given MC is new to the job compared to his old ass, he means it in a way that's supposed to sound casual and playful, but it doesn't actually quite land like that
Bunny- he's the more bunny coded one, so honestly MC is probably calling him this more, but he catches himself doing it too
Star/Starlight- loves the star theming, sprinkles it in occasionally, once tried to use Starling until he remembered it's a bird.
Foxy- one time following the bunny boy and fox MC bit, immediately regretted it, did not workshop it enough before launch, failed peer review, please forget he said that.
Your Majesty/Your Highness- said usually while he's teasing or being a brat, but also if he lingers on it too long he'll start to feel some type of way.
Knight In Shining Armor- not really a pet name, but I think he said it once when MC saved him and MC didn't quite understand why he got so quiet and kept looking at them like a sad dog after.
My Dear/My Darling/My Lady- When he's trying to be a bit sweet.
Mine- Xavier's possessive ass is absolutely a "mine" guy, you cannot convince me otherwise.
Rafayel
Loves a nickname or pet name, uses them early on and fairly casually for the most part. Also, he's kind of chronically online (affectionate) which has definitely affected some of his language.
Cutie- default, comes standard with the Raf main package, may call MC this more than their actual name.
Bodyguard/Miss Bodyguard/Mr Bodyguard- We try to be queer inclusive in this bitch, but yeah this is also standard with the Raf package. Pulls this out when he's asking MC to come to events with him and really hamming up the "I'm definitely a weak artist who needs protection, ignore the fire" angle.
Girl/Dude/Bruh/Chat- I'm lumping these together as mostly being because he's chronically online, especially the last two, definitely uses them all gender neutrally. Kind of guy to send MC a soliloquy of prose and if they take two seconds too long to respond send a "Bruh..." or "Chat, are we cooked?" And because I've seen this debated, 'chat' is absolutely in reference to live streams, not ChatGPT, as an artist and ecoterrorist- Raf would fuckin' never.
Master- Look, MC put their kink on the table on that first Ebb day, Really said, "hey I noticed your in heat, have you ever had a slave/master fetish, well you do now fish boy!" And Raf decided he could work with that, pretends to pout and not always like it, but is absolutely saying it expressly because he knows it gets MC worked up.
Silly Girl/Silly Boy/Pretty Girl/Pretty Boy/Good Girl/ Good Boy- Basically, "adjective" girl/boy depending on MC's preference. Usually done when he's teasing and bringing out a touch of playful condescension, sometimes once he's like done playing submissive and he's ready to flip the script.
Beloved Bride/Groom- Again, inclusive in this bitch, definitely one of the ones that he probably springs on MC a bit too quickish, pulls back on it, then goes full force at it again. Always looks a little distant after he says it.
My Bonded- Raf isn't about to say mate, this isn't A/B/O porn, something he definitely doesn't know about. MC is his bonded, not his mate, these are very different things, trust him.
Wifey/Hubby- Can be a little cringey, but like- it's Raf. Obviously, marriage, the bride/groom, thing is very big in his lore and myth, so once him and MC reach a point where yeah he can casually and cloyingly call them wifey/hubby, he's doing it. Bonus points if it bugs MC, he's doing it harder.
Zayne
This isn't Zayne's area of expertise, he's- he's struggling. It's not that he doesn't want to like use cute pet names and be sweet, but it just feels outside of his orbit. He's kind of the Bob's Burger bit of like "My sweet.... angel....dust- wait no, that's a drug."
Dear Patient/Favorite Patient- Early on, every now and again when MC is insisting on calling him Dr. Zayne/Dr. Li. It's both a bit teasing and also somewhat him trying to remind himself why having feelings for MC is a capital B Bad Idea.
Favorite Kitty- A back and forth bit between him and MC after their kitty cards hang out. MC I think probably uses it more given who Zayne is as a person, but it does use it occasionally to joke around.
Snowflake- He was trying, happened once, immediately felt like a right wing grifter calling MC too sensitive, muttered "I hated that" to himself after.
Various Medication Names- A joke after MC teases him for naming Clopidogrel, telling him that might be his idea of pet names. So, for a while he just will randomly call MC a medication name and smile to himself as they furiously google to see if he's named them an anti-depressant or a blood thinner that day. Doesn't run it into the ground too much, but he occasionally brings it back out when he's feeling silly.
