liking pride & prejudice IS a personality trait, ladies & it’s a good one

jane austen’s pride and prejudice (1813) has many great moments that i’d gladly make thousands of posts analyzing but i just love the “accomplished woman” scene SO much. like you could get rid of the rest of the book and be left with that scene and you would still have the thesis of the book laid out pretty nicely for you. as he lists the characteristics an accomplished woman has, darcy actually means to pay elizabeth a compliment, since he clearly holds her in high regard and would probably include her in his list of accomplished women, but she interprets it as both an insult and his ego coming through. their respective prejudice blinds one to the other’s true intent and understanding in what is essentially a summary of the book’s entire point and it’s such a big chef’s kiss from me!!! in this essay i will—

I love charles bingley so much like he literally never lets anything get to him. His emo ass best friend is like “everything sucks. I hate life” and bingleys like “im sorry u feel that way, here’s a collection of dog pictures i think u might like!” His bitch ass sister is like “everyone is ugly and terrible” and he’s like “but here’s a bunch of things i like about them!! They have nice hats!!” His wife’s wild ass family is absolutely bonkers and he’s still like “our door’s always open!! Oh its been 6 months and yall’re still here….ok!! The more the merrier!!” Like he’s really just out here loving life and dragging his depressed punk bitch pals along for the ride
