I told you to kill him!
The pain doesn’t stop, it worsens like the grip of a hand, snaking up to your neck. It doesn’t hurt enough to cut off his air supply, but it does hurt.
But….. Fine.
The pressure loosens, moves away from his throat.
You get another chance. Kill him, make him unable to defeat me.
Find a way past the heroes, and kill him.
[He lets go of his hand to respond, and the pain instantly seems worse. He inhales shakily, drawing up the courage- ha- to speak through the pain.]
I WILL. I swear by you I-I will-
[The agony crawls up his neck, cutting him off and causing him to gasp, halting his breathing on his own in anticipation. When nothing happens, he inhales desperately, his breathing coming in too quick, too hard. He sits there for a moment, collecting himself enough to speak again.]
Thank you- master. I won't fail you a second time, I promise.
[When he's sure Demise is gone, He sits up slowly, breathing in and out carefully and trying to calm his beating heart. His hands shake as he rests a hand on his chest, leaning over and clenching his shirt in a fist.]
[Angry tears slip out of his eyes, and he's too tired to blink them back. Make Birdie unable to defeat him? Hasn't that happened already?? Hasn't that kid lost enough? If the current hero of the sky beat Demise and was left with... that mark, then isn't Birdie being in any lesser state than Sky was considered a win?]
...
[Does he really need to kill Birdie? Is there no other option? He can't go back to the heroes for help after this- he can't. If Demise is watching, it'll be a death sentence.]
[He doesn't want to be here anymore. He misses the sky. He misses when everything was so simple and easy and filled with joy...]
Something creeps up your arm, under your skin, a pain so deep inside it seems engrained in your body, your entire being...
You failed.
The pain creeps further along, higher, worse. He's not putting in much effort, but your pain tolerance is low.
I told you to kill the boy...
You failed.
The pain, the pressure, increases. Slowly, but more and more. Like someone is grabbing your arm, your body, hard enough to bruise, to break. But he doesn't.
[His breath hitches as he notices the sensation building in his arm. He knows that kind of pain. That presence. He should've known there'd be consequences for disobeying him. He should've known those heroes wouldn't be able to keep him safe. not from him.]
[A small sob escapes his throat as the pain builds up, searing through his arm and slowly spreading through his body. He stumbles back against a tree and sits down heavily, holding his arm tightly.]
[He curls up at the sound of that voice. Dammit, dammit, dammit- He shouldn't have tried to do the right thing. Shouldn't have spared that sweet kid if it meant this'd all be over already. He inhales shakily as the pain ramps up, spreading through his body, reaching into the very core of his soul and dousing it in flames.]
[He hates pain. Hates the way it makes him hyperaware of his body, the way it fills his mind so completely and renders him unable to think. He needs to satiate Demise. Needs to get him to stop or he'll break under his master's hands.]
I know. I'm not making any excuses, my lord, but- please. Give me a little more time. He has multiple heroes on his side. I-I need to proceed delicately.
[His voice is small and wavering, wracked with pain, getting more and more strained as the pain intensifies. Anything, anything to get a little more time.]
[He's gripping his arm hard enough to leave a dark bruise at this point. The pressure is too much to handle. With a strangled cry, he lets go of his arm and bites his hand instead, breaking through the skin in the process. It helps a little. It's easier to channel the pain into bite pressure. But sweet Hylia this needs to END already-]
*Birdie walks alone through the forest, Goddess Sword hanging off h8is back. It looks fine, but something feels off in a way that even Breeze can tell. His outfit is torn, covered in dried blood. His left hand is missing, along with about half his forearm. His expression is completely blank.
*Oddly, when his eyes land on Breeze, he...
*Doesn't seem to care..? He doesn't nod or say hi, true, but he isn't afraid, either. His expression doesn't even change.
@knight-in-training-sky
[He's mildly surprised to have come across Birdie out here, instinctively bracing for a confrontation of some sort. He winces when he notices Birdie's clothes and hand- or- lack of a hand.. Just what happens in the time since he last saw him?]
[He tilts his head at him at the lack of a reaction, lifting his hand and waving awkwardly.] Hey-? Are you hurt?
[He internally cringes at that. Of course he's hurt. Or- was hurt. Just look at him! If it is him. This isn't an imposter, right? What's with the blankness?]
...it is you, right? The little sky hero?
*Birdie looks over, giving a smple nod to the question. That's him.
I'm fine.
*He doesn't seem interested in small talk, but as he looks around, he seems to decide on something.
