I’m disabled (but still able to work, so fuck me, right?), divorced, and have two children, ages five and eight. I have zero custody over the children because I’m unable to care for such small children because of the aforementioned disability and as a result of having zero custody, all of the childcare costs are my responsibility, blessedly ONLY $192 a WEEK now that school has started back where we are. (Daycare was 286 a week just for my son, who just started kindergarten. For real, don’t have kids unless you’re absolutely certain you can afford to. )

Oh, and I also pay $468 a month in child support directly to my ex-wife. You see in Tennessee, all of this is decided by a spreadsheet that was developed by [redacted] back in [redacted]. You put how much parenting time each parent has and each parent’s income into the spreadsheet, and whatever numbers it spits out are what the courts are obliged to enforce; unless of course, the parents and question can come to some alternative agreement, but my ex is not the kind of person to turn down free money.  I’ve yet to speak to an attorney who is able to explain to me how the spreadsheet works or where it came from in the first place.

All of which is to say, in case we weren’t all already painfully aware, is that this country is fucking broken:



First of all, She’s Got a Way is the first track on the album, which surprised me because it seems like such an iconic Billy Joel song to me. But secondly, Today Is Tomorrow absolutely wrecked me, incredible song.

To be clear, fuck cops. But you know, fuck angry ass marines who assault me in a goddamn parking lot more.
