so ive been meaning to do this poll for a while because my hypothesis is that seattle is the most Tumblr city, likely in the entire world. tumblr has a huge american majority userbase obviously, but just for comparison going forward, only 0.22% of the american population lives in seattle. as of this reblog, this poll is showing 4% of respondents are seattleites. given, this isnt scientific at all, because my blog just has a lot of seattle connections and seattle followers, but it's still an impressive bias

health isn't a virtue.

people still go around acting like they've done something good in order to be able bodied and healthy. that they worked for it, that it's due to their moral fibre or good upbringing or self control. they genuinely, on some level, believe that they are a good person solely based on the strength of their physical abilities. they will resist the fact that it is largely down to chance that they were able to maintain such health. whatever they think they've built from scratch, the building blocks were already handed to them. not because they're more worthy of it, just by luck. and they really think they're worth more based on that sheer luck. i've met disabled people worth a hundred of the healthiest ableds alive.

sis (gender neutral or something i promise) will literally say "oh i use the shortening of brother as a gender neutral term"/"oh i use the the literal term for the male gender as a gender neutral term"/"oh i use the term which means a basic man gender neutrally"/etc. and then not believe in the patriarchy.

idk how to tell people this but putting "i dont give money to donation posts" in your bio is like walking around town wearing a t-shirt saying "i dont give money to homeless people" like did you know you dont actually have to announce that, and when you do, it makes everybody around you think you are a tool, because, again, if you dont have any money to spare (and, yknow, i bet you are still privileged enough to have more than whoever is begging?) then you dont need to announce it to world at large.

honestly it's even more egregious than the t-shirt example because online you literally don't even need to tell somebody you've seen their post or read their message or whatever. nobody is pointing a gun at you and saying "youre a bad person if you dont preemptively reject mutual aid requests" so, y'know, to me it reads a lot more like "i don't want to feel bad having to see a Poor Person experiencing Poverty in my periphery"

Being clocky when i was working as a barista was one of my big joys. Being clocky when i was teaching high schoolers how to play the marimba was my reason for being for half a decade. It sucks how scared I am to leave the house I live in now. But I still need to try and be clocky at the grocery store. I wish i had a job to be clocky at. Being visibly me is one of the most radical acts I'm capable of, and I hope that one day we live in a world where it isn't radical at all.

people take "drug seeking is a nonsense framework" to mean that like, no one ever lies to get drugs in medical contexts which is just categorically untrue but the question they don't bother to ask themselves is "why do people feel the need to lie to get drugs?" which leads into the further question of "why would someone abuse stimulants/opioids/etc" which is like. i feel like kinda the major question one should ask no. why do people do drugs. what reasons might someone have to lie. why do we exist in a system in which people feel the only way to make decisions with their own body is to lie to medical professionals.

drug seeking is a nonsense framework not because people don't ever lie to get drugs for recreational use or whatever but because people shouldn't have to go through medical hoops to get drugs period. regardless of if for recreational use or otherwise.
