I am not at all certain what cooled Ingrid's ardor. I thought her perfect for the part and was disappointed at her decision. Of course David knew about my insecure home life. He knew Ingrid had much the same situation. And he also knew, I now feel sure, that Ingrid and I were "compatible." To put us together in another picture at this time might cause hurt and scandal. What he did not know, was that we had discussed just that possibility and because of Lenore and Peter, we had decided to remain just friends. Friends we remained for the rest of her life.