Do you know how to get back to Faron? I'm lost.
*What- Why doesn't he care? Why isn't he afraid like he was last time?
[He... he's not sure what to make of this situation. Clearly something is wrong, but he doesn't know how to handle this. Last time he saw the kid, he nearly had a panic attack. Now he's just all.. strange.]
..Are you- are you sure? You don't seem fine. Not normal at least.
I do know the way to Faron.. but I want to make sure you're really alright first. I feel like I should call Sky. Does he know- whatever happened?
I’m fine.
*He simply repeats himself, his blank expression not changing.
Yes, Sky knows. So does Ethos.
*The Goddess Sword on his back chimes faintly, weakly. Birdie glances at her, but doesn’t do anything with her.
[He narrows his eyes at him, getting less hesitant about this whole thing and more... irritated. Weirded out. Because isn't this weird??]
Why... what'd you do?
[It's also unusual for him to ignore Fi...]
I realized you were right. I’m a disgrace. So I decided to get that fixed.
*Breeze had told Birdie that back when the spirit-turned-Skyloftian took his voice away…..
*It’s both surprising and not to hear it had that big of an impact on the teenage hero.
[He feels a pang in his chest at that. That'd just been him taking his frustration out on Birdie. Trying to wear him down without actually killing him. He never meant for it to turn out like this..]
[He wonders if Sky and Ethos would be upset with him over this.]
[He takes a step forward, reaching out for Birdie then pulling back, not wanting to invade his space.]
Hey.. I'm- sorry about that. I was just- you're not a disgrace. I didn't even believe that as I was saying it! You don't need to... FIX yourself. Not at all.
*Birdie doesn’t move in response to Breeze’s step.
Yes I am. I lost so much that no other version of Sky did. Clearly something is wrong with me.
I’ve been wondering. Why try to kill me? Specifically?
*Hylia, the blank look on his face is unsettling, with a face made to smile as much as he usually does.
*Fi chimes again, more insistently. Like she’s trying to call out to Breeze specifically. Birdie doesn’t even turn his head toward her, just looking in her direction with his eyes.
You only lost more the situation was different. The other Skys never had to go through this whole- merge of different links and others. This situation is significantly more dangerous than it should've been. Yet you're still making it through, aren't you?
[He flinches at the question, stumbling back a bit and staring at the floor. When he speaks, it's clear and quick, Like a rehearsed speech. As if he's trying to get this done with as quick as possible.]
I... I came from a time before Demise was sealed. When this whole thing happened, He heard that he'd be defeated. He wanted to create a timeline where at least one version of him would win. So he stole me and sent me to kill a version of Link who hadn't gone through with his quest yet. So Ghirahim could succeed in bringing him back.
But- I never wanted to kill you. I promise.
[He takes a deep, quiet breath at the end, awaiting your judgement. He glances up at Fi as she chimes, but doesn't make a move. She's not his to wield, after all...]
*Birdie says nothing, watching Breeze. He sticks his leg out into the man’s line of sight when he looks down, to get him to look up so Birdie can sign to him.
Demise is an asshole. I can’t tell you how I’d react to seeing you normally, but right now I can understand that I don’t think you had a choice in this, did you? I don’t think it’s right to say I forgive you when I can’t feel anything to know if it’s true, so I’m not going to.
*He tilts his head a bit.
But I can see you didn’t want to.
[He can hardly bear to look at Birdie right now, after telling him everything. It is the only way he can communicate though, so he reluctantly keeps his eyes on the young hero's hands.]
I don't- expect you to forgive me. Its more than enough already that you were willing to hear me out. I.. I appreciate you understanding though, even if I don't really deserve that from you.
[His eyes flicker to Fi for a moment, almost curiously. It seemed like she wanted to say something earlier..]

[She got bored of (Green) Legend's house pretty quickly, so she's exploring outside again. She'll go back to the house before he knows she left. Or whatever.]
[She inconsistently switches from flying and walking. Sometimes she likes to see the ground.]
- @therealkheel
[He spots her on the ground as he's walking through the forest, trying not to gawk at her odd form and colors. He's never seen anything like her before. Is she a humanoid loftwing..? Some kind of new bird? She seems to be acting sentient enough though..]
[He keeps a bit of distance, but waves to her from his spot across from her.] Hello..?
[Her gaze snapes up to Breeze. Oh, she hadn't noticed him at all before now! ...she needs to get better at spacial awareness.]
Hello there?
[She seems wary of you. ...And young. She's very young.]
