Tactician

Though, this warm feeling sadly did not last long at Morgan poking holes in his own modest behavior, he huffing at that. However, seeing as it was all logically sound, there was no response he could give to counter it without sounding childish, as such he did not say a word. He did respond at his last line being called ‘cheesy’ though. 

“Well, Sire Chrom and your father said many lines similar to that themselves, you know - thereby, if I picked up this..er…apparent ‘chessiness’ - it is because Robin and Sire Chrom likely said those words to my father - and thus me - so much I myself picked up on them.” 

Wait was Laurent talking shit now because it was so on.

“So you’re trying to say that you pull cheesy lines because you got them from your dad, who got them from Chrom and my dad.” She paused. “That makes very little sense. You’re your own person, not any one of them. Sure, you could pick up one or two lines, but it’s not like you’re repeating them verbatim.”

If she were to be honest, she wouldn’t be surprised to find out that her father was generally cheesy. It wasn’t as though she was completely free of it either, and she had to have picked it up somewhere.

“I know that any other ally would have supported you much the same as I am, though they would no doubt have their own ways of helping. I was simply the first you happened to find. They all look fondly to you as a member of our team regardless of your state of memory, but that said…you needn’t apologize.” Being forgotten wasn’t as painful as being alone. He was just glad she was here to speak to once more, even if she did not recall him - though, yes, it did hurt - when he thought of how lucky he was to see his allies in Koi, that was stronger than any hurt. “I understand…” Oh, he understood very well. Morgan not wanting folk to be sad was akin to how he didn’t want anyone to feel lonely.

…Then a sudden taking up of the offer of a hug from Morgan. Cue Laurent hugging back, if not a bit surprised about how suddenly Morgan took up said offer. (Morgan was so small that the mage’s hug was as gentle as Laurent’s patience was).

“Thank you - I try my best to be. None shall harm an ally’s happiness when I am around, at least I should hope not.”

Her smile softened at Laurent’s denial of his own help. “You’re being modest; maybe any of the others would have helped in their own ways, but you did. I won’t forget that much.”

Well, she hoped she wouldn’t, at least. She was sure she’d forgotten plenty of things she’d promised herself she wouldn’t already.

“Hm, I can understand it must be quite distressing. That is why I wish to learn all I can of what you do remember - so we may aid you in remembering as you wish to all the more effectively.” This said, he paused and tilted his head a bit at her musings that she didn’t want to meet everyone else…not yet, anyway. “Is that so…? Well…I wouldn’t want you to feel alone while you try to get your memories back, so I could try and find some people of the city to talk to, if you wished.” He…didn’t want anyone to suffer any sort of loneliness.

Because he knew it was a horrible curse.

That said, Inigo’s name seemed to ring a faint bell, but not strong enough for Mogran’s liking, and she seemed upset about it.

“Morgan…”

…He knew he was very awkward in personal closeness, but she seemed so upset he felt he must do something.

“Thank you for being so supportive about this, Laurent. I know it must be rough, having someone just forget you in a new place all of a sudden... I’ll do my best to remember soon, for you and everyone else! Besides, it’s not like I don’t want to meet them, I just... don’t want anyone to be sad. I want to be able to greet them with their names, as old friends. Not as strangers.”

She felt very special, being offered a hug, even after all of Laurent’s previous support. Not waiting for any further confirmation, she dove into a hug, pushing her face into his chest--jeez, this guy was tall.

          Still, this girl didn’t even seem to have an idea in mind and Rin raised her brow. If she didn’t care so much, she should just randomly select one. And, just as the idea popped into her head, her companion apparently came to the same realization of just choosing at random. Still, with that level of indecisiveness, Rin guessed that she’d change her mind again and shoved a box of light blue dye into her hands.

As she fretted over the idea of choosing a color randomly, she blinked down at the box of dye she suddenly found in her own hands. It was a pretty color, and this way she wouldn’t be picking randomly, which was nice.

“Thanks!” She smiled genuinely at the other, glad for the help, but the smile faded into a smaller, puzzled version. “But um... what is cotton candy?”

That’s not to say he didn’t like dogs though, it just didn’t gave him the same rush of excitements that cats did. 

His musings to himself were cut short, there, at Morgan’s slight frustration on the matter: yes, her father was important, but she expected everyone else to be, so why could she not recall them as easily? “Amnesia is a rather strange thing, though. Folks cannot control what memories they lose or keep, you know.” That said, he nodded.

“I am happy to eludicate more about your mother and our group of friends, but goodness, you are asking so many enquiries at once. One at a time - even a mage good at answers as I cannot answer that many at once. I shall start with the topic of our companions and how many of them are here. I know that Gerome, Inigo, Owain, Lissa and Lucina are here, but as to anyone else, I do not know if they are here yet or not. Gerome may like chess, as I believe I have offered to spend time playing a game or two with him - I like it myself, as well. That’s slightly going off the topic, though.”

Adjusting glasses again, he moved on.

“Out of all the names I have mentioned, it feels as if the most important one I should mention to you is Inigo. Or rather…your brother - he is Robin’s and Olivia’s child, the same as you are. I cannot claim to understand his…flirtation,  but he is a skilled dancer and a kind soul.”

She chuckled sheepishly as he pointed out just how much she was asking of him. “Sorry, one question at a time from now on. I don’t think I’ve met any of them yet... But I don’t know if I should, yet. Maybe I should wait and try to remember some more before seeking them out... I wouldn’t want to upset them by not remembering any of them...” Still, she wanted to be around them, memories or not. She had been friends with them once, and she wanted to be again.

