I have joked abt how funny it is for Madi to join in the silverflint dynamic like she saw silver shaking and crying over it and went ok move over tho i want in. But i think it comes down to she saw Flint for what he was (force of nature, story come to life, something with the power to change the structure of things) almost immediately. Which is why she was wary of him at first (you don't trust a storm), and honestly I think also why she immediately jumped head first into SilverandFlint's weird af dynamic anyway. She was intrigued by them, but she also saw what harnessing that power could do for her people, because she saw what it had done for Silver's men. I wonder if hearing what Silver said about tempering him isn't also a part of why she trusted Silver. She thought they had an understanding of their roles in relation to Flint. One hand each on the reins, always in service of their people. She thought they both understood their place in the world this way.
Maybe Madi's blind spot was needing to believe Silver was planning to come back out of the dark. Even after he told her he didn't need a tether anymore, even after he said he would be offering this force of nature his 'true friendship'. She wanted to believe that he was like her, that he entered that darkness and made hard choices for the same reasons she did and was tethered by his community in the same way she was. And to be fair, Silver was playing his part well. Until he wasn't... Madi never saw what he became when they believed she was dead, she never saw him weild stories directly, she simply had no way of knowing Silver was the same kind of thing Flint was (but worse) until the end. And Flint... well, Flint has no excuse except love tbh. He knew that Silver's story was missing pieces and extended his trust anyway because he believed they understood each other. Madi was able to see past Silver's fear to understand how much Flint was like her, and so become a true partner to him, but neither of them really understood how much Silver wasn't until it was too late, and he'd already restructured the story to unmake them both.
