How To Make Lockable Boots
1 Pair leather GP/Work/Hiking Boots
Battery or power drill with a 3.5mm drill bit
1 of Plastic clip board or other soft but flexible and strong plastic sheet cut into 4 25mm x 25mm squares
16 of 3.2mm Blind Rivets with a 7mm + grip length
1. Unlace your boots at least 2 loops down
2. Put on your boots and do them up
3. Locate your desired position for the hasp and staple, I suggest between the 1st and second shoe lace loops from the top and the lock to the outside. (if required remove the 2nd lace loop to make required space)
4. Slightly bend a curve into the hasp into the shape of your boot
5. Mark the location of the holes in the hasp and staple in your chosen location
7. Drill out the marked holes in your boots
8. Using the hasp and staple as a guide on your plastic squares mark and drill out the mounting holes
9. From the inside of your boot insert the rivets through the plastic spacer, through your boot, and through the staple and secure with the pop rivet gun.
11. Repeat steps 9 & 10 for the other boot
13. Put your boots on lace them up and secure the hasp and staple with a good quality lock.
