Troy Datcher represents that rare friend I've known for over 30 years (we met at Procter & Gamble's week-long "break-in" sales training in Cincinnati) who over the course of that time has had such an endearing impact on our relationship as well as the Community as a whole as exemplified by the convo he and I had years later when he went to work on a NASCAR race team and he stated his goal was to break that sport's steadfast color barrier and one day see the "first professionally sponsored Black NASCAR driver" which led to what we see today in the seedlings of his labor paying out in a more diverse NASCAR and at present, with mixed feelings I am seeing him closing out his role as the first Black Chief Customer Officer of Clorox and one of the few in the industry and with that I look forward to him taking on his new role as CEO of Jay-Z's The Parent Company as he again is setting his sights on "doing the right thing" in working to reverse the years of negative impact people of color have experienced in relation to the cannabis industry. If there are two things that stand out that I learned from Troy: consistency, as I have watched, listened to, and learned from him over the years, it took me almost as long to realize how consistent he has been in angling and driving towards his goals with consistent focus and actions. Second, don't bet against Troy because he will always find a way to win.
