Today I finished illustrating my book and tonight will complete colouring the panels I haven't yet added colour to. Tomorrow I aim to refine the written story and add the words to the pages using Photoshop. I will then need to plan how to bind the book together.

I aim to complete all the illustrations for my book by Monday so that I can spend the half term colouring the panels on Photoshop and adding the text to the pages. I aim to complete this by the end of half term so that I can spend the final week refining the aesthetic of the book and printing copies of it before setting up my exhibition space.

Vegan Life magazine very kindly interviewed me & have chosen to feature my work in their June issue. I approached them via email asking if they'd be interested in doing an article about my work for the "Art section" of their magazine. They sent me interview questions and chose particular illustrations from my Instagram. Working with a professional magazine has been a new and exciting experience and has enhanced my confidence in continuing to approach establishments which feature animal rights themed art. This has further helped my awareness in how to communicate with businesses professionally and has helped me get my work "out there" a bit more! As far as I'm aware, the magazine is available is most supermarkets & some news agents.

I have started to illustrate the panels for my book using fineliners on cartridge paper. Once I've completed all of them I will colour them on Photoshop before adding text from the story to each page. I used borders to that none of the images will be cropped in the finished book.

I have been storyboarding my book in order to envision how the final piece will unfold and look aesthetically. I plan on doing some colour experimentations using different colour schemes before colouring the final panels on Photoshop.

Today I completed my storyboard so now aim to begin illustrating my book using fineliner black pens. I feel the storyboards have helped me to envision how my story will unfold.

Today I looked at the work of Werinika Kolinska and have been inspired by her style. I will explore her method of working (digital) through my own work. I aim to do this over the weekend.

Today I experimented further with illustration styles and have decided to steer away from children's book illustration and more towards illustration for a higher age group. I came to this decision because I feel the story cannot properly be told if it has to be censored for children. Rather than only experimenting with watercolour I want to explore digital art more so will use a wacom in later experiments. I've also decided to write the story in poem format and will begin to write it soon to help me understand what I need to be illustrating. The reason I've decided to make it a poem is because the subject matter is emotional and a poem can be written shorter than a story so will aid me with the time frame I have to complete the project.

My work is being exhibited in Somerset House as part of an animal rights exhibition for Xtra.art 🎨 This is the first time my work is being exhibited in a proper gallery, very excited! 😁💫

A couple more character designs, black pen on cartridge paper. Experimented with ways of drawing the body, one regular & one with more cylindrical limbs. This is a character that will play a big role in the book 💫

Today I updated my blog & added analysis to some of my posts, which is an area I feel I have improved on since part 2. I also continued with sketchbook work to show the evolution of my project as well as personal work & collaborations. I feel my sketchbook presentation has improved and shows a more smooth and ordered progression. For the next session I aim to complete more character designs & begin to think about the structure of the narrative I will be writing.

My illustrations are in an animal rights magazine in Philadelphia called “The Liberationist” :) They used 3 of my illustrations after I approached them with my work when they asked their followers for submissions. This has encouraged me to submit more of my work to other magazines.

A few more character design experiments, I’m liking this style the most out of all the types I’ve tried. Painted using acrylic, gouache & watercolour. I have designed the pig to be very round and smooth as this aesthetic appeals more to children and creates a friendly personality for the pig. Influenced by "The Moomins" by Tove Jansson.

This is the story of Bella, and it's the story I'll be illustrating and turning into a book 💖
