The Trump administration is quietly preparing to transfer 4 former members of the US military, in military prisons and sentenced to death, to the Bureau of Prisons at Terre Haute, Indiana, where their executions can be carried out.

Among the four men:

Nidal Hassan, who shot 45 of his fellow soldiers, killing 13.

Hasan Akbar, who killed 2 soldiers and wounded 13 in a grenade attack in Kuwait.

Timothy Hennis, who raped a woman married to another military officer, and then stabbed the woman and two female children, ages 5 and 3, to death in 1985. The youngest victim, had she survived, would be 44 years old today. He was convicted and sentenced to death. A Federal judge ordered a new trial on somewhat shaky grounds, resulting in an acquittal. New forensic science led to a court martial and another death sentence in 2010.

Ronald Gray, who went on a murder and rape spree in 1986 and 1987. He killed 4 young women over a 7 month period. He plead guilty in civilian court and received a life sentence in 1986. The military tried him in a court martial and sentenced him to death in 1988. President George Bush signed a death warrant in 2008. Presidents Obama and Biden suspended all Federal death sentences during their respective terms.