INJURY MEME [x]

RELUCTANT AS HE WAS, it was too grave an injury for him to walk with unassisted. He clutched at the tactician’s shoulder as his armoured own wrapped around his back, leaning against her though not quite ready to release his entire weight upon her so soon. Between the two there was an alarming space in regards to height, thus he hesitantly hopped alongside her abandoning, briefly, any sense of dignity. He was a wounded solider, of course, but in that moment pride withered away in the place of a silent note of sympathy for the young woman who so bravely had volunteered to escort a man… so much taller than she. Although it brought a rosy shade to his cheeks, he stumbled forward regardless and ever mustered the strength to voice a word of gratitude, though it was quietly muttered as opposed to joyously announced. 

“I see…“ came the simple answer, voice much less chipper than how he usually was. Likewise the girl’s face spoke a tale of one being horribly affected by the situation – which was understandable when you thought about it – so could Owain really allow himself to stand here and make a girl even more depressed? The answer was no!

Sword hand shielding his face, a dramatic expression appeared on the blonde boy’s face. “I see!“ he repeated with a much more headstrong voice this time. If there was one thing he was good at, it was pretending. “Young mortal, I fear you have fallen victim to a horrid curse! When travelling to this realm, your very person was reset by the nefarious plot of a corriptive demon of heinous origin. But not even this meddle shall get in our way! As your partner in arms from yore, I promise that I will dedicate my very life to break this curse, mark you my words! For no demons or overlords take away something dear to Owain and gets away with it!“

“Cursed by demons? Woe is me!” She couldn't help but giggle even as she played along. “What does it take to break such a curse? Do we have to go on a quest? Solve a riddle? Battle an archdemon? True love's kiss?” She'd pick solving a riddle any day, she loved riddles. Owain probably knew that, she realized.

          After depositing Bandaids and hot glue refills into her basket, Rin remembered that her roots were coming in again and that her hair looked awful. How was she supposed to come across as “plucky” as she tried to be when her roots were brown and boring?

          Meandering down the aisle, now hyper aware of the hair on her head, Rin haphazardly grabbed the first platinum blonde hair dye box she saw, not looking at the price and barely glancing at the color, before some other woman held dye boxes right in her face and asked for a recommendation.

          Raising an eyebrow and looking at her own, totally not researched and probably gonna murder her follicles, option, Rin shrugged. She wasn’t the person to ask about beauty choices.

She let out a frustrated noise, turning back to the other and waving the boxes in her hands dramatically. “Do you see my problem? I’m too indecisive, these are all such pretty colors! I don’t want to put an entire rainbow on my head!”

This place was a bit hard to navigate after all, if it wasn’t for the map that they had on their phones he would have got lost more than ten times already. It wasn’t like he was that bad at directions, this place was just too different from the big city that he was used to. At least, that was his excuse. 

Nodding at that, his gloved hands paused to adjust his glassed at…that last statement. Truth be told, he’d been scared of seeming like a weirdo, some ‘stranger’ telling such stories…about a forgotten past. To know Morgan didn’t mind…no, wished to remember despite how strange it may well look, was reassuring.

“Very well. I promise that I will aid with every ounce of knowledge I have to try and assist in the swift recovery of such memories - though it may well take time, I simply cannot leave an ally - a friend - in need without doing something.”

She pursed her lips at Laurent's words about Robin. “I mean yeah, he was important to me, but I would expect everyone else to be important, too! I mean, I know I had a mother, but all I remember about her is that she had pink hair, same as me. It doesn't make any sense that I'd remember so much about my father but forget her almost entirely.”

“…What?” A flicker of surprise and concern crossed the usually stoic expression of the mage - to think that an ally - no, a most trusted ally regardless of whether she had lost her memory or not, and a friend - would assume he would be angry at them for something they could not help. “I may well be a person who voices concerns on many facts - but I would never be upset with an ally for a logical event they could not help. You couldn’t help having amnesia again, just as I…sadly…could not help being separated from the group for five years. Be at peace, Morgan.”

“…That’s something that Lucina’s father, Chrom said all the time back home…my, to hear the Yilessean creed spoken aloud certainly takes me back. I suppose despite your amnesia, there are still important things you clearly recall, then…” It was reassuring - and a sign that despite losing her memory (again) Morgan was still the same madam she had always been. For a rare moment, Laurent felt that usual serious expression falter, a faint smile across his face at the memory.

It didn’t last, however, as the serious look returned swiftly as if it had never been gone a few seconds later.

“This ties into the subject matter I was going to bring up, actually: I know you recall your father, evidently - but do you recall anything else? It is alright if you do not, however - I ask to try and determine how bad this amnesia is, and how I could be of help…if you wish to remember, that is, I don’t want to impose on you.”

“I was afraid that I really had forgotten everything...” She admitted, sighing with relief. “I really only remember my father, and not much else.” Her eyes widened upon Laurent’s implication that she might not wish to remember.

Although far from as conspicuous as he usually was with his manner of dressing, he still got quite a bit of attention, nothing of which Owain paid much heed to. He was so used to people talking about him for his behaviour that he didn’t really care for when they started discussing his appearance as well anymore. It was who he was, and if he wanted to believe that he could pull through with this, it was a necessary aspect. The world needed a hero. It didn’t need a second-rate prince who wielded no legendary sword and was no leader of a great army, who didn’t really have any significance to the outcome of anything like the rest of his family did. Unline Luc, Owain didn’t amount to much, and that was why he needed to become a hero.

The mutters however were usually pretty silent and private – he had not expected anyone to outright call out to him, and even less had he expected to face the source of this commotion and find a familiar face. What was Morgan doing here?!

Well, she didn’t remember her own mother. So maybe that wasn’t true.

“Um... I’m sorry, I don’t--remember.It’s not the heat. I’m sure I knew you from back home... But I only remember what’s happened here in Koi.”
