a slightly altered timeline.  send me â timeline â and a number and i will tell you how my muse and their life would have turned out in a life slightly altered compared to their canon oneâsame universe, but where something little, or something big, went differently.
the timeline in which they live an ideal life, had no opportunities taken from them, were subjected to nothing terrible, where they grew up to fulfil their full potential.
the timeline in which they never met who would become the most influential or important person in their life, or that person was taken from them before they were capable of forming memories.
the timeline in which something important to them happened in a different stage of life.
the timeline in which they knew beforehand of something they would have prevented if given the chance.
the timeline in which they continue on from the current point in their lives to the best happy ending that is within their reach, where nothing that has happened so far is negated but from now on, the happy things start piling up.
the timeline in which everything that could go wrong from this point on⌠does.
the timeline in which they never experience the loss that taught them something important.
the timeline in which they gain everything they want, except for the thing they wanted the most.
the timeline in which they live the life they currently see the most likely for them.
the timeline in which something big to them never happened.
the timeline in which something very little happened differently, but it changed a lot.
the timeline in which they had a person in their life when they needed one the most.
the timeline in which instead of the most influential person in their life, they had a person who had the complete opposite effect on them.
the timeline in which they took a chance they didnât in canon.

otp askboys!! for kiya/timeless: 1 15 17 23 for hmmm... gladelent 5 13
sam i owe you my life and livelihood for asking about kiya/timeless, the ship only i care about with absolutely no âcanonâ interaction except in my own head because iâm a bastard who Just Thinks Theyâre Neat.
Kiya/Timeless:
1. What are things they both find funny?
it didnât use to be like this, but i think at this point kiya does find humor in the fact that she has no Fucking clue what timelessâ deal is, and timeless has always found it funny that No One knows what their deal is. also, I think they both find a great deal of humor in the antics of MFU and MFL. timeless tends to know things kiya doesnât know, and kiya tends to know things timeless doesnât know. makes for a good time!
15. What are traits they dislike in one another?
kiya doesnât actually like that timeless keeps so many secrets. she really likes Knowing things and having Information, and timelessâ whole Thing is that fucking no one knows what their deal is. they protect that jealously, and even if kiya understands that there are some things that she will not be able to know, and things that she will not be told, she still very much dislikes that she has to take âyou just donât know and no one will tell youâ as an answer.
timeless dislikes kiyaâs apparent inability to treat herself. they very much believe that when you find something or someone good, you should take it with no hesitation, and keep it as you would keep something precious. kiya will like, tell them that she doesnât know if she should have x or y because of her past and her guilt, and they will just go ???. part of this is because guilt is a bit of a foreign concept for them, but they also very much admire kiya regardless and quite dislikes that she tends to deny herself basic hedonism and indulgence.
17. What senses (sights, smells, feelings, etc). remind them of each other?
timeless is reminded of kiya with most magical things. this is partially because of their deal with her/MFU, and the fact that they do produce magical items for MFU and are usually thinking of that when looking at magical items. they also very much like chocolate for kiya-related reasons - she has a usual âcoffeeâ order that is basically hot chocolate, and she tends to have one in hand when stopping by, trying to catch timeless out of their shop somehow. they have come to associate that smell with kiya.
kiya is reminded of timeless when addressed with a certain Tone, that tends to be accompanied with a smile you can hear and a âkiyaaaaâ on an exhale. she associates the cheery ding! of a bell coming into a building with timeless. thereâs also the drape of any heavy fabric, especially velvet, like on a cloak or skirt or robe. anything heavy and clearly form-hiding. she also has a very strange positive association with the smell of ozone, because timeless tends to smell as such when he comes to the storefront from âââââthe backââââââ.
23. Write a ~300 scene between them with no dialogue, only body language.
Kiya is looking the selections of hempen versus silk rope, considering how much sheâll need to pick up for the new adventurers, who apparently havenât learned yet that tying themselves together in a dangerous part of the Underdark is never a good idea, and lost most of their adventuring kits as a consequence.
Sheâs also waiting, though she doesnât know that she will cop to that.
The employee currently behind the counter of Timelessâ Highgrasp shop looks bored, their job pretty much done when she came in, they asked her if they could help her with anything, and she had politely declined. She has the feeling that they know sheâs waiting.
She loops the hempen rope around her arms a few times and has just moved on to the pitons when she hears a barely-there whisper of thick fabric dragging along the floor and turns around.
Timelessâ prettily polished leather beak is pointed down, towards the rope that she has, admittedly, ruined the display of. They are fixing it, their gloved hands quick and deliberate. Kiya moves on, to quick-packed dry rations, and watches over her shoulder as Timeless, deliberate, moves to fix the pitons she left.
Itâs about then that Kiya starts smiling. Mostly because she didnât actually mess up the piton display, and this is very clearly teasing, at least, as teasing as Timeless can be without actually speaking or showing facial expression.
She flits around the store for the next few minutes, shadowed by her fabric-draped dance partner, smile slowly blooming into a grin. From rations itâs candles, then vials of oil. She stops at the ink bottles only to rearrange them, without picking any up, and moves on to the soap.
