The family tradition moment...
Living abroad is not easy and I donât think it ever will be. I mean, how could it, right? Every day that goes by give us more and more time to remember the memories we gathered at our home country. Especially times with the family, if they are still far away. In Brazil, we have a word for this specific feeling: âSaudadeâ.
But I donât wanna get melodramatic here. I just wanted to share a fun fact. Today, I was looking at my hand and saw my ring that I wear every-single-day and, just by looking at it, so many memories came to my mind.
Let me explain. In Brazil we call these as âGraduation Ringsâ and itâs usually gifted to you when you graduate in college. This is a thing in Brazil but to be honest I have never seen this tradition in any other brazilian family or even in another country. But believe me, itâs a real thing!!! Each academic degree has its own gemstone and its symbols, and they are consistent throughout jewellers.
I graduated in Graphic Design. My ring has an old computer on one side and a set square with a compass on the other side. And my gemstone is a Blue Sapphire meaning âTruth, Wisdom and Accuracyâ.
HOW CUTE IS THAT?! I absolutely adore it!!! And the fact that my grandma has been buying these rings since my mom was born, for all family members that graduates, it really is something special. So thank you Grandma for keep running this lovely tradition. Saudades! đ
