First, it reminded me ofĀ āEnderās Game.āĀ Itās doesnāt compare to that though.Ā It isnāt like that.Ā Just gave me that feel when I started it and they were on this ship.Ā But, thatās just me.
This book is extremely predictable.Ā Thatās why I only gave it 3 stars.Ā It was a good read.Ā I didnāt want to lose sleep over it, but still good.Ā You just see the ending and some of the otherĀ āplot twistsā coming from a mile away.
The characters were justĀ āmeh.āĀ I did love Amy and Harley though.Ā They were my favorites.Ā Eldest is the definition of asshole.Ā Elder is a whiny kid.Ā Everyone else...well, they are basically just background noise.
Overall, not bad, but not mind blowing.Ā

Amy and her parents, and 97 other people, are being frozen to travel for 301 years to a new planet.Ā That planet is where they will basically start over Earth.
Fast forward to present day on the ship.Ā There are just a little less than 50 years left on the ship.Ā The shipās leader, Eldest, is training the next leader, Elder.Ā Elder doesnāt feel as though he is getting the training he deserves.Ā So, he tries to learn more on his own and stumbles onto something bigger than he can imagine.
Elder finds the frozen humans.Ā They look nothing like everyone else on the ship.Ā The one girl in particular that he is fascinated with is pale with red hair.Ā He canāt get the thought of her out of his head.
Amy is unfrozen and left to die.Ā Nobody can figure out who did it or why.Ā Then another, and then two more.Ā Someone is unfreezing everyone and leaving them to die.Ā Amy was the lucky one.Ā Itās up to Amy and Elder to figure out who is killing the frozen people since everyone is against them.

āTwelve Slays of Christmasā byĀ Jacqueline Frost

First book of 2019!Ā First Christmas cozy mystery ever!Ā It was great!Ā I had forgotten how much and why I loved cozy mysteries.Ā This one definitely reminded me.Ā This is the first in theĀ āChristmas Tree Farm Mysteryā series.Ā I canāt wait to read the next one.Ā The characters were wonderful!Ā Cookie and Cindy Lou Who, the cat, were my favorites!Ā The main character, Holly, is also wonderful.Ā Sheās not annoying like some main characters can be.Ā Sometimes I feel like Iāve just had enough of the main character.Ā But, not Holly.Ā Sheās not helpless, but not too independent either.Ā Thatās usually my problem.Ā I feel like people try to make their characters fit into a certain place.Ā Like, making someone too much aĀ ādamsel in distressā orĀ ābad ass.āĀ I like characters that are independent but know when they need help and canāt do things alone.Ā I felt that I got that from Holly.Ā She likes to do her own thing, but knew when she needed the support from her parents and everyone else.

Holly just moved back home after her soon-to-be husband calls off the right around the corner, Christmas Eve wedding.Ā But, itās just in time for her to make it home for the Reindeer Games at her parents tree farm.Ā Unfortunately, a very uptight member of the historical society is pissing off everyone in town.Ā So, what does one town person do?Ā Kills her.Ā Holly just so happens to be the one to hear her scream and finds her dead at her parents farm.
Now, there is an investigation to find out who did it.Ā Since the body was found on her parentās farm, the farm canāt open for the Reindeer Games just yet.Ā Not until they can rule out anyone working at the farm.Ā But, instead of leaving it all in the handsome Sheriff's hands, Holly wants to take matters into her own hands so the farm can reopen.Ā When the murderer finds out that she is asking questions about the murder, they leave her a warning on her front porch at her parentās guesthouse.
She TRIES to take the warning to heart and stay out of it, but she canāt.Ā She really wants to help her parents.Ā She knows the money from the Reindeer Games is how they are able to make it through the year until the next Reindeer Games.Ā Once she starts asking questions again, she gets a new warning.Ā This time the murderer leaves the message in her house while she is sleeping.
Thatās why she has had enough and decides itās time to move out of the guesthouse and into her parentās house.Ā Better to not be alone right now.Ā But,Ā Iām not going to tell you how it ends.Ā Youāll just have to go read it and find out for yourself!
So, 2018 was not a good year for books and I.Ā I quit my job at 2nd and Charles after 7 years with the company.Ā Working with books for so long honestly killed my love for reading.Ā But, now that Iāve been gone for almost a year, I feel that love returning.Ā I just finished my first book for the new year.Ā It was a Christmas cozy mystery.Ā Probably wouldāve been perfect to end last year with it.Ā But, HEY!Ā Better late than never.Ā Right?Ā Hereās to reading more in 2019!
This is the first audio book I have ever listened to and oh my god. The narrator was absolutely amazing. I am so excited to start the rest of the series. Story wise, it was great. With this genre of book, some things are usually very predictable. But, I was pleasantly surprised with the way things happened. It was different and not what I expected.
I ended up reading this because it was one of theĀ ābook of the monthā for a group I am a part of on Goodreads. Itās one that I have always been meaning to read because a good friend has recommended it to me. My mother has also read, and loved, the whole series. I can see why now. The writing was wonderful. The characters were fabulous. OH MY GOD! Jenks is the absolute best! I would love a book with him as the main character. I may actually love him more because of the audio book though. The voice the narrator used in the audio book was just perfect. UGHHH! I need more Jenks! I swear I donāt have a problem....
Also! One of my friends has completely ruined something that is going to happen in the series. I SWEAR that I wonāt tell you what that is until I get to it. Itās huge. But, itās great. Still...drives me insane that he ruined it for me.
Anyway, this is definitely worth reading. I canāt get over how good it was.

