"i looked out of a window." "just like me." .. *toudou
Freedom was a concept once unknown to Sei. Seeing the bright blue skies and a clean, natural air were all but inattainable pipe dreams for much of his life. A constant reminder in the form of neurological experiments served their repetitious purpose in reminding him that he was always going to be a tool. A tool to further Toue’s goals— his nondescript path of psychological and political conquest. To say that Sei had come to accept such a fate would not be true at all. He had given up, yet he did not wish to succumb to such a fate his entire life, especially when he had become so 「weak」 because of it… He had thought… with Aoba’s power…
He would eventually be 「free」.
Was he… 「free」…? Is he? Where is he? Heaven? Hell? Where? Where, where, where?
A wandering soul in the hallways, unknowingly his feet guiding him to one of the various exits into the courtyard, his mind convinced that such a facility-like establishment would dare not allow its patients to leave freely. Not without some sort of escort, anyways. Interrupting his thoughts, however, was a blinding light accompanying the swing of a door. A bright light envelops an individual. Bright. 「Bright」…!
His vision strained, Sei shields his eyes and steps backwards, away from the doorway. Sunlight— true sunlight— was a foreign concept. A foreign sight. His eyes could not adjust in time. A figure enveloped in rapturous sunlight… a thought came to mind, spilling softly from paled lips.
❝ A… God…? ❞
Freedom? Not an uncommon concept to Toudou.
Clear blue skies, beautiful fresh air; these were things he experienced daily. He was even more fortunate than just being allowed the privilege to go outside; no, he also got to ride his bicycle and enjoy one of the most exhilarating means of human transportation and competitive sport possible: road racing. Toudou had frequently seen things that, unbeknownst to him, were things most people in this place would never ever know. He had felt the wind blanketed in the height of a hot summer, the rush of victory at the top of a climb... he had felt alive, as Angel Wings often said of racing and biking.
Ah, but he wasn't always so humble. Rarely, in fact, he was. And now most of all, surroudned by strangers he only hoped to impress, he wouldn't even realize the privilege he had over others. The fact that others were not as lucky as he, something he would only consciously recognize in the most selfish context. Selfish and arrogant, a man of individual, actualized vanity -- this was Toudou in a nutshell. And for those who did not know deep inside where a much more compassionate and thoughtful man resided, this is all they would know of him.
Toudou, the God, just as this unsuspecting bystander thought. Hehe.
He had heard it, too -- from a surprisingly soft voice -- which only allowed his ego to skyrocket. A God, huh? Well well well! It seemed he didn't have to prove much to this one! Finally, the people of this place were simply gettin' with it. How nice and easy for him, really. He beamed and it showed in the way he carried himself through the corridor and flipped his hair. Seriously, where were all the sparkles coming from?
"Yes, a God sent to bless the people of this earth with his presence... ...." He said, his tone like warm bell's chime. So sickly sweet, as usual. "... ...Ah?" But even in the midst of his reigning glory, the God was momentarily distracted at the other's appearance. Pale and frail... dreadful, really. He thought briefly of his close friend Makishima, who had a similar thin stature, similarly white skin... but even then, he was not so... sickly. Hm.
What caught his attention most, however, was his dark hair. In a way, it resembled his own... it was not as shiny or as silky or as BEAUTIFUL, of course -- for that was not simply adopted loveliness -- but even then, there was just... something about it. The length, the style... why, yes. Yes. Toudou could do something about this.
"... ...Have you ever considered wearing a headband?" A small chuckle of pride, "My trademark accessory, of course... but I would be willing to lend you one as long as you wear it just as I say to~."
He certainly felt charitable today. With enough work, this boy would make a fine protégé!
