and to be tasked to provide and divide their little available resources, to witness how desperate people are getting: it drains you. it drains him to watch nova chrysalis chip away with every second. and he can't do anything but wait for this damned savior to somehow fix this. for lightning to figure it all out, somehow.

and despite chisa's rather reserved personality, it did not mean she didn't observe. has quietly seen the so-called spirit herself at night, who happens to be dressed quite similarly to @zuogui.

at night, dorian often dreams about sorscha. nightmares. of him kneeling and gathering her body, trying over and over to piece her back together, but for her to slip away and fall apart again. for him to be covered in her blood, silent sobs and soundless screams being the only thing he knew how to do.

his beautiful sorscha. she who was so beautiful, both inside and out.

sorscha ( @fcntasyadvcnturc ) says: you were my almost. my what-if. my biggest regret.

her beautiful voice makes him jerk his head upwards. how long had it been since he last heard her? no matter. she was here now, alive and speaking, right in front of him.

dorian stands, only now noticing her broken body has gone from his lap. no more blood staining his hands, his clothes. dorian wastes no time, not even wondering why or how the body that was in his lap seconds before is now standing before him, speaking. quickly stepping closer and allowing his hands to cup her cheeks ━ as if to feel her, to make sure she's real. maybe it was all but a horrible, terrible dream. he can feel the tears prickling in the corner of his eyes, threatening to fall, but he refuses.

he hadn't expected to see her. not here, not now. he hadn't mentally prepared himself for this. hadn't expected this. how strong either of them had gotten. and while he couldn't do anything but merely be a bystander in the lifestream, he made sure to always linger closeby. he'd always hovered close, watching her and cloud and their merry band of misfits travel across midgar and gaia. zack had always been proud of him, of her.

yet bravery alone was nothing when you come face to face with evil incarnate itself. she had seemed so peaceful and accepting, before sephiroth had ended it. zack had called out in warning, as if aerith would have been able to hear his warning.

it was too soon for her. she wasn't a fighter, she wasn't supposed to die young, like him, like a soldier.

" we're both different people now, aren't we? ", she asks eventually, his cerulean eyes snapping back to her, snapping him out of brooding ━ that was cloud's forte, not his. he'd grin and cross his arms over his chest, maintaining his gaze upon her. he doesn't recall how long they've been here, talking, being together after what felt like forever.

" i'd like to say i grew up some ", he says with his typical boyish grin and an almost proud rub of his nose, before he averts his eyes and looks over at the people passing him by. " but if we're being honest.. i think you changed the most, aerith. " he pauses, letting his words sink in before he glances back up at her. no more boyish behaviour as his face shows how serious he is. " the girl i met in that church that day.. i don't see her in you anymore. "
