❛ Think we’re smart enough to sneak out for a bit and not get caught? I’m willing to risk it for a second if you are. ❜

“I'm definitely willing to risk it.”

“ – you could’ve stayed in France. You were safer there than any of us. Why did you come here?”  His tone wasn’t biting, nor accusatory. Merely curious.

“Because my pack is here.”

❛ Yes, I’m going absolutely stir crazy… I snuck out of here a few weeks ago on a personal mission of topside. But now we’re basically on America’s Most Wanted list. ❜

“They don’t even know I’m a werewolf and I’m on that list. I just... want some fresh air.”

“And useless.” 

“Tell me about it. How are we supposed to do anything when our only option up there is getting caught?”

“Honestly? Yes. I don’t know how some people have been down here for years.”

“I vote we find a bigger place Topside.”

“Then you picked the wrong side. The mess hall is probably the biggest room in here.”

I mean, I don’t really have a choice.

“ … - I guess. Better than some alternatives.”

“I don’t do very well with claustrophobic.”

“Why?”

“Think about it. Nothing ever goes the way we want it to. My brother is working for the government and I’m a known criminal. Cora is MIA. Apparently she’s back, but I haven’t seen her. Stiles used to be relatively safe, but now he’s got the handicap off and that makes him the biggest target out there, if anybody finds out. Something bad is bound to happen.”

{isaac}:

❛ What? You’re not impressed with all we’ve figured out so far? I was kind of proud of myself, thank you very much. I’m sorry that seemingly isn’t good enough for you though. ❜

“Hey, don’t get me wrong, it’s incredible- what you did. But if they ever found out what you’ve learned to do, you become number one on their target list.” It wasn’t even Isaac’s concern for Lydia that was making him nervous. There were too many things that were recipes for disaster, and Isaac wasn’t going to be unprepared.

“We’ve made progress – a lot of progress in a very short time. We should look to that for a while for hope. Otherwise, we’re always waiting for the other shoe to drop.”

“...You must be new here.”

“Well good, because it’s not happening.”

Well, gee. Surprise, surprise.

“If it’s fair to say I’m moping, then I’m able to say that you are, too.”

“Then we both agree that you’re moping.”

❛ She’s a gifted lady, just not as good as the original Dracula. Bram Stoker started the craze, he defined what we know a vampire to be. Of course, it’s rumored that he saw a real one and wrote a story about it. I don’t think that’s true but I’ve also met one and been learning about them to find a way to remove their handicaps. I guess I’m just one step ahead of them both. ❜ Lydia’s laugh infected the air as the delicate tunes danced from her lips into the stage that was the world. She’d found herself gently grasping her teeth against her cheek upon hearing him, a brief shake of the head necessary afterward. ❛ Tu ferais mieux, je serai plutôt offensé si tu ne le fais pas. ❜

“Am I allowed to agree even if I haven’t read Bram Stoker’s Dracula?” While he did read a few books, he definitely wasn’t as scholarly as Lydia- who undoubtedly read any book she could get her hands on. “Are you trying to say you’re smarter than Bram Stoker?” It was another thing that Isaac wouldn’t even hesitate to doubt. Bram Stoker wrote one thing. Lydia Martin was a genius. He felt a true smile slip onto his features at hearing the familiar French words. “Ensuite, il est réglé.”

❛ Don’t get me started on that vampire thing… That was such a bore, no one wants to hear about that. Dracula was the last vampire story worth reading. ❜ A bit of a chuckled breath exited her lips for Isaac’s ears to take notice of. ❛ You went to France before me? I can’t say I’m very happy with you about that. ❜ The female nudged him gently, a smile beginning to crease her lips.

“Anne Rice did a pretty good job. But, if anyone asks, I don’t know anything about any vampires ever.” He smirked, taking a moment to think back to the years of French that he had studied while he was over seas. “La prochaine fois, je suppose que je vais devoir vous emmener avec moi.”