Once her arms are most of the way full and she canât justify staying any longer despite her shadow, Kiya turns around, and almost smacks into a beak as a result. She schools her grin into a (badly acted) expression of shock. âTimeless! I didnât see you there! Can you ring me up?â
âAh, Kiya! Of course, my sweet, I didnât notice you either. Come with me.â
Glade/Relentless:
5. What activities do they enjoy together?
from rp experience: glade and lent making fun of mfu Very funny and good. see: the conversation about what the hell happened with zaani. I think itâs VERY funny if one of their together activities is being A Little Messy. like not a lot because lent is very much lawful good. but also. i feel like she still gets a little >:3 when glade is like âguess what damien Ate Shit at the farmers market todayâ bc. who doesnât wanna hear about damien crownsguard faceplanting into horse shit.
13. Name something they would never do for the other person.
I think glade might draw a line at lent actually going back to the crownsguard, without any apology from the crownsguard/amaunator/etc. like if lent just went âmaybe I was wrong? iâm going back to be ground under their heels again like iâm not the most luminous person anyone will ever have the privilege to meetâ then glade literally might have to go. okay. i will not let you bring our daughter into that kind of thinking and i am sorry that i was not able to convince you that you are worth more than anything they say of you, but our (my) daughter will never be told that she is nothing without the law to tell her who she can be.
Dear Fantasy Prudence, how do I [wizard, f] convince my party members [motherfuckers, varied] to let me become a lich right now immediately? Time Sensitive
I have interestingly, received three letters titled âHow do I convince my wizard not to become a lich before we defeat the evil consuming the world,â I have researched your organizations name, and declined to get involved out of fear for
A. My life
B. My home
C. The destruction of all I hold dear.
So I will simply leave you with, communication is key. Express your needs, let them express theirs. And Remember, become a lich responsibly.
Lent (my lent lust is showing) 2, 14, 25, 27! Val 9, 20! and random/your choice for 5, 32!
Starting off strong with lots of Lent!!!
2. Things you said when you were a few drinks deep:
The booze hits you harder than you remember, itâs been awhile since you got properly drunk with your party members. But you just fought your first harpy, and you came out the other side alive, no one even down, and the adrenaline of that stayed long enough that you could be talked into a few drinks.
âHey- hey!â You shout over them to get their attention, âTo Motherfuckers Unlimited,â Thereâs silence, then a cheer because well, you havenât said it before. It feels so silly now, here in this bar with them around you to make such a fuss over the name.
Itâs lighter, now that youâve said it. Also, you realize, actually hilarious to say out loud.
14. Things you said because you thought theyâd be your last chance to say them:
Itâs been a very long time since you thought you might die. At least, itâs been a long time since you came close enough to the prospect of death to fear it properly. You were so much stronger then though, so much stronger even an hour ago that how you feel now would have been laughable. You deserve this.Â
You deserved to fall.Â
Even knowing that, even content in the knowledge that you made the right choice, that your honesty was the only option, has always been the only option, the fear still grips you tight around the throat when your fellow- No, not fellow anymore- Crownsguard grip you tightly around the wrists.Â
Theyâre so much stronger than you now, even the ones you bested easily in battle just days ago. You wonder if youâll see this room again, you wonder what the last thing youâll see will be. You know you deserve it. Youâre content in that, even with the fear lapping at your throat as youâre marched away but something rocks you.
Endurance, she needs to know. Because if this is it, if this is the last time youâll truly see her, she shouldnât sit with undeserved guilt.
You thrash your head free from their grip, ignoring their jolts of fear when you speak and catch her gaze. Endurance is wide eyed, hovering far enough behind you to avoid seeing whatâs going to happen, far enough that itâs clear she wonât interfere.
âEndurance- this isnât your fault, you-â is the last word you sputter out before the hold person cast on you takes effect and your body goes rigid.Â
25. Things you said that you still think about today:
It was inevitable, really, that Redemption would ask you about your scars. Gladeâs been fending the question for ages now, hushing her and taking her into corners to explain thatâs not something to pry about, that mommy needs privacy.Â
But sheâs old enough now that it wonât last forever, and sheâs so earnest when she asks that you sit her down, and she sits, so much stiller than she usually is. Red seems huge now, all nine years old and still not quite grown into her teeth.
âWhen I was younger, before you were born, I worked for the Crownsguard, and they had some pretty strict rules. I didnât realize I disagreed with them until I met your dad-â You start.
The talk goes late into the night, you avoid the goriest details, but tell her about standing by your convictions, about finding good with Motherfuckers, and about giving up what you got under false pretenses. Red watches with eyes more solemn than youâve ever seen her, and when youâre done, she leaps to her feet to hug you.
Youâre honestly impressed she stayed sitting that long.Â
You hug her back, of course, and kiss the top of her head.
âRed girl, just remember, as long as you do what you believe is good and right, you can make the world better. Donât let anyone whose standards you donât meet tell you otherwise.â
The words hit differently when you say them to your daughter. The needle inches closer to the day when youâll believe them for yourself.
