Not sure how I feel about this episode. To be honest, I kinda expected Mac’s dad to be Oversight — especially with the way they laid it all out the past two seasons by making Oversight this mysterious “character” (and I’m pretty sure we’ve never heard Oversight be referred to as a single male until this episode).

While we’re on the subject, I like how they brought in Mac’s dad. They didn’t make it overly dramatic or have the last-second identity reveal thing, which I’m happy about. In perfect fashion, he’s introduced while MacGyver-ing his way into a locked box.

(And seeing the shocked look on his face when he sees Mac and realizes he’d just threatened his son with a faux IED was definitely amusing.)

A lot went on in this episode, which I guess can be expected from the season finale (and now we’ve got to wait months until the next episode ughhh). Between the whole set-up of next season’s bad guys to Leanna being offered a job with Phoenix to Riley being offered a job with Billy (ohh she better not be leaving) to of course James MacGyver finally showing his face… Honestly not sure what we should expect next season.

I will say though that I’m glad Mac stuck with his plan to quit. Even though he already forgave Matty (that scene was so sweet btw), he can’t trust his dad (and I don’t blame him). Watching him walk out was so satisfying, even though I’m kinda mad that’s where the show left us. It’ll be exciting to see where Season 3 picks up.

As much as I love Jack, I’m glad we got the chance to see Mac and Riley get their own mission — they act like such siblings sometimes and it’s so amusing to watch.

“37 degrees, 14 minutes and six seconds north by 115 degrees, 48 minutes… and don’t look at me like that. I was a really dorky kid, I know.”

“In technical terms, I think we just pissed it off.”
