1985 tv series “Frankenstein´s Aunt” (in Czech and Slovak versions known as “Teta”) was a truly multi-culti project. Written by Czech writer Jaroslav Dietl, based on a book by Swedish author Alan Rune Pettersson and directed by Slovak Juraj Jakubisko, it had an impressive cast of actors from the whole Europe. To name a few on the pictures:
1 - Viveca Lindfors as Frankenstein´s aunt Hannah (Swedish actress) and Jacques Herlin as servant Igor (French actor)
2 - Ferdy Mayne as count Dracula (German-born English actor)
3 - Bolek Polívka as Henry Frankenstein (Czech actor)
4 - Eddie Constantine as watersprite Alois (American actor with Russian roots, best known in France)
5 - Gerhard Karzel as Frankenstein´s monster called Albert (Austrian actor)
6 - Flavio Bucci as werewolf Talbot (Italian actor)
7 - Mercedes Sampietro Marro as Alžběta, the ghost of Erszebet Bathory (Spanish actress)
As a co-production between six different countries (or, in fact, seven, because Czechs and Slovaks had their separate film industries each even at the times of federation, and both were participating on it), this seven part miniseries had some flaws because of the need to satisfy all parties involved. But I remember it was fun and Jakubisko certainly showed his sense for horror atmosphere in it, even if the series was written more as a family friendly comedy/fantasy hybrid.
Later it was also edited into a film called Freckled Max and the Spooks (1987) and released theatrically in some countries.