27. Things you said to bring someone down:
âRepent,â You whisper, your sword bursting into flame as you do. It takes a lot to inspire true rage in you, but this man has done it. Heâs been taking advantage of the people of this town, cutting them off from trade routes for his own sick pleasure, and now he has the nerve to try and argue with you.
He smiles at you when you say repent and it fills your throat with bile, âDarling, thereâs nothing to repent for, Iâm helping them- thatâs all,â
You snarl, a proper, feral snarl as you lunge for him.
âEvery word out of your mouth is the same filth with which you ruled, the worst part is that you believe every bit of it. Your heart is blackened beyond repair, which you will see when I rip it out.â
Val time....
9. Things you said while lying to yourself:
âThey wonât let me go if I tell them Iâm leaving, itâs easier if I just leave now. They wonât even notice,â You whisper to yourself as you secretly pack your monastery bag.
Any member of the monastery is free to leave if they so choose, but they might make an exception, or take fault with the reason that youâre leaving, or countless other things. Thereâs no sense in causing a scene. Thereâs no point.Â
Itâs not the fear of what theyâll say thatâs keeping you from telling them, itâs just easier. Thatâs all. You know youâre lying. You just arenât brave enough yet to do anything about it.
20. Things you said when you missed what you could have had
Youâre working some huge festival at a small town, because people tend to get caught up in the atmosphere of a good time, and they want someone to take home so that the night doesnât end when the party does. People tend to tip well too.
Youâre watching people celebrate, families dancing, with your next client at your side. Youâre somewhere else too, youâre fifteen and watching as someone new comes into town. Watching as they talk to your parents, dismissing you from the room. Youâre fifteen and itâs the first year that they arenât doing Winterâs Crest, because the new group in town says they shouldnât.
Your client speaks, snapping you out of your memories, âItâs beautiful isnât it?â she nudges you, âHow theyâre all still getting along?â
âItâs fragile and fake,â you snap, âIt could all be gone in a second and they donât even realize it,âÂ
She starts, taken aback and you shake your head. Youâre better than this. You apologize, start the process of smoothing it over, the image of your empty town square still ringing in your mind.
Iâm doing Phirie for random just because I like her. Phirie backstory secrets under cut!
5. Things you said while pretending to be okay
âOh theyâre beautiful, Iâm so happy for you,â you say, because really what else is there to say when theyâre looking at you with huge hopeful eyes, with a picture of their new kids what could have been your siblings in a different world, what are, technically, your siblings in this world.
And you are happy for them, is the thing. Itâs not that you expected them never to adopt any other kids, never start an actual family. Itâs just that your throat is closing up in a different way than it used to, back before you spoke. Youâre grateful, suddenly for the glare of your glasses as you smile at your sort of parents.
âTheyâll be so happy,â you bite back that they should have just done this the first time, shouldnât have bargained with a hag for a child, should have known the consequences. They still deserve happiness. Despite that.
âI should go, I have work to do today,â You spin on your heel, and pinch your mouth shut so that you donât cry here.
âPhirie-â They start, but it ends there because really what were they going to say? They donât know you, not the way they were meant to. And they never will.
32. Things you said that you wouldnât have if it were dark out:
âIâm leaving, and Iâm not coming back,â You packed your bags days ago, but it took you that long to work up the courage. Your mom- No the hag. You need to remember that, you need to keep it separate. She betrayed you, she treated you like anyone else, and if you donât remember that youâll never leave.
âAre you now?â She asks, reaching out a hand towards you, her unnaturally long fingers curling out, âPhirie come on this is silly.â
âYou canât stop me,â
âI was never going to stop you my dear,â her smile fades, turns to something bitter, âYouâll stop yourself. Youâll realize, soon enough that you miss me, and that you need me, and you will return to me as everyone does.â
You turn you back on her, taking a shaking breath to steady yourself as if itâll keep her from noticing.
âI wonât. I will never see you again, and it will be fair.â and you square your shoulders, and you head for the horse and cart to find a new life, for yourself. Her eyes follow you until youâre out of town, and you know probably further.
3 and 9 and 25 for cog, 20 and 23 and 31 for raini
Cog:
3. Things you said before leaving.
Your name is Charlotte Olivia Grace, youâre nineteen years old, and you met a man in town today who told you he could take you with him back to New Alexandria. He seemed genuinely pleased by your enthusiastic agreement, and had walked you home so you could pack your bags.
Heâs now planted himself between you and your parents, and the warmth of this strangerâs hand in yours gives you the courage to stand a little straighter, look your mother in the eye, and tell her that not only are you leaving but that youâre never coming back. Youâll cry over the memory of the look on her face that night when youâre fairly sure your new companion has gone to sleep -and he wonât have the heart to tell you later that he heard each quiet sob- but in that moment your resolve is firm, and your voice doesnât shake.
