ubel keeps telling herself she's only hanging out with this boring nerd to figure out his magic. land is secretly, maybe enjoying the attention but refuses to get emotionally entangled because he's certain once ubel figures out his magic she will immediately stop flirting and start trying to kill him in earnest.

Ubel is part of the same idol group as Fern, sol track. She’s surprisingly really good at managing PR, fan/media interactions, maintains a stellar public image, and is able to talk to a lot while really saying nothing at all. A really fast learner and is able to pick up new skills immediately if they interest her.

Outside of filming, Land is only ever seen wearing suits or business attire. Nobody really knows what he does and people have started coming up with wild theories that seem to get crazier each day. Ubel jokes that he’s a secret agent but he’s probably just a 9-5 office worker. He goes to his favorite cafe so often that they have his order ready the moment he gets to the counter.

They run into each other a lot in public and Land starts to think he’s being stalked but Ubel really does just happen to be there at the same time he is.

so i’ve been doing a bit of thinking about some hate we got recently. ask was pretty much: “cringe culture’s dead! fuck off”. in typical khorra fashion, i responded with some salty commentary and “cringe culture’s not dead”. 

but you know what? there are different kinds of cringe culture! wow! 

these kinds are dead… 

-”autistic breakdown” cringe. the breakdown itself is terrible for the person having it. but it’s not cringe. what’s cringe is that some douchestain thought it’d be a good idea to film and post the situation on the internet. i’ve said enough about this one. 

-”bad art” cringe. most of the bad art posted is some 12 year old’s first attempt at drawing sonic the hedgehog or whatever. you know what making fun of kids’ first attempts will do? it’ll make those kids never want to try the thing again because they suck. we all suck when we first try something. shut up. 

-”adults liking (x childish thing)” cringe. i mean… so? besides the whole ‘age regression’ crap… so?! there is no harm in an adult finding a kids’ cartoon or book or whatever entertaining (as long as there’s nothing sexual about that enjoyment). you like something meant for kids because it’s nostalgic or cute or pleasantly weird? okay! i, khorra, watched spongebob and ate lunchables with delta in our first year of college. i also still read books marketed to middle school children because i enjoy the stories. go on, attack us. 

-”anime fan cringe”. now, this is different from weeabo/koreaboo/whatever cringe. an unhealthy obsession with a small part of these cultures, letting the obsession replace human interaction, unironic dinner dates with your pillow waifu? cringe! finding an anime entertaining and having emotions about some characters? drawing cool art of those characters? having headcanons? interacting with other nice fans? not cringe! 

-even “emo/scene cringe”. as long as it’s not the aforementioned 12 year old going way over the top and… i don’t know, posting pictures of fake (tw here?) self harm for attention… so? kid dyes their hair, wears some black clothes, uses a few XD faces here and there? most likely, it’s a phase! and guess what? phases are normal! we all have them. go away.

-”absolutely terrible and offensive art from adults" cringe. okay, adults can try something for the first time and be awful at it just like kids. but when a grown adult thinks it’s okay to draw like rcdarts and purposely create content that shits on people just for having a difference or a disability? gross. and a waste of talent if the art itself is well drawn. 

-”uwu stargender trifoxself demiextragrayarofluxace-ish…” mogai cringe. do i need to explain? it pisses off actual transgender and nonbinary people. by nonbinary, i mean things like agender or questioning. i do not mean kids who think they’re reincarnated gods whose gender = galaxy. plus, this shit makes it impossible for bystanders to tell the real stuff from the bs - so the bystanders just say, “screw it. all trans people are fake.” 

-”anti-recovery tumblr” cringe. i do see this one going away, but far too many tumblr users think that treatment and medication are there to force them to be normal or “neurotypical”. they think that the best way to rebel against our truly dumbass system (america ftw… sigh…) is to refuse medical help and diagnose themselves and then just sit around venting about how awful they feel. that’s not just cringy, that’s dangerous. surprise, treatment is there to fucking improve your life. 

-”m.a.p/nomap” cringe. yes, i’m talking about pedophilia, so if you really don’t want to see that, skip this paragraph. there are people on tumblr who think that it’s okay to be attracted to and even have sex with minors. dude. most 16 year olds, and quite honestly most 17 year olds too, don’t think about the risks and implications associated with sex - not enough for the sex to be as safe as it should. a lot of vile-ass adults take advantage of that. and just because some MAPs don’t tell anyone about finding children attractive, that doesn’t make it okay. what the fuck? 

-kin cringe. wow. shocker. i am in awe that i’ve even thought of this one. so very wow. in all honesty, kin for whom it’s just a casual thing? kin who use the label loosely, don’t associate with the worst parts of that community, and are aware they’re not really their kintypes? do what you want. but people who do stuff that land them on kin cringe blogs? what the fuck? 

-”tcc” cringe. excuse me, but what is attractive about a serial killer? maybe there’s something wrong with the tcc’s collective self-preservation instincts? why in the name of all that’s decent and sensible would you make flower crown edits of murderers? how about these people stop? like. now. stop it. please.

nobody ever straight up says it but being emo or punk or goth is seen as a White Thing and i absolutely hate it. people of color are already underrepresented all the time and making alternative look like a white thing is... not good, to say the least.

there are so many alternative music artists of color out there and there are masterposts made listing them but can you believe it? theyre so underrated and nobody talks about them so people have to make articles and posts to give them recognition because people of color trying to pursue something that big are never recognized?

im literally mexican but ive been lectured by a white person trying to tell me that no, actually, punk's history isnt about minorities. white goths are straight up racist when they make their skin extremely pale and talk about how it's the epitome of goth beauty. etc etc.

you look up emo and all the pictures are white kids. you look up scene and all the pictures are white kids. you look up absolutely any alternative subculture and all the people in the pictures are white. if you want to find images of alternative fashion with models of color you have to specify because white is the default.

every single day i have to remind myself that alternative isnt a white thing. i have to remember that being nonwhite is exactly one of the reasons why im into this in the first place.

tl;dr people of color into the alternative scene are so alienated from the whole thing and are never represented so it's seen as a white thing and it sucks!