[Now that he knows she's a sentient being, he relaxes a bit. It's just a child. A... strange looking child, but a child nonetheless.]
[He approaches carefully, trying not to hypothetically startle her, and crouches down to her level. He's never interacted with a proper child before... Gentle, right? Gotta be gentle with them.]
Hey.. Are you lost? Why're you out here on your own?
Oh, I'm exploring! I'm not lost at all!
Besides, I can fly into the sky if I'm lost.
[She seems very confident in her abilities to not be lost. Well, she lived in this forest for a few weeks, so she has a good grasp on this forest now.]
Oh- alright then, good to know.
[He wasn't sure if those wings really worked properly. Does she have hollow bones then? Interesting..]
[He squints at her slightly.]
Can I ask- what species you are? I've never seen someone like you before.
I'm a Rito! My mama said that most people also call us bird people, which works too!
[She's so chipper. So young. And kind.]
[She seems sweet.. He wonders faintly if she'll let him touch her feathers. They seem soft. Birds are so interesting..]
Mm alright. Must be from a future timeline then? Where is your mama? You seem a bit young to be out here, even if you know where you're going. I could've been someone out to hurt you.
I don't know where mama is.
[She remembers watching mama desperately shove her into a cave. Watching mama get swept away by the horrible blizzard. ...If Notts knew that Kheel was the last one to see mama alive, she would accuse Kheel again. ... That's fine. Kheel already hates Notts.]
But life isn't nice.... So she's probably dead.
[Kheel averts her gaze. She tries not to think about it. But every night she can't help but remember Mama and Papa and Genli and Kotts... She misses them all.]
[He puts a hand on her shoulder hesitantly. He's not all too sure what to do in a situation like this. Spirits never had negative emotions to deal with, and this isn't something he's gone through since becoming a human.]
Oh- I'm sorry to hear that then.. do you have anyone else to go back to? Any adult you can fall back on?
[He's starting to feel bad for her. Such a young child and already she's lost someone important to her. Maybe he could bring her back to Legend or Sky and see if they'll take care of her?]
[The moment he touches her, she can feel his threads. She has to suppress a gasp. They're... Dissonant. Unhappy to be what they are? Like when she turns someone to an animal. He's not supposed to be in this form.]
[Okay well turning him into an animal wouldn't be effective. Good thing she likes making people scream.]
Kinda. But he's doesn't really want to house me.
[He frowns slightly, patting her back lightly. She seems like a sweet kid.. what kind of person- or bird person- would just let her be by herself?]
Do you have your own place to go back to at least? Or you could- stay with me for a bit if you want? Someone should really be caring for you at this age.
Nope! There's a blizzard at my old home.
Besides, if I get kicked out again, the woods are s pretty nice place to sleep!
..Well, if you ever need help, you know where to find me now. Do you know a Sky or Legend? Maybe they can help you out as well?
[Her gaze suddenly darkens at the mention of Sky. And she knows a Legend. She knows two: meanie Legend and probably nice Legend. It makes sense that this person knows Sky. He looks exactly the same, and it's pissing her off.]
[She tries to keep up her innocent facade.]
You look a lot like Sky! Why is that?
[He can tell she got a little upset at that, though he doesn't know why. Not like it's really an issue.. doesn't look like she'd be as bad as Sky or Demise when angry, after all.]
[He smiles, though its a lot faker than before.]
You know how there are a lot of versions of people out there now? It's like that.
[It is most definitely not like that, but he's not going to spill his story to this little child.]
[Yeah sure, then why does this guy's threads feel wrong? But she needs to seem calm. She can't question him. Not yet.]
Oh! That's interesting! I haven't found another version of myself before! But there's two different Legends, so I guess that makes sense!
[...How can she restrain him? Or does she attack without restraints? ...but then he might get away. Hm. Well, it'll be fun no matter what she decides to do. She needs to just wait. ...just a little longer.]
[He nods, sitting down against a tree and reaching into his bag. He's getting a little hungry, might as well take care of this kid as well while he's here.]
Maybe you'll find someone like that one day, yeah? Also- are you hungry? What does your kind eat?
[He's kind of glad he had this encounter. Sure, she's a little strange, but this is his first time talking to someone new like this. It's a new experience, and he cherishes those. Maybe she'll want to travel with him for a bit? She's got no one else after all.]
[He's letting his guard down. How nice of him! Though, it's annoying he's assuming that she's some harmless kid.]
I'm not hungry right now! But I am thirsty!