Your name is Cog, youâre twenty years old, and youâve just met the most wonderful group of people. Theyâre rough around the edges, but so was Ace when you first met him. Theyâre fearless and exciting and so full of life that your chest aches with a longing to join them on their adventures. Youâre silently but profusely grateful that you were the one sent to fetch them for their meeting with Master Kind when they first arrived in the city, and that she saw fit to send you with them on the errand they ran for her.Â
...but that errand has been completed. Youâre back from the town you swore six months ago youâd never step foot in again, and in the morning your new friends leave for the Crossroads. In the morning, your life returns to lectures and essays and studying runes and history youâll never use, and itâs so much better than what you had in Lafaroh but the taste of a life of adventure is still thick on your tongue and youâd give anything you have for even just another day of that excitement. Youâre unhappy and subdued the night you make it back to New Alexandria, and you know Ace notices even though he doesnât say anything. You hope he knows youâre not ungrateful for the life he gave you here, and as you lay on your back in your dorm room bed you tell yourself again and again that boring at least means stable, and that stable is good.Â
Ace sends you off ahead to meet the party outside the Academy gates the next day, claiming he wants to grab some supplies to send with them and that heâll catch up soon to see them off with you. Youâre in the middle of trying to convince the standoffish gunslinger to give you a hug goodbye when you see Ace coming toward you, and though his grin is infectious itâs out of place enough to give you pause. He leans in, ruffles your hair, and tells you that you have approval straight from the Headmasterâs desk to leave New Alexandria with this group of weirdos youâve gotten so attached to. It takes a moment for what heâs saying to sink in; it takes another for you to understand what was unsaid, as well. Youâre going, and Ace has to stay here.Â
You know Ace almost as well as you know yourself, and you know he wants more than anything to be able to do what he just bent the rules to give you the freedom to do. And yet here he is, smiling and teasing you for tearing up when you should be thanking him, because heâs honestly excited you get to go in his stead. So you hug him tight and promise to write, promise to come back and visit, promise youâll miss him and do whatever you can to make the world a better place. He makes you promise to keep your chin up and refuse to let the Wasteland smother your spirit, and you do without hesitation. Your cheeks are still wet but your face hurts from smiling when you finally pull away, and with one final, heartfelt goodbye, you take off into the city to catch up with your new friends and tell them the good news.
9. Things you said while lying to yourself
Theyâre just dreams. Stress dreams, you tell yourself, and who could blame you for being stressed? In less than a week youâve had to watch helplessly as one of your friends was lead to his execution, trekked across the Wasteland because your car was stolen by a Bandit whoâs now taken it upon himself to tail your party, had to choose between destroying a townâs entire water supply and triggering Project Leviathan, gotten a letter from your best friend whoâs hurting and struggling to hold his city together, and had the horrifying realization that the Bandit who days ago stole your car just to get your attention now has unsupervised access to an incredibly powerful, incredibly dangerous magical artifact. Itâs enough to put a strain on anyone, and youâre self-aware enough to admit that youâve never been especially good at dealing with emotionally taxing situations anyway. It makes sense that youâre having stress dreams, and youâre certain theyâll go away on their own when things slow down.
It doesnât mean anything that these dreams are reoccurring, unchanging, and relentless. It doesnât mean anything that youâre dreaming of your hometown, of the street where you watched as -with your permission- Ace killed you mother. It doesnât mean anything that the creature speaking to you is the same one she summoned, or that it speaks with her voice. Or your own. It doesnât mean anything that it says, over and over, that you canât cheat destiny, or that youâve heard that phrase more times than you can count over the last few days. Itâs your brain dredging it up from those moments, thatâs all. It doesnât mean anything. Because if it didâIf it didâÂ
But dreams are just dreams. You jolt awake, pulse racing, heart in your throat, and look around frantically to find your friends asleep in the room around you. Seeing their silhouettes is less of a comfort than you had hoped it might be, and you curl in on yourself, forehead pressed to your knees, and whisper that truth to yourself in the darkness again and again. Dreams are just dreams. Dreams are just dreams. Dreams are just dreams.
25. Things you said that you still think about today
Youâre in a jail cell in a city that by all rights you never should have been able to step foot in, and for the first time all day the people around you are speaking a language you actually understand. It would be a refreshing change, but youâre having trouble believing even now that youâre actually understanding whatâs being said. Valentine had followed the party as they were escorted from the throne room to their cells, no doubt to gloat about how they had played right into his hand, that everything they had done had been pointless in the grand scheme of things. And, sure enough, heâs there now, leaning against the bars of your cell and waxing poetic about the meaninglessness of âgoodâ and âevilâ and how the only way to save the world from ruin is to conquer and unite it. He speaks, uninterrupted, for several minutes. Heâs all but preaching at your exhausted, downtrodden party, and not one of them raise their head to tell him to stop, to argue with him, or even to tell him to just fuck off. And so, exhausted as you yourself are, you have no choice but to push yourself to your feet and take a step toward the bars.
