Astrological Character Analysis of: Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl

My favorite fictional character in the world is Blair Waldorf. She is officially a Scorpio! It’s in the books. :) It’s also very apparent on the show in my opinion.

Blair’s approach to life is incredibly Scorpionic. I believe she has both her sun and ascendant in Scorpio. Her ascendant shows in how beautiful and daring she is - with her clothes in the show and her hair in the books. She also draws people in, hence her “minions” and wannabee friends at Constance and later in college. Her Scorpio sun comes into play with how controlling, conniving, vengeful, and even a little neurotic she can be. She can be very cold and calculating and doesn’t easily let people in. She keeps a lot of herself hidden and does not like to be seen as weak or incapable despite having plenty of insecurities and sensitivities of her own.

However, people who are close to Blair know she tends to love extremely deeply and will stand by the side of those she loves even if they have hurt her multiple times - which Chuck does a lot on the show and Serena and Nate do even more in the books. She’s very protective and whenever she sees her friends in trouble or a bad place, tends to step in to take control and help them. She also loves the spotlight and craves attention and approval by those she feels are “important” or “respectable”. Due to this, I feel Blair possesses a Leo moon. Leo moons are very affectionate, warm, and loving, but still have that slightly selfish, “I need to be the star of the show or it’s cancelled” nature.

Blair’s Mercury is the last of her personal planets I see as being in Scorpio. She is incredibly intelligent and commandeering when she speaks. She usually communicates in the sly, cool way that Scorpio is known for, unless she’s feeling flustered or threatened in which case she can be very loud and dramatic about whatever/whoever is upsetting her due to her Leo Moon. Blair’s known for her quick wit, sarcasm, and gut wrenching insults aimed towards whoever she has in her targets. Her heavy Scorpio influence give her that knack for hitting where it hurts as she is incredibly perceptive of people and can sniff out any insecurity.

If you know anything about Blair Waldorf, you know she works very hard for everything she has despite being “born into wealth”. In the show she wanted to make a name for herself, rather than living in the shadow of Waldorf Designs or Bass industries. In the books we only see high school senior Blair, but this Blair is also extremely dedicated to getting what she wants (Yale, Yale, Yale). Because of this, I see Blair having a Capricorn Mars which would lead to her intense drive and ability to climb up any ladder put in front of her; social or professional. Blair is very intense and not incredibly likable to some people which can I feel can come from a lot of Scorpio placements influencing her basic interactions with people. She is still able to achieve what she wants with hard work and perseverance though and I find those to be very Capricornian characteristics. Blair also isn’t usually one to put on a huge show when she is angry - not immediately at least. She bottles up her temper initially with Capricorn Mars and when it does come out it’s usually in the form of revenge - very Scorpio Sun of her - or an explosion of sorts like I don’t know… shoving Serena into a fountain - very Leo Moon of her! A lot of the things that make Blair mad stem from her need for power and control (Scorpio and Capricorn influences) as well as wanting to feel important (Leo moon crying out for attention). Oh, and initially Blair is extremely hesitant about sex and wants it to be with the right person, right setting, etc… but once she begins having sexual relations it’s seen that she is very into things like role play and quite wild on the show. This is a common thing with Capricorn Mars as they tend to hold in a lot, but let loose in the bedroom. ;) I’ll say no more on that subject!

A big thing with Blair’s character, on the show and in the books, are her constant Audrey Hepburn fantasies often relating to her romantic relationships. I feel that Blair’s Venus can be found in Libra. Libra is ruled by Venus and known to be quite idealistic about love. She wants her fairytale ending which is shown by her almost obsessive need to be with Nate forever - this is especially shown in the books - as well as her occasional dalliances with men with fancy titles (Lord Marcus Beaton, Prince Louis), although we are all happy she got her real wonderful ending with Chuck - at least on the show… still mad about that aspect of the books. Blair is pretty loyal in her relationships, although she has her fair share of them as Libra Venus women are extremely attractive and sensual. Another little thing that popped out to me as very in line with this placement is Blair’s need for the finer things in life, especially when it comes to clothing and decor. Blair is quite the fashionista and trend setter and Libra - especially Libra Venus - would never be caught dead in anything tacky or gaudy. She also has a beautiful, elegant bedroom (pictured above) with a satin bedspread, a huge closet, and of course… an Audrey Hepburn photo or two hanging on the wall. A not very Libra Venus thing about Blair is her extremely uncompromising nature with romantic partners and people alike though. I feel this can definitely be attributed to her Capricorn Mars causing her to be controlling and a little power hungry and her Leo Moon making her need to be in the spotlight.
