that's a great question... in my mind, the swapped versions would get along well with their respective originals, russia-swapped america would get along fine with normal russia, but normal america and america-swapped russia would not get along. for normal america and america-swapped russia, i believe that their competitive, bold personalities would clash too hard, though maybe they'd end up being best buds, who knows? they would either be worst enemies or best friends (/lovers if we're talking rusame here). maybe both... russia-swapped america and normal russia would probably be happy to find a friend in each other, especially one that is familiar with the type of loneliness they've been through. they'd either be each other's only friend or just coworkers who don't like each other. i say that the swaps would get along well with their originals because they wouldn't really have a reason not to. they would both have the best interest of the same country in mind, so i don't think they would have much animosity towards each other. also iirc russia and america get along fiiineeeee in canon? right? they hangout, yeah? maybe i should do some rereading/rewatching this summer... here's some more thoughts: -- russia-swapped america = the west coast, normal america = the rest (disclaimer: i don't know much about the east coast at all. i've only gone past the rocky mountains once in my life... uhhh) -- america-swapped russia would be slightly older than canon russia and would act like an uncle. he would be bulkier and hairier. -- russia-swapped america would look younger than canon america (so like an actual 19 year old) but would act slightly older. also he would have techbro brain and would be slightly obsessed with 6-month coding bootcamps. he would also be a boba fiend while canon america would like coffee, soda, and ice cream more. i wonder how'd they get along with other countries? -- america-swapped russia would get along really well with ukraine but would probably be dismissive towards belarus. -- russia-swapped america... i think he would go through periods of liking and being neutral towards canada but i don't believe he'd be as dismissive as canon america. i could imagine him being a little clingy towards canada in the 2010s when canada was popular and treat canada like an older brother. nowadays? they wouldn't talk much. -- england would probably find russia-swapped america a little creepy and boring. i think that the reason england liked america so much in the first place was because he was energetic and a breath of fresh air in contrast to the countries from europe, so if america was more reserved, england would probably keep his distance and wouldn't tease him as much. i could also see russia-swapped america being a bit more childish, timid, and naive under british rule. but, he'd start to get a little mysterious and creepy during the revolution. probably even creepier during periods of isolationism. maybe they'd get along well and america would treat england as an older brother figure during the 60s with beatlemania and all. i could see them bonding over music. that'd be cute. -- i don't think that japan and russia-swapped america would become friends unless introduced by someone else. (perhaps they'd be online friends?) though, i think america would continue to be interested in japanese culture. also, he'd be more interested in asian cultures in general. holy essay. sorry if this is confusing. perhaps i'll write about them or draw them soon!