âYouâre wrong.â
It takes Valentine aback for a moment that you were the one to stand up to him but, as always, he recovers quickly. He smiles at you, composed as ever, and leans in to remind you that you were the one who said you wanted to see the Wasteland at peace. Isnât that right, Charlotte? Thatâs what heâs offering. Really, you should be thanking him...Â
Your hands ball into fists at your sides, and an anger youâve never felt before starts to burn in your chest. Heâs trying to use you. Heâs trying to take your words, trying to take the good you want to see done in the world, and twist it so you have to agree with him. He wants you to believe that your options are help him or watch the world burn, and youâve never been more angry with another person in your life. âYouâre wrong,â you insist again, and the new fire in you burns hotter as you watch his smile go pitying at the way your voice trembles. He doesnât get to be right because heâs not emotional! He doesnât get to be right because heâs decided heâs been logical! You take an angry step forward, with half a mind to jab a finger through the bars and against his chest. You instead stop inches away and glare up at him, defiant and resolute. âIf youâre looking at a problem this big and can only see two solutions, itâs because you found the one you wanted and stopped looking for others. Youâre wrong, Valentine, and you donât get to tell me Iâm stupid or naive for knowing there has to be another way.â
Itâs the first time youâve put words to that thought, but the conviction behind them is unshakable. Youâre right, and you know youâre right. You know that it may not always be easy, but looking for that third option is always, always worth it. You tuck those words into your heart, and carry them out of the city with you. And when you get to New Alexandria, when you learn that Master Kind wants to start a war and Ace intends to let her do it because he canât see another way out, you look him in the eye and tell him exactly what you told Valentine. There is always, always a third option.
Raini
20. Things you said when you missed what you could have had
Maybe it makes you sound like an asshole -youâre pretty sure it does, and youâre even more sure you donât really care- but rescuing a townâs worth of kids from the warlord that had been extorting their parents really feels like a job thatâs beneath you at this point. Youâd fought a fucking adult green dragon last week, why are you running a glorified fetch quest now? Surely there are other adventurers in the area who are looking for work? Who are just the right amount of qualified to raid the warlordâs camp and kill him and his men? You would have fought the issue, but you saw the look on your partyâs faces at the mention of children in danger and you decided to save your breath.
The fight was so one sided that it barely stuck in your mind as something that happened. Your contribution was walling off the tents the children were in, so that what was going to be a simple bloodbath didnât turn into a hostage situation, and then keeping that wall up while the rest of the party cleared out the bodies before the children could see them. And now... Oh, now youâre walking up the dirt road toward the village with a gaggle of children nipping at your heels, tugging the hem of your skirt free from sticky, grabby hands every ten seconds, arms crossed tightly so none of the little bastards try to reach out and hold your hand. Itâs miserable, it has been miserable for the last hour and a half youâve been walking, and if the sun sets before you make it to town youâre going to scream.
...thereâs a little girl, no older than five or so, riding on Zizeâs shoulders up ahead. Bright blue eyes, blonde hair in messy pigtails, thumb in her mouth, sheâd walked right up to Zize and held one arm up toward him in a silent demand to be picked up. She hasnât said a word the whole time the group has been walking, but she hasnât been crying either. She seems entirely content to suck her thumb and trace the tiny scales that make up the delicate details of the ridges that crest Zizeâs head. As far as you can tell Zize doesnât seem to mind the passenger, though you canât imagine how.
You make it to town before nightfall -thank the gods- and since youâre the only one without at least one sticky parasite hanging off of you you hang back while your party members help reunite the rescued children with their families. You watch as Yocheved lowers their tail so the older children who had been riding on their back can safely dismount, as they hand the infant theyâd kept cradled protectively against their chest back to its tearful mother. You watch Lent kneel to hug a pair of twins who had spent the whole walk holding her hands, before shooing them off to their parents who thank her profusely. By the time you catch Cylthia in the crowd sheâs handed off her charges as well, and appears to be counting the reunited children to make sure, one last time, that no one was left behind. And Zize-
You scan the square, and catch sight of Zize a little ways off, laughing as they reach up to keep their little charge from falling off their shoulders in her eagerness to get down. Sheâs caught sight of her dad in the crowd and is calling out to him, wiggling and squirming in Zizeâs hold until they set her down and she can dart off to hug her dadâs leg as tight as her little body can manage. And itâs... itâs strange, the way your chest goes tight watching the reunion. You frown and step back, but canât bring yourself to tear your eyes away from the look of absolute joy on the fatherâs face to have his baby in his arms. You donât... remember the last time you spoke to your dads, you realize. Itâs been months since youâve so much as thought about home, and suddenly the guilt is eating you alive. Itâs not a feeling you like, and it certainly isnât one youâre used to.
