hey idk if any of you are mlm (which i don't have high hopes for because a majority of the self ship community isn't) but as a gay man your blog kind of makes me... uncomfortable? i don't believe you intend to be disrespectful but you're commonly using a term coined to describe sex between two men as though it's gender neutral and synonymous with dom. it's damaging and a little bit annoying, and even if you are all mlm, your posts still use the phrase gender neutrally.
Mod Moss here, i was the one who originally made this blog and i am mlm. I started this blog on my own as a way to post imagines away from my main selfship blog (at the time)! and eventually added some friends to mod with me (I’m unable to really keep up with the blog) i never wanted to exclude anyone and that is the reason we tend make these posts gender neutral, so that most people can enjoy them seeing that a good amount of imagines tend to be a male f/o and female s/i. none of the mods here are cisgender or heterosexual and I believe that we’re all allowed to use this term willingly seeing as we are not cishet. as a gay man i personally don’t think it is disrespectful but you are allowed your own opinions
a small addition by mod june, who is sorry for being late to the game here:Â
this blog is named the way it is because all the mods are mlm/wlw, and top/bottom terminology is totally usable for both mlm and wlw.Â
we’re using “top” in its colloquial, memetic context, although we recognize it isn’t synonymous with dom.Â
the blog itself is gender neutral for accessibility; we would rather use neutral pronouns than have separate prompts for masculine/feminine/alternate pronouns.Â
while this blog is open to anyone who doesn’t come up in our dni, including cishet allies, it was created by and for lgbt+ self shippers. however, none of our actual posts, as far as i am aware, use the terminology you’re concerned about (even our “nsfw” content tends to leave a lot to the imagination).Â
as such i don’t believe any non wlw/mlm people reblogging from us are appropriating anything either, although i’m certainly up for discussing that further if anyone feels otherwise.
