Previous Conclusions regarding the trolls:
- They're all friends and they like to coordinate when they troll. "we ride at dawn" kind of situation.
- They're all the same person who made it their life's goal to troll on conformitygate.
- They're all the same person and are a plant to observe fandom behaviour.
New conclusion regarding the trolls:
The accounts are run by coworkers coordinating when they troll in order to observe fandom behaviour.
They are possibly working for Netflix directly or for a company that measures, analyses and insights media that then sells it to netflix. Their job would be measuring fandom behaviour, engagement, reactions, emotional investment, etc.
Observations that led me to this new conclusion.
Princessparadoxical is Austrailian, whereas Emoticon-Indy is British. Allmyrandomfic and Holisticdorktective sometimes use american spellings possibly to throw us off or an actual American is using the account at times. This leads me to believe multiple people are sharing accounts and are given a persona/script. Hence, the same tone and lexicon between accounts.
Furthermore, any consistent arguments you see in comment sections, for example anotherjlynn's mathematical posts vs trolls is planted, I believe. They're having a bit of fun as coworkers. The plants are running many accounts (pre-existing and new), such as theory accounts, shitpost accounts and troll/anti-CG accounts.
Objective of the plants:
I still think it's to observe fandom behaviour because Netflix is DESPERATE to understand what made ST so massive with such a loyal fanbase in the first place.
They want to know when people started watching ST. Why they started watching it. Whether they watched Tales from 85. What made people watch Tales from 85. And ofcourse, how much proof/evidence do people need to take something as a fact. These are only a few, there's so much more ofcourse (I'm yet to figure out).
Remember the surveys people got at tf85 screenings?
Netflix wants to replicate the success of ST and is realising that a huge part of the success is the superfans/fandom. That's why the plants are getting into pure fandom spaces such as tumblr and discord to obtain authentic, qualitative data in realtime.
The funny thing is they probably could’ve gotten these answers through kindness and normal interaction. But in all honesty, ragebait gets faster engagement, people respond emotionally and reveal what they actually think. Not to mention it's fun for the employees. I know I've confidently reached the wrong conclusion before but cut me some slack, I was getting over the flu😭