The town is having a celebration in your honor that night, but you wave off the repeated offers to join in on the festivities. You beg off claiming to be tired, and while thatâs enough to deter the thankful townspeople your party members remain unconvinced. You still havenât brought up home with them -Zize is the only one who has any real idea of where you came from, and even she never actually met your dads- and, quite frankly, youâre still not sure you think itâs their business. Still, you know they wonât drop it until they get a better explanation. âI have a letter to write,â you tell them reluctantly, adjusting and neatening the pages of the sheaf of paper youâd managed to scrounge up. âItâs... overdue. You go on, Iâll join you when Iâm done.â
23. Things you said while absolutely exhausted
Itâs pointless. The fight- Thereâs no reason to continue, bleeding yourselves dry across the streets of some city in hell, chasing down an enemy you know you canât kill. Your wounds may close seconds after theyâre inflicted, but the rest of your resources arenât regenerating the same way. Youâve been fighting for what feels like hours; youâre down to the dredges of your magic at this point, and a glance at Cylthia and Lent tells you theyâre nearly tapped too. Zize and Yocheved may not be having that same problem, but itâs clear theyâre exhausted as well. More than that, desperation is starting to set in. How do you sustain your will to fight when you can watch in real time as the wounds you inflict on your enemy disappear in a matter of moments? When you know that, eventually, your strength will fail you and your enemy will escape to doom the world? You keep swinging, you keep firing, you keep casting, because what else can you do? Youâre going to fail, but you want to fail knowing you did everything you could to stop the end of the world.
Youâre standing at the back of battle, because of course you are. Youâre drenched in sweat and your arms ache from holding your spellbook and focus up for as long as you have had to, and it hasnât made an ounce of difference. The realization of how truly pointless this all is hits you, and you slowly close your spellbook. You let your wand fall limp at your side, and you watch as the people around you grit their teeth, dig in their heels, and call out to one another as they give everything they have to buy precious, useless seconds. In the span of less than then of them you watch Yocheved hiss in pain as claws rip into their flank, watch as Lentâs shield swings around just in time to catch the brunt of an attack that would have bit deep into her shoulder, watch as Clythia cries out and reaches uselessly toward where, seconds ago, her fire spirt had been extinguished by an spell that had caught her, unawares, from behind, watched as Zize looked back at you, offered you a grim smile, then shifted a few feet to the left to put himself in front of you before firing at Geryon again. You watch and you know, with a deep seated certainty, that this isnât going to change anything. This is a war of attrition, and youâre going to lose.
...and then.
You look down at the spellbook still heavy in your hand, and while you can hear the battle continuing to rage around you it seems distant. Far off, recedding further still, and unimportant. You can fix this, you realize. Youâd be giving up everything to do it, but...Â
The world slows down as you tuck your wand away and reopen your spellbook, turning page after page to get to a spell you havenât yet had a reason to cast. Your notes on it barely take up half the page you assigned to it: a deceptively short description for a spell youâre going to use to change the fate of the world. You look up to see Zize snarl as one of Geryonâs minions attacks him, and your resolve hardens. The devil is dead at his feet seconds later, and Zize looks back at you again to make sure youâre alright. â...Iâm sorry.â You say to him, tearing your eyes away as his look of concern turns to one of confusion. âI am so, so sorry,â you say to the four people you love most in the world, making eye contact with each one of them in turn. You know none of them are close enough to stop you. You hold your spellbook out in front of you, turn your face toward the sky, close your eyes, and scrape together every bit of arcane energy you have left to channel the most powerful spell a living creature can cast.
âI Wishââ
31. Things you said that you wouldnât have if it were light out
"You gonna stay the night?â Ecstasy asks, and though you have your back to her as you peer into the mirror to make yourself presentable enough to Teleport home, you can hear the grin in her words. Itâs been a running joke since you first started sleeping together; you honestly canât remember who started it. One of you, sprawled out on the bed, loose and warm in the afterglow of absolutely amazing sex, calling out to the other to ask for them to stay. The answer to the flippant request is always the same:Â âNot a chance.â Itâs how the game is played. The person asking never expects a yes, and the person answering never really has any malice behind their words. Itâs easier and less awkward than having to say goodnight, goodbye, or -god forbid- âthank youâ.Â
...but recently, Ecstasyâs been the one asking every night. She laughs off your refusal same as she always has, but thereâs a sincerity to the request that caught you off guard the first time you heard it. The first several times she heard it, if youâre being honest. And tonight? Tonight, you find yourself honestly, genuinely considering it. Picturing it. You could turn around, crawl back into bed, and let Ecstasyâs soft breathing and the rocking of the ship around you lull you to sleep.Â
Youâve missed your line in the script. You hear a creaking behind you as Ecstasy sits up on the bed, and you can picture the way sheâs cocked her head as she swings her legs over the side of the bed and leans forward. You turn around, and the quiet, intense familiarity behind the fact that youâd envisioned the position sheâs in perfectly based on nothing more than the sounds she made by moving does something to your chest youâre not ready to face. âAngel, are youââ
âAsk me again.â You demand as the feeling in your chest turns into something more recognizable. Your heart is pounding; youâre fully clothed again, seconds away from being ready to leave, but youâve never in your life felt more vulnerable than you do in this moment.
