so, in the early 1900s coffee was a staple in the creole household. people believed it was the key to a long life. because of this, alastor had been drinking coffee since he was old enough to enter the workforce. it easily turned into a way to self-regulate for him. in some people with adhd, coffee can make them feel calmer, more attentive, and raise dopamine just enough (due to the stimulant nature) to make people with adhd have a better baseline mood. we see alastor drinking coffee canonically, and viv has confirmed it's one of his favorite drinks, specifically black coffee!

alastor is the type of adhder to need little sleep. he functions better on a working three to five hours of sleep than a full eight. honestly i headcanon him as not sleeping much at all, and preferring quick powernaps to get him through the day.

alastor stims in a variety of ways but works very hard to mask them, so he's developed a handful of subtle stims. alastor's the type to stim by clenching and unclenching his fists, tapping his feet, chewing the inside of his mouth, humming, and tapping his fingers. in a more private environment i see him hair-pulling (as he does in the show), rocking back and forth, and biting his nails. he's definitely a pain stimmer.

alastor's brain runs far faster than his mouth and he's often speaking something he thought several minutes ago, and already moving onto the next topic. he's frequently impatient in conversation and, because he reads people quite well, can already guess what they're saying or feeling before they do and is frustrated by how long they take. alastor's mind moves quickly and he hates how no one else seems to keep up.

alastor dissociates frequently, if he's not interested in the world around him. his mind wanders to something more stimulating, like his hyperfixation on radio, or something he's plotting, or a new recipe he's been wanting to make (i see him as a big cook). alastor often daydreams about what he'd rather be doing and concocts plans and scripts in his head that he struggles to follow later. he tries to scribble it down as soon as he's alone but words escape him before he can, usually.

alastor is a chronic note-taker. he doesn't want to miss things because of a poor memory and he has a notebook that he scribbles down everything "important" in, so he doesn't forget it, and then never really checks the notebook unless he's bored. he has a handful of these in rotation and only a couple are full, the rest have been around for decades, but he'll lose one, buy another, find the other one, and keep switching between them.

alastor is sensitive to loud noises, but also very quiet noises; he hides it well. he dislikes not knowing what to expect, so loud noises startle him and his more animal instincts have him wanting to skitter off. especially with his more sensitive ears, it took him awhile to get used to not flinching and widening his eyes when he heard loud, sudden noises. as for quiet noises, he tends to pick up on near-silent whining or ringing and it drives him nuts. he ends up stimming more harshly to soothe himself, or leaves entirely.

alastor leaves without saying anything because he gets too focused on doing something else. he's the master of the "irish goodbye." if he doesn't see a point in being somewhere, he just leaves. i've noticed this a lot in myself and adhd friends, but we'll fuck off somewhere and not tell anyone, and everyone's confused where we went. i definitely see alastor in that.

We have Vox who we know has it in him to be a sweety softy. Who loves his partners. Who has sincere passions for sharks and cinema. He is also someone who is violent and cruel. He is sadistic, he "gets off on outher people's suffering". These are all true things and when someone focuses on one it can seem like there ignoring the outher. (Some times they are ignoring the outher. In both directions.)

Charlie loves everyone. She cares about every. She also has a hard time understanding people's emotions with out being told explicitly. She is pushy becuse she thinks she knows best. She tends to rush past complicated emotions to try to fix things.

Alastor is so many things. He is a extrovert who thinks he's better off needing no one. He loves deeply and clearly enjoys protecting people (mimzy). He is both very vocal about his passions (radio) and very private about his feelings. He wants the power to do what ever he wants and he doesn't want the reponciblity to have to do what anyone says. He was on one hand willing to sell himself for power and at the same time rather die than beg Vox for his life.

Angel takes no shit. He's confident and abrasive. He's also deeply insecure about his own flaws. At the same time he is extreamly confident in his work while hateing it because Val makes it a nightmare. He (like Alastor) wants people in his life and is scared of it. He is scared of people geting hurt for them unlike Alastor he doesn't have the power to protect them.

Husk is both a bleeding heart and a stone cold bitch. He seems to want to help everyone but will get overwhelmed by everyone's emotions. He belives outhers can change but not him. He loves deeply but doesn't believe he should be loved in return.

like ngl, i find it really fun in fics and stuff, especially as an oedipus thing, but as an actual interpretation of the show... my black heart just cannot.
