Having so many thoughts during this Buffy rewatch but one that occurred to me recently is how Innocence and Touched are companion pieces.

To be innocent is to be untouched.

To be touched is to be intimate, emotionally or physically.

Therefore, intimacy always exists apart from innocence.

In our often puritanical culture, to be anything less than innocent is to be bad, to be dirty.

Spike says to Buffy, “I may be dirt, but you’re the one that likes to roll in it.”

Ironically and also fittingly, this show’s most toxic portrayal of sex is also its healthiest and most liberating and authentic one.

Because Spuffy is a healing journey.

there's something so fascinating about how the buffy writers said that the idea of buffy and spike together was unthinkable to them in the early seasons and yet you have moments like this

let's not forget about how this scene is supposed to be this confession to her "big" love interest (in which buffy does not pass the opportunity to mention how spike is the only one who can see right through her)

it’s so funny that people genuinely think angel getting cursed with a soul is his redemption. in what world is redemption achieved when a character doesn’t CHOOSE to be better. angel getting his soul thrust upon him is not something he chose because he felt remorseful, it’s a punishment from his victims. and afterward, angel is more focused on how painful it is to have a soul than on his actual crimes.