My Love/My Beloved- This is when he's feeling very soft and really wants to break out the sweet words, it doesn't happen often, but he'll drop it on MC in those very fluffy moments and just make them melt.
Good Girl/Boy- Also sometimes does the "adjective girl/boy" to condescend thing, but it is specifically usually very sexual with Zayne if he's breaking it out. He's going full brat tamer.
Brat- Again, brat tamer~ If he's calling MC this, chances are his dick is hard.
Sylus
This man also loves a pet name, not as over the top of as Raf or Caleb, but it is very natural to him and second nature. Doesn't have a lot, but uses them very frequently. Also, that fun sexy condescending thing I keep talking about, Sylus loves that shit.
Kitten- This is in the default standard package for Sylus mains, MC is kitten, such is life. This man talks like a discord mod and we all have to endure it. Again, with the smirk, that bit of condescension. Ugh.
Sweetie- Also part of the standard package, says it with that bit of condescension and patronization.
Kid- Look, is this a mix of him being used for Casablanca and my personal fixation on "older" men calling their younger partners 'kid?' Plus, the small amount of age fuckery done in the Catch 22. Maybe... no actually, it absolutely is. I will not apologize, it's condescending, its hot, its Sylus.
Boss Lady/Big Boss- Stealing a little off the twin's bit, especially when MC calls him Boss Man, it lets him assert that they're equals/MC is also the boss around here. It's both his way of teasing because he knows it irks MC, but also it feels like an extension of being kindred spirits.
Darling- He has a voice meant to say the word darling. I will not elaborate.
My Beloved/My Love- When he's extra soft, lovey, dovey, gently whispered against the top of MC's head when he's just feeling particularly fluffy.
Treasure- Going off of his little monologue in Shared Bliss, I think he doesn't sprinkle this one out a lot, because a small part of him is worried it's objectifying and comparing them to things he owns, but he does consider MC a treasure he wants to always have by his side- though he loves MC too much to act on owning them.
Brat/Good Girl/Good Boy- Similar to Zayne, if he's calling MC these, he's hard- difference is he's always hard and is doing this shit in public, please remove this man from the Applebees.
My Little Bird- Is this me doubling down because he said it in Catch 22 and I felt some kind of way, maybe... But also, birds are relevant to them and also... I felt some kind of way. Not a major/constant one, mostly just if he's teasing MC about trying to "fly away"
Dearest Wife/Dearest Husband- When he gets to break this out, heart is singing, first time he throws out a tester of it and MC doesn't look at him like he's grown a second head or pretends to puke- hell yeah.
Caleb
Someone get this man away from nicknames, remove them from him. Deny him his nickname rights, he does it too much, too often, too annoyingly- because that's the thing right, Caleb is not only a lovestruck obsessive freak, he's also an annoying older brother. Worst of both worlds, meimei (gender neutral). I know meimei isn't actually gender neutral but I wanna be inclusive shhhhhh
Pipsqueak/Pips- Basic part of the meimei package, your annoying brusband will be calling you this.
Squirt/Munchkin/Goober/Dummy/Twerp- The annoying older brother is annoying older brothering. he loves these sort of goofy playfully teasing sort of nicknames/petnames, these were the kind he could very casually sprinkle in pre-revealing his feelings.
Shorty/Shorstack/Shortcake/Half-pint/Thumbelina/Tinkerbell- How many ways can a big brother call you short??? He'll find every single way, he's 6'3 (trust me, not infold) and he will make sure you know it.
Sunflower- This might be me, Caleb hit me with a lot of sunflower imagery when I first unlocked him- making MC a mechanical sunflower and bringing them a sunflower balloon, so I kind of think he associates MC with sunflowers.
Baby Bird- Kind of going off the little seagull he drops in Hidden Waves (I think?). But, also going off of Captive Bird, the imagery of a bird in a gilded cage, and fear of a baby bird flying from the nest. It just works.
Baby Sister/Baby Brother/Meimei/Didi/Little Sister/Little Brother- Caleb is MC's older brother, like, it do be like that. Now, I do think once a relationship starts, a part of him might try to rollback on this occasionally- trying to redefine his role in MC's life. But, I think it's a bit inconsistent, because while he has some shame over his feelings, sometimes that shame makes him borderline suicidal, sometimes it makes him horny. He wants to be everything to MC, after all. These will be used during sex...
Honey/Babe/Baby/Sweetheart- Once its relationship time, oh fuck yeah, lets go pet names!!!!