So, Rachel is a runner. She works to collect people, supernaturals, and turn them in. Itās kind of like a bounty hunter. But, she is tired of working for the I.S. So, she decides itās time for her to leave and start her own running business. Which is exactly what she does with a little help from Jenks the pixy and Ivy the vampire.Ā
If you leave the I.S., they will put out a contract to have you killed. Told you, they are just bounty hunters. Anyway, so Rachel now has a contract out on her. Because of that, there are people constantly trying to kill her. They have even spelled all of the stuff in her apartment. Now, she has to go live with Ivy at an old church. Yeah, itās weird a vampire is living in a church.
There is something called Brimstone. Itās like a drug. There are also Biodrugs. Itās weird. Just read the book to understand. Anyway, someone is making and distributing biodrugs. Turns out, itās someone who is a well known business man. So, Rachel goes after him.
When she tries to get a hold of some evidence, she is caught. She is then locked up in a cage until the business man decides to try to have her killed. Iām trying to not give away EVERYTHING.
Anyway, so in the end, the F.I.B. decide to listen to Rachel. Because of that, they realize who is distributing the biodrugs. Unfortunately, the evidence they had on him was destroyed. Which means, itās time for Rachel to start over.
I love Anna Kendrick. I just needed to get that out there. I think she is amazing. She is beautiful, hilarious, talented and more. So, when I saw that she had written a biography, I had to read it. This is also the first autobiography that I think I have ever read. It definitely did not take as long as I thought it would. I was afraid that I would be bored while reading a autobiography. Iām glad I started with Anna Kendrick.
I loved seeing her humor in the book. Her humor is one of my favorite things about her. I am so excited about Pitch Perfect 3 coming out soon. OH! I had completely forgot she was in Twilight. I can hear you now.Ā āHow could you forget Twilight?!ā Because I donāt really give a damn about Twilight. Yes, Iāve seen it. But, I donāt really care for it.
There is a small part of the book where she talks about being on the set ofĀ āMike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.ā Itās more about talking about Zac Efron. But, THATāS OKAY! If youāre not okay with that, then....I donāt know who you are anymore.Ā
There is a chapter that really got to me. It is the next to last chapter, I believe. It just really hit home for my anxiety problems. Overall, just read it. Itās a great read. It is also a pretty quick read. Check it out!

First of all, she starts by telling you a little about her time on Broadway. She tells you about her auditions as a child and having to travel from Maine to New York. She also had to move to Yonkers with her father so she could perform on Broadway while her mother and brother stayed in Maine.
She then takes you through moving back to Maine and going to school there. Later she moves to LA on her own. She just packs up and moves. She was basically winging it in LA. She explains the stress of never knowing if you are going to get a part in a movie or not. So, you never know if you are going to have money. Everything is a gamble.
She then goes into her times at award shows. She briefly talks about her performance with Neil Patrick Harris. I canāt remember if that was the Oscars or Academy Awards. There is even some parts about what it is like for people behind the scenes at the award shows. Did you know it can be a little awkward?
The chapter that got to me the most was towards the end. She goes on about what seems like daily anxiety. I deal with anxiety and depression every day. This chapter was actually a positive outlook for my day. Life gets hard. It can get really difficult. It is extremely stressful for everyone. Some can handle it better than others. I am not one of those people. I can put on a smile and pretend everything is okay, just like she can. But, in the end, we are all screaming for an adult. The best way she described it was being a man-child. It makes total sense.