[He nods, grabbing his water bottle and offering it to her. He doesn't have too many supplies right now, but he can always find a clean water source later.]
Have as much as you want then.

[She got bored of (Green) Legend's house pretty quickly, so she's exploring outside again. She'll go back to the house before he knows she left. Or whatever.]
[She inconsistently switches from flying and walking. Sometimes she likes to see the ground.]

Breeze...
*You hear footsteps besides you and turn to see me stood there.*
Sorry for the surprise. Can we talk?
@the-real-lu-sky
[He can't help but flinch slightly at the sound of your voice. He turns to face you with a slightly startled expression, hand hovering behind him to grab his shield on instinct. He quickly shakes his hand out rests it on his hip like nothing happened.]
Oh- hey, Sky. Something happen?
[He doesn't see why Sky would contact him if it wasn't something important. Did he do something wrong..? Or is it some other matter?]
You dont need to worry, its nothing major.
*I take a deep breath.*
I was... I was thinking.
We look identical. Near enough so, that... having something other than the master sword would help people identify us.
Would. Help Birdie identify us.
*I grab at my hand.* I haven't had a chance to talk to him about it yet. And... I.
Im sorry this is. Harder than I thought it would be.
Has there been any objects that youve seen that you... like?
[He relaxes slightly, feeling a bit better now that he knows nothing's gone wrong.]
Oh... you're right, that's something I need to do. He already saw me at the legends' house and thought I was you for a small moment.. I'm not sure if he told you.
It- it all went well enough though! We have an agreement. But.. It'd be best if that doesn't happen again. I don't- I'm not partial to anything in particular, and I don't really have any rupees to buy new accessories or anything. Not- that I'm asking for any.
Would a scar you don't have help?
Breeze we are not giving you a scar. Thats... no.
Ive definitely got something in here that I can use. Maybe we can make you one of these. *I pull out a large loftwing feather with beads decorated down it.*
We can find you some surface birds that you like the colour off. And we can throw one together for you.
Have you found a colour you like? Ive got loads of feathers in here.
*I sit down, pulling out feathers of various colours.*
Ive got, green, yellow, purple and blue by the looks of it?
[his cheeks redden, embarrassing about misreading the tone of the conversation.]
..ah. nevermind then.
[his eyes widen when Sky pulls out the feather ornament. He loves it, it's clear to see. He sits down across from Sky, carefully touching the feathers in wonder.]
[he glances up at Sky as if for permission to ask.]
I really like the purple one. Would that- be alright?
Sure!
*I leave the purple one where it is and place the others away. Pulling out a smaller purple one to go along side it.*
Okay. Now... you need to pick Ten of these.
*I pull out a small bag and lay it out flat. Its got beeds of all different colours ans sizes.*
You'll need to pick from these. Choose as many or as few of the colours as you like. Its completly up to you.
*I smile.*
[Again he looks up at Sky, just making sure he's not doing something wrong as he reaches for the bag. He gives him a weak smile, then opens it and takes out 10 beads with varying shades of blue on them. He seems to really like that color. He also seems to struggle not to ask for approval in his choice again, biting the inside of his cheek lightly as the urge arises and subsequently passes.]
[He tilts his head at the beads and feather. He appears.. kind of excited about this, even with how scared he is. This is his first time doing something like this.]
How do we make it though..?
*I pull the bag away, leaving you with the beads and the feather you chose.*
Making it is one thing; what it means is another.
My people make these as children, as a way to unify our bond with our loftwings. They grow alongside us, and so does this feather.
The colours you choose mean different things. It signifies things in your soul that you strive to symbolise in your life. Or it does for my people anyway.
These ones... *I point to particular beads as I list these.* means Loyalty, and responsibility. Peace and honesty.
Your feather is tied to the sky above. The beads are the grounding force that brings you back down. You need both in equal measure.
*I pull out a thread and a needle and thread it for you before handing it to you. While pulling out a feather and a few beads of my own.*
We string the beads onto this string and loop the beads through the feather so it looks like it's holding it. Then you can just tie it off at the top.
Would you like to follow along with me?
[He listens intently, staring at each bead as Sky lists them. He seems lost in thought. These virtues... He wants to live by them. He wants to make up for what he did under Demise.]
[He takes the needle carefully, turning his face away and wiping his eyes before nodding. He's touched that Sky's sharing this piece of his culture with him.]
I'd- like that. I'll follow with what you do.
[She got bored of (Green) Legend's house pretty quickly, so she's exploring outside again. She'll go back to the house before he knows she left. Or whatever.]
