and thank you to everyone who has sent kind messages and condolences; i'm sorry i haven't replied, part of it was just taking time to Deal and part of it was funeral planning (we just held it last week since the weather was nicer).

presses my hand to the glass thinking about how fucking possessive alastor is right from the get go with charlie, how he just thinks of her as his because he's the only one who can keep up with her, match her beat for beat, who can provide for her the way she needs. decades of wanting to build a hotel for sinners and alastor gets it up and running in a matter of minutes.

and at first maybe he tells himself that it's about keeping his trump cards close so he can use charlie for his own ends, but it doesn't take him long to realize that if he's meeting charlie step for step, she's matching him too. she's keeping him guessing, keeping him on his toes, constantly amazing him with just how determined and bright she is, and why should he share that with the ones who don't understand her? don't appreciate her? why should he let others try and dull her shine when he can keep her glowing all on his own?

oh MAN wouldn't that be something ... implications i dare not consider ...

i think there's definitely some elements of self-insert, at least in the general sense; most creators do tend to pour in parts of themselves to original creations, especially ones that they've worked on for a long time. i know that vaggie being salvadoran in the original canon, and charlie loving musicals, are in reference to viv.

if i had to guess - and take this with a HUGE mountain of salt, because this is all just speculation and armchair diagnosing and admitted bias LMAO - i would say that charlie is maybe how viv sees herself: the underdog no one believes in who gets bullied unfairly but is still somehow right and will rise above the #haters. for all the mistakes charlie makes and all the bad writing that afflicts her character, she is meant to be this entirely compassionate and kind person who is trying to convince the masses that she's right, and that falls very in line with viv and her way of thinking.

i honestly don't know if charlie is meant to serve as viv's mouthpiece, or self-insert, because off the top of my head, viv putting any kind of serious work or thought into a female character's motives or decisions feels VERY unviv-like. that being said, it would almost make it more likely for c/harlastor to occur, because viv has a massive crush on alastor. it could very well be that viv wants some elements of self-insertion while still getting her kinks satisfied; i couldn't guess and frankly, am frightened at any attempts to understand what that woman thinks.

at this point the only dynamic ra have canonically, and i mean the only dynamic, is that they hate each other and they're both important male figures to charlie. that's the only angle they've got at the moment, and v*v is going to milk that for profit until the cash cow is a wizened husk. they're going to bleed that pig dry.

but it also just reinforces, to me, what we've been saying all along: the focus was never going to be on charlie or her pursuit of redemption, it was going to be about the male figures and how v*v can hit them with the yaoi beam. why create merch for the lead of her show when she can't be fujo'd? why make anything related to charlie when beating the dead horse that is dad beat dad could wring out a few more bucks?

and that loops back to them retconning the whole "he's lying to piss off lucifer" thing: it was canonically alastor gloating over his closeness to charlie and him understanding charlie more, but once v*v and her team saw the yaoi profit, they switched tracks. and we knew it was going to happen, but it's still "my disappointment is immeasurable and my dad is ruined."

-a lot of us love ur headcanons and you have a great understanding of canon that we also agree with.

-you have very good critical points regarding the show, the fandom, RA/their shippers, and the creator herself compared to many, many, MANY people within the fandom who like to act like critical discussions are a bad thing. like discourse within the show’s fandom is sooo rancid that people outside of the show/fandom are aware of it!!!!! (i was one of them; it turned me off watching the show for years + the general Fandomification (coughs RA shippers to be exact)+ viv herself) and so many people didnt/don’t want to touch that so you’re, imo, one of the many people i have found to be really great at nuance and critique that i think many people appreciate. plus, you love charlastor together and individually.

-i also like that you are also critical (not a bad thing!) about the fujo / bigotry within this fandom/fandoms in general and fan works because a lot of people aren’t and many people will act like a 5 year old whose toy is being taken away when this conversations occur so i love finding like-minded people who discuss that/understand the frustration.

I never said anything about the sexual identity of ra; I said that charlastor fans are also part of the lgbt community, and insulting them as “hetslop fans” is both disrespectful to their identity and also reinforces what I have been saying: you don’t actually care about someone’s sexuality and identity, you just want something to get off to. Also, for funsies, I LOVE Vaggie and Emily or Vaggie and Cherry! You can find some mentions of them in my archive ♥️

Oh my goddd this tired thing AGAIN lmao, you really just regurgitate what you see from twitter, huh? Even IF they have a familial bond I can ship them; even if they’re canonical family, I can ship them! That’s how shipping works! We don’t dislike viv because she “made chaggie canon”, because many of us WANTED chaggie to be canon. We dislike viv because she’s a gross bully who disproportionately favours her yaoi fanbase at the expense of the story, who sics her fans on charlastor shippers, and who has people like you sucking deep on her boot. BORING. DULL.

Numerous people, both charlastor and not-charlastor, have pointed out that the way the sex scene played out does not follow consensual sex. Coaxing someone to be intimate with you when they’re in emotional distress is kind of gross. You’re welcome to read the scene the way you like, but we’ve established you’ve got the literacy capabilities of strewed beets. Maybe block the rest of them if it bothers you.

Well, that’s weird, I’ve actually posted pretty frequently how much more I want for Vaggie. A fallen angel who falls in love with the literal spawn of Lucifer? That slaps! Wish the show could keep up with that!

the “infamous artist” you reference was from 2019, and as far as I know, is no longer active in the fandom. If they are, I can say with certainty I haven’t seen them. As with ALL fandoms, there are 100% crappy shippers and fans, but the charlastor fandom at large does not condone or support those people. They are not a popular or well-liked aspect of the community.

A vast number of the fandom identify as lgbt, and want to see proper lgbt rep in the show that claims it as a diversity. Instead, we’re constantly disappointed with the male-centric view and attitude from fans like yourself. You came onto a post that had NOTHING to do with vaggie, and proceeded to insult the fandom for … not liking vaggie. Which I guess must be true for you too, since a glance through your blog shows that you have NO posts about Vaggie. In fact, I don’t see ANY posts about women on your blog! That’s so weird!
