"No. I'm the King now," Noctis had never wanted to be King, but now that he was, he felt like he couldn't just abandon his people and run away even if he was scared.

"Noctis." Cor's voice was firm, urging the boy to look up at him. "This wasn't just some spur of the moment attack. Judging by the sheer size of your Uncle's forces, he's been planning this for a while. He's already taken the Citadel and he's already proved himself more than willing to resort to kin slaying. You are the true heir to the throne. You are our hope and future, so you need to survive until you're ready to face him."

"But..." The boy began to protest before Cor cut him off.

"Besides, I'm no fool," his attention turned to Obi-Wan. "There's a reason his Majesty wanted me to get him to you, isn't there? He'd have known that I'm more than capable of protecting him by myself. He's one of you, isn't he? A Jedi. Or at least he has the potential to be."

"A Jedi?"

Obi-Wan met Cor's gaze and nodded. "He can be a Jedi, if he wants to be." That was a bold claim to make, Noctis was older than most younglings that began their training, but Obi-Wan had practise in pressuring the Council to permit her the training of those they deemed too old to start.

They had been reluctant with Anakin and she had no doubts that they'd be reluctant with Noctis too, but listening to the Force, who hummed in serene approval, Obi-Wan was sure that not training Noctis would be the even worse choice and possibly result in the boy's death at the hands of his uncle.
