hi hi everyone! i am meredith, i am super excited to be here and this is my new bestie meera <3 you can find her app below, as well as a tl;dr at the bottom as well as some other bits and bobs about her.
tell us about yourself! where are you from and what has your life been like before now?
i’m meera, and every time i have to sit here and talk about myself it sort of feels like i’m on love island. which, on the record, was definitely the backup option if music didn’t work out. but, luckily, it did, and i’ve got the support of my family to thank for that. i’m extremely fortunate to have the privilege i do to be able to chase my dreams like this. i spent a lot of time in a lot of different places growing up — london, shanghai, new york, mumbai, são paulo, tokyo, paris, i mean, a lot — but the place that always felt like it was mine was singing and songwriting. none of my siblings are creative, but my mum is, and i think it gave us a really special bond. being a queer woman i think, has sort of been a really important factor in what drew me to music. everyone around me was sort of talking on a different frequency with… what they wanted and who they liked, and it became like a diary to me. writing what i felt and being able to find people in places even i’d never been felt the same way. [ long pause] and… obviously, i really connect with, you know, all songs, as a music lover. especially the ones that we get to perform as honeydew, which are really special.
if you had to have another job, what would it be?
i mean, there’s no other job, right? or i wouldn’t be here, i’d be doing something i didn’t have to put myself out there to the world like this. i think that’d be the case with a lot of people who love music, love art. they can’t imagine themselves doing anything else, and it’s all about making it happen no matter what else. if i shredded my vocal cords tomorrow, i’d still dance. if i cut off both my legs, i’d go find some band that needs me to play something or sing something. or i’d just figure out how to dance without them.
what advice do you have for others who want to follow in your footsteps?
do it. because like i said — if you want this, there’s nothing else that’s ever going to scratch that itch like going on stage and singing, or playing guitar, or jamming out on your drum-set, or dancing, or whatever you do as a performer. don’t let anyone tell you you can’t, or else… you won’t. believe in yourself first. and if you’re watching this or reading this or however this comes out, i believe in you.
OFF THE RECORD...
the youngest of five sisters and the favourite daughter of hard-working and successful parents who travelled the world, meera was born less with a silver spoon in her mouth and more so with rose coloured glasses — and unrealistic ideas. with her parents’ cross-continental love story between a british-indian painter and a businessman from chennai who ran away together, 3/5 of her sisters married to their first partners, and a life-long obsession with every romance novel and movie she’s ever laid eyes on, meera believes that her fantastical, fated love story is out there for her. she just has to find it.
her mother is semi-notable in art circles in london, and while they didn’t have the money or nepo powers to catapult her to fame, her parents did have the means and connections to gift meera an ill-fated music video and EP recording for her 16th birthday, a la rebecca black, which went mildly viral online and left her feeling humiliated and vowing to scrub every trace of it she could.
determined to forge her own, truly creative path in music, with her own songs she wrote from the heart. despite meera’s beautiful voice, her soundcloud covers and insistence on social media she wrote the song of the summer resulted in… virtually nothing.
until honeydew came along. she wasn’t expecting to be chosen, let alone as one of the singing leads, but now the opportunity of a lifetime has changed her life for the better. she still writes, when she gets the chance, and sure, meera misses feeling emotionally connected to her own music and writing what she wants instead of having to collaborate with the group put together by execs and get nonstop direction from the label.
but that’s nothing compared to the buzz that comes with being on stage every single night, with people you love, singing your heart out. that’s nothing compared to crowds of adoring fans. that’s nothing compared to finally, finally, finding love right when she’s at the top of the world.
right?

headcanons & extra tidbits:
meera has a very, very old scottish terrier named spot she brings with her everywhere, including her insistence he comes on tour. he constantly looks five seconds away from keeling over, and doesn’t really like anyone but her. she insists he’s the sweetest dog and will live forever.
close to her parents and sisters, meera has been showered with attention and been looked out for and protected for her entire life. the kind of person that believes everything will work out in the end and love is all you need.
loves glitter, stickers, and anything cutesy
meera has always struggled making friends – her upbeat nature can be… overwhelming to say the least, and her constant movement with her family for her father’s business needs left her with constantly shifting social circles. she’s ecstatic to make connections with her groupmates and the other artists
she’s a genuinely gifted writer, and is getting a little antsy that her talents feel so wasted
meera is immature and doesn’t have much in the way of emotional regulation, or keeping a neutral face. she’s even worse at lying. but her genuine kindness and ultimate desire to peacekeep usually keeps her out of hot water. when she loves, she loves hard. if she hates you, you’re dead to her. in theory she takes loyalty seriously, but needs to also learn the lesson that a friend to all is a friend to none.
is still a little sheltered despite auditioning for honeydew in her mid twenties. has only just started to get her party girl sea legs, and is a little over the top with how hard she goes in the new glitzy, non-stop world she’s found herself in.

other songs than casual ... drew barrymore by sza, writer in the dark by lorde, dumb bitch juice by rachel chinouriri, ballad of a homeschooled girl by olivia rodrigo, let me be wrong by jensen mcrae, i can do it with a broken heart by taylor swift, this hell by rina sawyama, dreamer by laufey, people watching by conan gray.
other aesthetics and vibes ... bright colors in everything you wear, wishes on four leaf clovers and birthday candles, pinky promises, black and white old fashioned romance films, a fourteen year old girl's idea of a classy paris bedroom, being the first person to order a shirley temple at the table, bath and bodyworks strawberry poudcake, being #thatperson who brings their dog into trader joe's, loads of blush on the tip of your nose, drunk karaoke, regular karaoke, seasonal nail colors, hot tea at the end of a long day, still having stuffed animals at any age, damnit!
tl;dr: spoiled sweet, big family, grew up sort of never really fitting in and bouncing from country to country and friend group to friend group. not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to interpersonal matters, but extremely astute when it comes to musical talent. had a viral rebecca black moment as a teen. hopeless romantic. growing a little antsy that she isn't writing and performing her own music.