Ecstasy pauses, visibly confused, but she inclines her head toward you and indulges your request. â...alright then. You gonna stay the night?â
â...okay.â The word come out breathless, and for several moments all you can do is stare at Ecstasy and wait for her reaction. For several more moments, it seems she can only do the same. Neither of you know what to do with this kind of vulnerability, not after so many months of living under the unspoken rule that this wasnât how you interacted with one another, that the permanent sort of thing staying the night implied wasnât something either of you wanted.
A beat passes, then another. Then:Â âWell. Good. I'm an angel, too, in the mornings.â Itâs an attempt to get things back on track, but several seconds too late to feel fully natural. Youâre biting back a grin as you undress again regardless, because if Ecstasy is mouthing off like that then sheâs not scoffing and telling you that you werenât supposed to actually say yes. She holds the blanket up for you to join her in bed once more, and as you make yourself comfortable beside Ecstasy, you realize with a smile youâre glad the darkness is there to hide that youâre very much looking forward to seeing the kind of terror Ecstasy is in the mornings.

ok in the last ask of mine you answered you said lent and endurance used to date. So. 25 from the romance asks for them: if they got a do over would they still date?
This is like weeks late and no longer corresponds with the last ask but uhh whoops.Â
Short answer, yes! They absolutely would.
Longer answer: Neither Lent or Endurance regret their relationship. Before they joined the Crownsguard they were the only thing each other had. Their relationship could easily have turned into a familial thing, but something changed when they were about thirteen and they realized Family wasnât exactly what they wanted. But their relationship was a good balance, a good way to have intimacy and attention that didnât rely just on their position.
It was really good for both of them while it happened! They both understand that the Crown came first, and their relationship came second, and until Lent fell it wasnât a problem.
remembering the moment our party got sent into the second, secret, boss battle in our final session, against a high level mage we thought was an ally, and the player with highest initiative goes âok im gonna leap 20 feet and just latch onto her face so she doesnât have line of sight and cant use verbal componentsâ and all of us just sat there staring at him and as an explanation he just says âiâve played a lot of mage huntersâ
edit for HUGELY important context: the character was an 11 year old girl
nonverbal meme time.......... anxiety and also lust for val (what's she do when she's Legit into someone and not just on the job??), exhaustion and mischief for phirie (good character building ones I think), and... confusion for Eve (she seems like the kind of person to hide it, what are her tells?)
Val
Anxiety: Oh this is interesting... I know itâs nonverbal but I think she does go much quieter. Lips pursued, staying behind other people, gently tapping her hand along the handle of her whip.Â
Lust: She plays with hands, not quite chewing her nails but coming close, tracing them along her face. Finds excuses to brush hands with them, very hand eccentric movements
Phirie
Exhaustion: Phiries the type to have full body dragging exhaustion. Itâs more clear in what she stops doing than what she does. Phirie usually moves with her whole body, constantly in action but when sheâs tired itâs bare minimum movement, feet dragging, serious are we there yet vibes.
Mischief: Again itâs the tail that gives her away. Thunk thunk thunk.... Big puppy dog eyes when trying to prove her innocence, big grin that she does a bad job hiding.
Eve:
Confusion: Youâre right! She does hide it, but itâs apparent in the furrowing of her brow, she sort of does the math meme pointing at things in curiosity, much quieter than usual while she processes.
Lent: Indifferent and Self-Satisfied! Eve: Worried and Happy! Phirie: Embarrassed and Sleepy! Go!!!!!
Lent:
Indifferent is polite, you spend a lot of time guarding royals you learn how to train your facial expression. Smiles a little bit off time with what you would expect, little head nods when no question was asked. That kind of thing.
Self Satisfied: Contented smile, tapping his hands lightly along her side, laying back, probably leaning on whatever party member or Glade if heâs there.Â
Eve:
Worried: Very similar to panic, lots of half done out somatic symbols, eyes darting around, clenched fists
Happy: Lots of big smiles, holding her hands together in front of her to try and hide that sheâs excited, not quite bouncy but very clearly intentionally subdued.
Phirie:
Embarrassed, tail down near legs, I think sheâs a blusher for sure. Kind of slinks into herself is the best way I can think of to describe it, tries to hide herself, rubs at the back of her neck a lot
Sleepy: Big yawns, rubs her eyes, plays with her hair, lots of leaning against things

impatience and panic, eve; fright, enthusiasm, phirie (does her tail factor in??); confusion and mischief, nakoria; anxiety and lust, lent; indifference and disgust; heran
Doing my asks out of order bc whoopsies!!
Eve:Â
Impatience: depends on the situation, when sheâs at home with her family itâs very hard to notice. Very easy to tell when sheâs on the road adventuring. Head thrown back, eye rolling, foot tapping, fingers tracing somatic components in the air but stopping just before it would actually cast a spell, that kind of thing.
Panic: Weâve actually seen Eve panic in game! it was when she was super shitty to Pointy. Fists clenched, ready to fire off an eldritch blast at any minute. lots of eyes darting around, quick movements. She likes to be constantly moving when sheâs panicking.Â
Phirie:
Fright: Oh thank you for letting me talk about her Tail because you know I have thoughts about how it factors into her every day life and expression. Phirieâs very expressive in general. When sheâs nervous her tail isnât fully between her legs, but itâs tucked closer to her legs. If sheâs shifted her ears are flattened against her head. When cornered and afraid her mouth will turn into a half snarl even if sheâs not shifted, she gets more animalistic for sure.
