There’s that metaphor about pouring from an empty cup

But what of pouring from a full cup into a sieve?

Holy fuck. I do my best to pour everything I’ve got into what I can. Lovers, friends, experiences--and when I work my hardest, I get walked on. I get stepped on. Ignored, replaced, forgotten.

Do I deserve this? Should I stop trying so hard?

The world is fucking awful, and I just want to be a light for anyone that needs it. I love hard, I work hard, I try hard, because we only have one life and I want mine to be as loving and as passionate and as meaningful as I can make it.

But when people don’t even recognize the effort, what difference would it make if I just burned out?

And who would even know if I did, anyway?

They never used my light to illuminate their path.
