Helloo its me again! Sorry to bother but i’d like to ask a few questions about the game and silly question for myrddin :3
1 - will there be any more competitive mini games for the playtime interaction? If so, will it be the three cup shuffle thing? I’d love to know more ideas in the future!
2 - it may sound silly but after the successful full release of the game are you planning some sort of DLC? Askin’ so we’ll know what to look out for!
Now some silly myrddin questions!
1 - if you give him a VR headset how would he react?
2 - would does he like comic books? Either superhero, slice do life, anything like that, would he be fascinated or a little overwhelmed? I’d feel like it’ll open up something new for him
2 - is he REALLY into fashion? Would i trust him to pick my outfits?
Oh, please, it is not a bother at all. Quite the opposite, it is genuinely a joy to answer! Especially since I am a bit of a blabbermouth, haha.
So, let me get straight to it.
The whole topic of games is actually a funny little internal thing.
I always pushed away having an actual minigame because of the effort behind it. One might have even noticed the excuses given through Myrddin in the first two chapters whenever playing games was mentioned, lol.
Even in this chapter, I originally planned two minigames, but I couldn't get to it.
Of course, I am also somewhat limited by the engine, but I do plan to include a minigame for one specific part of the story. Though that would be more for Chapter 5.
As for the next chapter, I cannot really say yet whether there will be one.
I always want to implement things naturally. Naturally in the sense that they make sense for the current stage of the story.
After what happened in the latest ending, suddenly playing a round of memory would feel a bit rushed, haha. Though not impossible.
Hmm... I will go into more detail about this once the next chapter is released, but as of now, I do plan on "expanding" the game.
The way I imagine it right now is not as DLC, but rather as a full refinement and overhaul of the game. As a separate version on its own page.
Having a completed game and tinkering around with it is completely different from developing it in stages, so I can imagine that alone leading to many interesting improvements.
Pair that with the desire to improve many things, such as adding more sprites, for example. Wouldn't it be better to have specific sprites for the fact section? Such as a whiteboard actually displaying the topics mentioned?
And that kind of approach could work for many parts of the story.
Perhaps even more customization for Myrddin himself, regarding the fashion question, haha. And many more things.
Though, and this is where wishful thinking meets reality, it's not something I can pursue just like that. Otherwise, I would have started with that from the beginning.
This is mostly because of the financial aspect.
So as of right now, this is more wishful thinking than any confirmation. We'll have to see where the game goes until the final version.
Now onto the Myrddin section!
Alright. Maybe this is not what one would expect, but when presented with a question like this, I want to answer how I genuinely think the character would react.
With the scenario of you being there too as the player, he would probably act like a child eating candy for the first time. Excited, fascinated by the technology and its variety.
He would also get so immersed in the VR world and hit his head against a wall.
Now, one might think that with VR, there is also the possibility to imitate watching the sky, clouds, or frankly anything someone trapped away would have always wanted to see.
But I think this is where the excitement would fade and be replaced with disdain.
He wouldn't take the chance to look up everything he ever wondered about. No. Since all of it would only be another imitation of the real thing.
From the moment he put on the headset, he would essentially be trapped again inside an imaginary world.
In a way, that would simply mean he willingly trapped himself away while already being trapped himself.
And once you are not there, the headset would probably find itself in many pieces next to some wall.
2. Myrddin and visual media
Oh, this is an interesting one. And harder to answer than it probably should be.
Hmm... for one, perhaps his rather... not so polished (to be kind) art skills would improve if he had proper references to look at.
I think he would end up being obsessed with that kind of media. Instead of books filling those shelves, you would probably see a lot of comics, manga, and similar things.
Perhaps he would also try to act like those characters too.
He would definitely pester you about his favorite superhero.
Well... he got his fashion sense strictly from books, and to paraphrase, "this was supposedly the image of a neat, ordinary person."
So... if you are fine with something straight out of a catalogue, then sure.
If you want some personality and creativity in your outfits, then... probably not.
