Drei Farben

Today’s lunch aka an espresso. That’s it. A meal so minimalist it would make a monk ask, ‘Is that all?’ Fortunately, it was a spectacular espresso. Rich, bold, and more dependable than the rest of my day. Another 2 and hours for this horrid day to end or it’s the end of my sanity for sure.

Summer’s arrived, and the sun’s trying to roast us like a goat on a spit. Still, great food, road trips, rainbow Autobahns, farm fresh produce, homemade wine, chef friends… Europe really knows how to show off. Now hurry up with a proper thunderstorm.

Because I was getting a bunch of creepy messages, someone who clearly had stalker tendencies and people asking me to do various things with my hands. So decided to turn off unknown asks and change name. Thanks for your ask.

At that point I was ready to say, “Shut up and Call me a taxi.”

Taking a brief strategic pause in Nürnberg, hydrating at a café roughly the size of a shoebox before continuing the journey. It’s 35°C, which according to modern science is technically ‘weather’, but feels much closer to parking your face on the exhaust manifold of a running V12. Thankfully, redemption arrived last night. I swapped the beetroot punishment biscuit and swamp water celery juice for a freshly pressed orange and grapefruit juice that tasted like sunshine had finally remembered my address. Alongside it was a slab of handmade organic bread with hand churned garlic butter so good that could make a Frenchman weep into his beret.

Ate a beetroot oat cookie this morning that had all the moisture content of a grandmas vagina, followed by a glass of celery juice so aggressively green it felt less like breakfast and more like being recruited by an environmental pressure group. A truly catastrophic decision, the sort of breakfast that makes you long for the sweet embrace of a full unhealthy breakfast and several poor life choices.
