at the positive response, meera preens and her grin widens. it's all she can do to keep the heat of embarrassment, the good kind, rushing her cheeks.  oh my god, she wants to buy you a drink. code red, meera. code red.  "  to us deserves a real drink then?   "  she says coyly, or as coyly as meera can ever muster. she's all eagerness and upfrontness and her heart on her sleeve, even if a bit clumsy. like a puppy who's paws or ears are too big for it to walk properly; cute but ultimately only a harm to herself. she feels electric when she loops an arm through kat's, when they're face to face and she readies the shot in front of her own lips, even though they've been a lot closer.  "  bottoms up.  "
there was instant regret that hit kat square in the chest. the problem was, kat really liked meera. but kat also wasn't the type of person to settle down and she was pretty certain she never would be. she smiled back despite her rising concern that meera was going to take all of this the wrong way. or the right way. maybe it was half right, half wrong, and kat couldn't figure out what she was going for. or what she was doing with herself. "anything involving you deserves a real drink, not a shot." kat remarked. which was true. but she knew how it sounded. she adjusted her arm to loop easily around meera's. in a soft tone, still heard about the music and chatter, kat replied, "cheers to us, m."
