Last week!
I am really going to miss this place, I do not want to leave, I am dreading the day of my flight back! I got a really good taste of what the work life will be like in this industry and I am going to love it and I plan to thrive in it.Â
Comming to last few days, my manager will actually be out of town so I actually have some things to do ! my last event is on sunday, there are two in one day! corporate event and an art show. I look foward to them both and it will be a good way to say good bye. however i definatly plant to continue attending the Art of Active Networking event this summer and whenever I can, and i will definatly stay in touch with the staff!!! ;D
Crazy thoughts
So Ive realized, I'm in love, with this city, and the people, and the job I have been doing. .. So I have created a CV and want to start looking for a job. I have been considering for about 3 weeks now, not doing my final year at university. It would mean losing a lot but i would gain 3 times as much, and I would gain the life I am trying to get.
I have so far, worked on every event here at The Box SF, weddings, corporate, birthday parties, product lanuches, indusrty events and soon ill be helping with an art show.Â
I have met and connected with people in all sorts of industry and I have learnt how to keep in touch with those contacts. Now I just want to use them. I'm going to be kicking my feet around third year if i did'nt try using what I have got and learnt from this experience right now, while I am here.Â
Responsibility is for me !
So I have been working here only a month and already they have trusted me enough to train the new employee. I, the Intern trained the new Venue Manager, It feels really good and I felt very confident at doing it.Â
Another task I have felt good about being given is creating the new intern packet. The document that will be given to future interns to direct them to do exactly as I have done. This must be done thoroughly , and in time.Â
What's new in town?
So I have about 3 weeks left! Time flies when you're having fun!
So far I have got a clearer vision of what I want for my future, I have helped out at weddings, birhtday parties , gay gatherings and vibrtator give-away days. Its a great job ;)
I have become interested in something that relates to this industry that I think I need to look more into. Brand Ambassadors. They are groups of people hired for a certain project to tell the public about the brand given. I met Trojan ambassadors and it really caught my interest. I think this is something I can do part time with Uni!

What have I been up to?
So its been almost 3 weeks now that I have been working here as an intern and In 3 weeks I have accomplished a fair amount. I have already been a part of 10 events of all sorts of industries, I have learnt to use the amazing dropbox, been given responsibility and had the pleasure of networking at the great Art of Networking Event, capturing 5 important contacts I plan to email later on today.Â
I feel so far I have learnt so much just by watching and taking notes. There is a lot of passion here at The Box SF and it is inspiring and motivating.Â
People Skills
People skills is something I never really had, I could occasional fake them, with a beer in hand or sometimes people made me  so nervous adrenaline kicked in and it worked. But I've never been one whom was able to keep a conversation going for too long. I was unsure of what to say, whether what i wanted to say was appropriate and sometimes my lack of confidence would fog my interaction and uncover my nerves, making my presence untactful and unnoticeable.Â
But since coming to this internship, I have noticed, in the past 3 days, that my confidence levels have risen hugely and my people skills are massively progressing. I am suddenly very open to introducing myself and don't second guess what I want to share. It has become second nature to me, knowing what to say and knowing what is and isnt appropriate I have made my presence noticeable and I am beginning to make the impressions I needed.
In this industry, people are so important. knowing how to make a good impression is the most important, it helps you find clients, keep relationships and stables a reputation. I am glad it did not take me long to adopt these skills and I really hope they only get stronger.Â
Attitudes at Work
We were given so much instruction on how we should act during these work placements and how we should react towards them, however i dont think you can ever predict how you things will turn out in the working world. Some people will come back from their placements not knowing a thing about their work peers while others *ahem* will come back knowing everything right down to relationship history.Â
But which is better? What do these relationships tell us about our work habits and personalities?Â
If person A has a work relationship meaning; talking about work, weather and maybe showing a little interest in family, does that mean you have weaker work habits? Does that mean you are unable to talk to superiors? For someone like person A, in the industry of event management  surely that cannot be good, Or is it just a respect thing?
Does it show lack of confidence or surplus of respect?Â
Now lets say Person B has more than a work relationship; they talk about work, of course, but they also talk about weekend plans, boyfriends and recreational dues. Does this make Person B unprofessional? or does this make Person B confident and friendly? Something someone in this industry should be!Â
I know there needs to be a balance of work and friendly, but can knowing your supervisors relationship history be risky? And can NOT knowing be a sign of your confidence issues?
Busy Busy Busy
So I have really got stuck into my work. I have starting making timelines and uploading them to Drop box...which is an amazing invention!Â
Worked on a wedding on Saturday, was a bit manic and crazy, but i learnt a lot. i learnt that even though alot went wrong, and the people we had to deal with were kind of getting on my nerves, i want to be a co ordinator of events. Â I want to be a planner. I love this venue management thing, dont get me wrong, but getting a small taste of the planner side of things that night, made the decision for me. Glad it happened, and glad i had to run through San fran at 11:30 at night to buy $400 worth of pizza for a wedding that ran out of food!
Day 4
Its Wednesday, the begining of my work week. Today there was a busieness meeting and I was handed a delicious lunch!Â
I wasn't given many tasks today so I started work on my presentation, trying to make it look like The Box SF stationary. I learnt more about the place here itself. I read article beyond article about the venur and the Refleteur, a branding company that is also based in this building. very impressive stuff ;)
I read all of its bournemouthbetch.tumblr.com and I learnt more about Larping, think I might help organise one of their games as I am too scared to join just yet :/

Week 1 (Half week)
So I have my schedule figured out for this internship, I'm doing awesome stuff!
Working a 3 day week +++++events ;)Â
I've so far worked 3 days, and already made 5 excel sheets and seen all the portfolios of the past events. This is going to be an awesome place to work. ,Â
Currently I am sorting out my cv to find a job for the days I will not be working, most likely bussing for a few nights a week. just for some wardrobe cash ;)
I really love this theme and the way they did it.
Pre intern day
Tomorrow is my first day! I spent today cooking food, watching Desperate Housewives and planning tomorrows outfit. ( I decided on Ralph Lauren! ) I figured it will take me an hour to get there, including train and walking distance. I have to be there by noon and I have a few questions on my mind I am ready to ask. I am mostly excited, but a little bit nervous. A good outfit helps the confidence ;) Going to curl my hair and get my itinerary together!
