the moment juhoon's voice quiet down and the strumming of his guitar slowly decayed, you felt like your heart had made base on your throat from how hard you could feel it's beating.
this whole scenario felt unreal. the meadow you had once mentioned, the song he had made sound like it was written exclusively for you by the beautiful boy that now sat on a blanket right next to you, awaiting for your response for a few seconds before deciding to speak up first.
"i know this is not particularly a love song," he started, his normally quiet voice tainted by nervousness laced with slight hesitation, "but i thought it'd be fitting to show you that i learned your favorite song for you."
your heart squeezed in your chest along with the words that now gathered there, all competing in vain for the chance to escape your lips. there were too many emotions waiting to be let out as juhoon patiently looked at you, anticipating your response.
"its perfect, you're perfect." the words escaped your mouth in a light, airy whisper, containing not even a fraction of everything he made you feel.
juhoon looked shocked for a fraction of a second, until a smile broke out on his lips, seemingly slightly amused at your reaction.
"i'm glad you think so," he started, his hand subtly reaching for yours to lightly intertwine your fingers with his. "i think the same about you."
"you do?" you asked, your eyes traveling between your joint hands and his eyes like they might disappear if you looked away for too long.
"clearly, yeah," he smiled again, looking right back into your eyes for a couple of seconds before he turned towards his backpack. "i have something for you." your heart skipped a couple beats again as you watched him fumble with the zipper, which was proving to be a difficult thing to do with one hand. "hold up, i think i need both hands for a second." he chuckled nervously, making you repeat the sound as you let go of his hand.
the boy didn't waste time, rushing his search for the little box before immediately going back to holding your hand, as if the time spent apart physically hurt him.
"here."
he watched you expectantly as you received and opened the box, not being able to help the small giggle that escaped your lips at the sight of the necklace that it guarded.
"you're an asshole," you laughed softly, looking up at him with a huge, unguarded smile.
"hey! i thought you loved buttons," he laughed back, throwing his hand up in defense.
in the box laid a silver chain with a small pendant in shape of a button, a stupid (very stupid) allusion to the game you refused to admit you had visited more than three times in your life.
you rolled your eyes at the sound of his defense, but still melted once your eyes focused back on the necklace. it was silly, probably even dumb to many people. but it was a gift, and most of all physical, tangible evidence of how much juhoon saw you.
with your ridiculously short attention span and silly ways of entertainment.
with the quirks many found childish and immature.
with all those things you thought no one noticed.
"i love it," you said, interrupting the short silence as you looked back up into his beautiful brown eyes. "really, thank you so much, its perfect."
juhoon smiled, eyes twinkling in happiness from your response.
"you're perfect."
"oh, shut up," you laughed, feeling your face warm at his words even when he was just repeating yours from early on.
"i'm serious, you are." he insisted, moving slightly to find your eyes again and squeezing your hand gently with his fingers. "because you're silly, and funny, and the most stubborn and headstrong girl i know." he continued once your attention was back on him. "yn, iβ¦ i hope you know that you had me 10 days ago. you had me since the moment i laid eyes on you a year ago and decided you were the new love of my lifeβ¦. or well, the version of you i made up in my head had me."
his words made your heart pound loudly in your chest, as if your heart was trying to break out of your chest just to be closer to him.
"but now that i've spent these few days with you, i can be proud to say that i chose the best person to spend my days pining after, because i don't think anyone else in the world is like you. i dont think anyone could match the way your eyes light up when you talk about the things you love, or how your voice softens when you talk to me, or even the faces you make when you're frustrated⦠and im sure that no one, and i mean absolutely no one, has the faith you have on wiki-how tutorials."
that last part makes you laugh softly through the dampness that has gathered in your eyes.
"so, please allow me to continue falling in love with you and all those millions of traits that exist in you." he says, now looking so intensely into your eyes that you wondered if anyone had ever reached that level of attention before. "please let me be your boyfriend?"
his words untie a revolution inside your chest, and the grin that escapes your face betrays the happiness they bring as you nod repeatedly. "yeah, yes, of course."
you watch as juhoon's chest deflates as if releasing a breath he didn't know he was holding, interrupted by the smile that forms on his lips as he pulls you forward into a bone crushing hug.
you both relish on the feeling of each other's arms for a while, exploring the emotions brought by your combined warmth until your own voice betrays the silence. "i really have to give that wiki-how a five star review."
juhoon's chest shakes with laughter at your words as he moves his head enough to look down at you, raising his eyebrow in amused mockery. "does it really count if the subject was already in love before the 10 days started?"
you shrugged amusedly, humming with indifference. "nothing wrong with giving some girls out there a little bit of hope."
the boy smiled, nodding lightly before sarcastically speaking. "wow, you really are a beacon of hope for romance."
"right? i've been saying." you say back, looking at him with utmost adoration before your eyes trailed subtly down to his lips.
juhoon's eyes followed yours, staying planted there as he oh so slowly leaned in towards you, finally sealing your lips on a kiss that had far more than ten days stored in its tenderness.