Enthusiasm: Sheâs so so visibly excited when she is!! Her tail will be going thump thump thump, a million miles an hour, moving her hands, practically wiggling around, lots of hugs, lots of slapping people near her on the shoulder (which twenty strength so Ow) sheâs basically a golden retriever. Semi Related but Phirie is the type to give running hugs without realizing her own strength and just send people slamming to the ground. She feels bad after but itâs okay she has lay on hands
Nakoria:
Confusion: You would be hard pressed to figure out Nakoria was confused unless you spent A Lot of time with her studying her. She looks at her nails a lot more, tilts her head, smiles a little bit more to buy herself time to try and figure it out
Mischief: Cat like grin on a dragon face, avoiding eye contact just a little bit more,Â
Lent:
Anxiety: She pushes her hair out of her face, constantly behind her ears, reminiscent of her Crownsguard days. Lots of playing her hands over each other, wringing them together, something to keep them occupied.
Lust: Lent is actually not slick. She tends to blush when she talks to them, lots of staring trying to pretend sheâs not, hands in her pocket so that shes less tempted to touch in passing etc
Heran:
Indifference: Heran doesnât usually experience this tbh they like things too much But- eyes darting around, playing with whatever they find, honestly Like getting Up and walking away to just do something else they care about has probably happened many times. Or trying to fiddle in their bag and accidentally setting off a bagpipe. Whoopso
Disgust: Visible gagging, covering eyes, very over the top.Â
Which of your characters rarely uses profanities? In what potentially troublesome or worrying scenario might they finally say or yell âfuckâ very loudly? When they eventually do swear, how do their friends (who know them not to swear) react?

lex your ask failed to go through too i think sorry if you get this twice... 20 (how do they define love) for lent, 28 (how did they think theyd grow up) for val, 69 nice (do they like facing their fears) for trick, and 67 (meanest thing they ever said) for anyone and everyone whose answer fucks
I am going to roast you (gently) because I didnât reblog this one but it does fuck majorly so I will reblog it now and answer it now.
20Â How would your character define love?
Oh hoo hoo. This is especially interesting for Lent because it has changed So Much over the course of her life. Pre Glade she defined it as something secondary, something that would improve your life, but something you could live without. For context, her and Endurance were in a relationship for several years prior to them being picked for Irisâ personal guard. Personal guards to the princess assumed are not allowed to be in romantic relationships with each other because there is the risk that in a life threatening situation they would protect each other instead of the princess. With very little conversation and heartbreak, Lent and Endurance broke up so that they could still have that position. The thought of sacrificing that honor for each other never even crossed their mind.
In contrast, Lent has given up so so much for Glade and she would happily give up so much more if it meant she got to keep him. Now her definition of love veers much closer to the traditional soulmate view, someone you canât live without, someone you would give up everything for because, well, thatâs what she has.
28Â When your character was younger, how did they picture themselves growing up? Does it differ from how they really turned out?
jlasdkjf god it would be funny if I was like No itâs the same :), she knew she wanted to be an adventuring dominatrix from day one. No but for real, Iâm not sure that Val ever thought she was going to leave her village and explore. Val expected to grow up there, maybe becoming a seamstress or a merchant or something similar, until conditions forced her out of her town. Ten year old Val would never have imagined this.
 69. Do they enjoy facing their fears? CAN they face their fears? If not, what do they do in a situation where theyâre forced to face them?
Haha nice. Trick claims she enjoys facing her fears, and largely thatâs true. She doesnât mind confronting danger, in a general sense, but thereâs one specific fear she hasnât been able to, and hasnât had to face. She is absolutely terrified of captivity. In a more general sense sheâs claustrophobic, sheâs afraid of being underground but that she can push through.
If it ever comes to Trick getting arrested, or put in chains or something similar though, that I do not think would go over as well. Sheâd prioritize getting herself free and away on pure instinct, and only after look back and go âOh Shitâ realizing that her party is still captured. It will be very tasty if it ever comes up.
67. What was the most acidic remark your characterâs ever given to someone? And their reaction?
This one is hard... hmmm
Eveâs is absolutely one of the things she said to Pointy when they were fighting, probably â I'm really sorry that you don't have anyone who cares enough about to you to travel with you. But Nyxi agreed to and does that for me, not for you. You're alone when this ends, so get out. Start it early.â
Heranâs was I think talking to Fairyana last session, where the gist of it was âYou sent me on a wild goose chase when you knew every detail of the task I was supposed to be doing and wasted two years of my life.â
I donât think Lent has said hers in game but it was probably to someone they were fighting and something along the lines of âWe all choose aspects of our life, you choose to fight on the wrong side, and you only regret it because youâre losing.â
I donât have any other mean lines but if i think of any I will edit
